Arrow 6x16 : The Thanatos Guild review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Arrow returns and for what it's worth I don't think they could have come back with a more better episode. It begins as we're treated a flashback of Thea and Malcolm Merlyn from 4 years ago. Nothing really happens though as we've seen it before but it's a nice reminder nevertheless. The episode really begins in Nanda Parbat however as The League Of Assassin's now have a new leader after Malcolm's death. A woman named Athena. (Would have liked if it was Talia instead but nope) if it was Talia it could have lead to some interesting sister bickering but also no. We see Nyssa standing before her new leader. Shortly after this a fight breaks out among the league as Nyssa detonates a plastic explosive inside the building and makes her leave.  Back at the bunker and the team are throwing Thea a going away party as she has decided to leave Star City with Roy

Gotham 4x16 : One Of My Three Soups review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of Gotham begins in Arkham Asylum as we see a security guard reading a magazine but within mere seconds the alarm for one of the inmates goes off and it's none other than Jervis Tetch a.k.a The Mad Hatter. The security officer puts on ear phones and a tape player to drown out Jervis just in case he tries to hypnotize her. He hypnotizes somebody alright but it's actually another guard and as the security guard turns around to find out what Jervis is pointing at she gets her throat slit by another member of security under Jervis's control. Turns out this is all part of Jerome's plan as Jervis goes to visit none other than Scarecrow in his holding cell who appears to be working on and developing his fear toxin even more. We don't see Jonathan Crane but we do get the master of fear in all his glory as both him and Jervis go and help Jerome

Legends Of Tomorrow 3x16 : I,Ava review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Another week and yet another stellar episode of DC's Legends Of Tomorrow. In my eyes as of right now this show can do no wrong having bolstered so many quality episodes throughout it's third season. The episode begins as the team follow Sara on the bridge begging her to stay and not leave. She is adamant on leaving due to the whole fiasco that happened last week. This leads to her naming Amaya the new captain of the ship until further notice. Amaya to her credit doesn't take this duty lightly and orders Zari to help Mick with his training / teaching him how to use the Fire Totem and learn more of it's skills. Not soon after this Gary arrives on board the waverider and tells Sara and Ray that Ava is missing and hasn't been seen for days which according to him is incredibly unusual for her do so. So you guessed it, it's mission time to try and find out just

Gotham 4x15 : The Sinking Ship, The Grand Applause review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of Gotham begins as we see Martin being looked after by two of Sofia's men in a random apartment. Right away I notice an easter egg as one of the guys is reading an issue of Detective Comics. The comic of the same name that gave us Batman for the first time all those years ago. It was easy to notice for sure but nevertheless a nice little nod. Back onto Martin and as he is flipping through his notepad he gets some instructions on how to escape to which he follows exactly to the letter. Leading to the two guys being blown to pieces by The Riddler who enters the room after the blast telling Martin that Uncle Penguin sent him. A pretty outrageous start but cool nonetheless. Onto Jim now and him and Harvey talk more in his office above the GCPD. Harvey agrees to re-join the GCPD but only until they can take down Sofia Falcone and afterwards Jim confesses a

Game Night review

Image
From the guys who brought you Horrible Bosses this time around they give us Game Night and while we're promised a lot of things it doesn't quite deliver on them all it is still a fun watch that will have you laughing hysterically at some points. Before starting I have to point out the opening which is all the studio's involved in this movie being actual game pieces instead of the usual intro that we'd usually get. A subtle but really nice touch I thought. The story is pretty simple as it follows a group of friends who meet up once a week for 'Game Night' as they like to call it. This involves nothing out of the ordinary really mostly filled with charades friendly banter and the like but one night things don't quite go according the plan and they find themselves entangled in a real life mystery. Game Night boasts a pretty strong cast of familiar comedic actors and actresses. Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams both carry the movie throughout it's over 1

Legends Of Tomorrow 3x15 : Necromancing The Stone review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Another week another stellar entry into what has been an amazing season of DC's Legends Of Tomorrow.  The episode begins aboard the waverider as we see Sara walking aboard the bridge. Turns out she was having a nightmare as a little girl appears and she suddenly wakes up almost panic attack like. Ava (who was asleep next to her) also wakes up and the two talk about a number of things. First Sara tells her that she slept with Constantine 3-4 weeks ago and right away you cans see that Ava gets jealous. Sara calms her jealousy by calling her, her girlfriend which leads to them both kissing but not before Gideon requests Sara's presence on the bridge. On the bridge the Legends discover a whole new batch of time cracks as Zari now calls them and this leads to Sara splitting them all up into teams instead of focusing on one at a time. Sara who is about to take the jump ship sta

Gotham 4x14 : Reunion review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it The theme of this episode of Gotham is a given right away as the title tells us. It's a 'Reunion' style episode. And while not a perfect episode by any means it did steady the flow and overall narrative after last week's jumbled mess of an episode.   The episode begins as we see Bruce Wayne opening a suitcase. This suitcase contains the prototype Batman suit complete with mask that he had worn earlier in the season. Bruce looks at it for a few seconds only to throw the mask into the blazing fire inside of Wayne Manor. Skip to a bar and Ivy enters looking for Harvey Bullock who she is told isn't there as he is out sick. This leads to Ivy using her new and improved plants to kill everyone in the bar within seconds. Turns out Ivy knows that Harvey killed her father and she wants revenge. Jim finds out about all this as him Lucius and some other cops go to the bar

Tomb Raider review

Image
The transfer of a video game to a big blockbuster movie has never really been a smooth ride in Hollywood. From the Resident Evil franchise to The Prince Of Persia to god forbid Doom. Movie studios never really captured what a video game was supposed to look and feel like on the big screen. But with this new and improved Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft they have just nailed it! Based mainly on the 2013 video game reboot of the same name with some stuff even from it's sequel Rise Of The Tomb Raider the story follows the before mentioned Lara Croft starting from a young frail girl who lost both her parents all the way to a fiercely independent young woman who after learning of her father's goings on behind his company's backs decides to follow up one of his most dangerous expeditions to date. Almost following the story from the video game point for point as they do change some things which is too be expected this is a really fun and energetic ride to jo

The Flash 4x16 : Run Iris Run review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of The Flash is unlike any other version of Freaky Friday I've ever seen as Barry and Iris get their DNA swapped by a meta which leads to the female speedster's first showing. The episode begins as Harry and Cisco who are still trying to come up with a plan to save the remaining 3 bus meta's (4 including Ralph) but Cisco tells Harry that he needs to recharge leaving Harry by himself to muddle over things. He says to himself that Devoe is much like Thawne in a sense that he always was two steps ahead of everyone else. The next day at Star Labs Harry presents his latest creation. The Thinker cap! which is pretty much the same one that we saw Devoe wear earlier in the season and what he used to get his powers in the first place on the night of the particle accelerator explosion. Harry tells everyone that he plans to do something similar so he ca

Legends Of Tomorrow 3x14 : Amazing Grace review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it The Legends do it again. With this week's episode this show has delivered another stellar episode that puts the other DC TV shows to shame in my opinion.  The episode begins as a young man enters a music shop wanting to buy a guitar. He ends up seeing a certain guitar that he wants but the owner is reluctant to give it to him. He eventually gives him the guitar but little does the guy know that it is cursed. The guy who buys the guitar? well it's none other than Elvis Presley, The King of Rock N Roll himself. As he leaves with the guitar in toe he tells the owner that he's going to be on the radio one day everyone just has to wait and see.  Back on the waverider and Zari shows Wally around the ship. His constant speed antics begin to annoy her and other members of the team. As Zari goes to play Guitar Hero she notices that the name has been changed to trombone hero.

Arrow 6x15 : Doppelganger review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it My reviews of this show haven't been all that good lately and I apologize for that. If I'm being completely honest it's bored me quite a lot this season with what has been almost like recycling of old storylines and similar character traits as in the past. But with that being said this episode while not a true return to from I actually did enjoy. The episode begins as Oliver's lawyer enters his office and informs him that given Cayden James's death the footage / evidence that he had presented to the FBI can't be used against him now that Mr James is deceased. So it looks like Oliver is going to get off the hook, or does it?? as later in the episode his lawyer and the attorney against them meet and discuss the whole ordeal, the attorney informs everyone in the room that they have a new witness and his name is Roy Harper. Yes a returning Roy Harper who I did

Gotham 4x13 : A Beautiful Darkness review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it With this week's Gotham we may have just gotten the most wacky and over the top episode yet. The episode begins as both Selina and Ivy enter a house and Ivy puts the residents under her spell. This happens quite a lot throughout the episode actually. Some in funny ways some in some not so funny ways. Anyways as Ivy talks to the man of the house about what he does for a living it's discovered that he works for Bruce Wayne as part of the science division, and that same division holds a secret project named Project M which Ivy is really curious to find out about. This leads to Ivy fall out murdering the guy by cutting him across the neck with her nails. He blooms flowers right out of his mouth soon after as Ivy makes her escape with Bruce Wayne completely in her thoughts leaving Selina to question what has really happened to her friend?  The episode's real high point

Call Me By Your Name review

Image
Call Me By Your Name is much more than a movie. It is an amazing achievement in both directing acting and the ability to draw you in and make you feel for these characters. Based in the 1980's the story follows a seventeen year old boy named Elio living in Italy during the summer with his family. His father a researcher hires a new assistant named Oliver to help him over the summer months this leads to a romance blossoming between the two men as they both get to know one another more they also begin to grow closer and closer and fall in love with one another. That's the story, now some might say it's simple to which it is but it is presented in such a unique way that it is absolutely awe inspiring. First of all we have Timothee Chalament who plays Eilo. The raw emotion he put into the performance is nothing short of breathtaking as he longs to discover just who and what he truly is meant to do with his life. Armie Hammer plays Oliver. He is much stronger to Chalament&#

I,Tonya review

Image
With I,Tonya we are promised a story about a figure skater and her rise to the top of her sport and while we do get that we also get moments of it all crashing down upon her and her dysfunctional family. I,Tonya stars Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding a competitive Ice Skater who rises amongst the ranks at the US Figure Skating championships but her future in the sport in thrown into doubt when her ex-husband intervenes. Margot Robbie steals the show as the before mentioned Tonya Harding. While not all that likable throughout you do find yourself getting a connection with her character as life throws it's many ups and downs at her. Sebastian Stan puts in a stellar performance as her husband / ex-husband. I never even knew he could be this good having seen him mainly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe he didn't impress me at all but in this he is just brilliant in his role. Allison Janney on the other hand while brilliant and deserving of her academy award for actress in a support

The Flash 4x15 : Enter Flashtime review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Wow..The Flash really pulled a show stopper out of the bag with this one. For my money I'd say this is easily one of the best episodes in the show's history and I'm going to explain why.  The episode begins as we see Barry stopping time and bringing Iris into the speedforce much like he did in the courtroom during the trial of The Flash. He tells her that he can't save everyone this time and that is where the episode brings us back to before everything went down. As Barry is trying to figure out a way to run into those pockets of dimension energy that Devoe uses to move from place to place throughout the city. He enlists Cisco to help him by opening breaches for him to run into. He keeps repeating the process until Iris convinces him to stop and take a breather to which he does. They both agree to take a breather from everything and go on a date night together

Legends Of Tomorrow 3x13 : No Country For Old Dads review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Another week another fine outing for The Legends Of Tomorrow this time the story being told mainly from the villain side of things.  The episode begins as we Sara and Ava all loved up on board the waverider sharing breakfast together having spent the night together on the ship. A moment or so passes before Gary a prominent member of Ava's agency appears on the screen and informs them that Ray has sent a message through a Palmer Tech phone to the Agency. He informs them that he has been kidnapped by Damien Darhk and his daughter who now have 3 totem's in their possession. Damien even reveals he has the Fire Totem and it is why he has kidnapped Ray so he can work to fix it and restore it to it's full potential. He runs in to some obstacles however as he needs some major power energy to fix the totem. Cold Fusion is the key to this Damien tells him but Ray had never hear

Arrow 6x14 : Collision Course

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Team Arrow returns with what I'd like to call a two sided coin of an episode. The episode begins as City Hall as Oliver is surrounded by members of emergency services, school officials and other countless Star City needs. He tells them that he'll have the money that Cayden James had taken from the city back into the City's funds within 48 hours. Without it the city will be on the verge of collapse. But of course Oliver is too late as the funds have already been removed by none other than Laurel in disguise. And this is where the episode just got flat out annoying for me. The 2nd team of Dinah Rene and Curtis duke it out with Oliver Felicity and Diggle in some infuriating ways. Dinah is borderline annoying in this episode and made me think why are these two teams even fighting? I mean they are after the same goal at the end of the day. But Dinah wants revenge for Vince
