The Flash 4x16 : Run Iris Run review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it
This week's episode of The Flash is unlike any other version of Freaky Friday I've ever seen as Barry and Iris get their DNA swapped by a meta which leads to the female speedster's first showing. The episode begins as Harry and Cisco who are still trying to come up with a plan to save the remaining 3 bus meta's (4 including Ralph) but Cisco tells Harry that he needs to recharge leaving Harry by himself to muddle over things. He says to himself that Devoe is much like Thawne in a sense that he always was two steps ahead of everyone else. The next day at Star Labs Harry presents his latest creation. The Thinker cap! which is pretty much the same one that we saw Devoe wear earlier in the season and what he used to get his powers in the first place on the night of the particle accelerator explosion. Harry tells everyone that he plans to do something similar so he can match Devoe's superior level intellect. The team for the most part disagree apart from Ralph who we learn is really in fearing mode as he pretty much hides out in Star Labs not wanting to venture out in case of being captured and ultimately killed by Devoe.
Onto the most important part of the episode now and at a bank we see a meta use his heat powers to melt through thick layers or reinforced metal attempting to steal the money that lays inside. But just as he attempts to do so a guy walks up to him and tells him that he shouldn't do this. The meta ever so arrogant tosses him aside and goes to use his powers again but they have disappeared. Turns out the guy who came up to him took his powers when he touched his arm and transferred them to another guy in the bank who was laying on the floor along with all the other hostages that the before mentioned meta had taken. We later find out the guy who took the meta's powers is named Matthew Kim and he is the next bus meta which now leaves 3 meta's (including Ralph) that are still out there. Matthew Kim's powers involve him being able to transfer DNA from one powers to another with a simple touch of any part of their body. He does this to Iris and Barry as Joe and Iris go to question him he panics leaving Joe to call Barry. Barry runs to the hospital where Kim works as an EMT and this is where he grants Iris Barry's powers and we're introduced to Speedster Iris. And I'm going to be really honest she was an absolute blast to watch as the new Flash. Complete with purple lighting which was a nice touch she ventures out on her first mission to rescue people from a burning building and also help to put out the blaze. She fails miserably though leaving Cisco to breach in and rescue her as Barry is pretty much rendered helpless and left in Star Labs on comms duty. I mentioned earlier about Matthew Kim transferring the meta in the bank's DNA to another guy and this guy turns up complete with the before mentioned fire powers. Even seeming more powerful than ever. So it's Iris to the rescue complete with a new suit made by Cisco. Iris changes and runs to stop the meta who turns himself into a giant whirl of fire leaving the team dumbfounded on what to do next as imminent fire doom hangs over all the apartments in the area. This leads to Harry putting on the Thinking cap! which gives him the answer. Iris needs to create a tidal wave from the coast and use it to destroy the flames. We get the famous words from Barry himself 'Run Iris Run' and she runs creating a tidal wave destroying the flames in what was a really cool scene.

This episode ends as Barry and Iris with the help of Matthew Kim restore what he earlier caused giving us The real Flash back. Back at their apartment and Iris tells Barry that he is meant for greatness as The Flash just like she is meant to be a reporter and we see her writing a new article on her website all about what she had done earlier in the day. This episode was a whole lot of fun and easily one of my favorites this season. It didn't feature any silly jokes and Iris being a speedster was actually really cool to see. Good job Mrs West-Allen!
