The Dead Don't Die review

Image
I've always been a big fan of Zombie movies. Especially when they venture into the more comedic style of things. Written & Directed by Jim Jarmusch, The Dead Don't Die sports a pretty great cast which includes Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Selena Gomez,Chloe Sevigny and more. The Dead Don't Die does venture into both the comedy and horror side of Zombies and just what would happen if the dead did indeed rise from their graves. Part of me does wonder just how the world would react to such an outbreak. Unlikely I know but interesting nevertheless.  The Dead Don't Die follows a small town police force who are all pretty dry and deadpan. Nothing seems to even happy in their little town and the movie itself is incredibly slow paced. But for some reason I fell that it really worked here. The humor is incredibly dark, edgy and on the nose but it's absolutely hilarious at times. The first time Zombie's show up we're treated to two demented undead

Midsommar review

Image
I really do not know how to start this review if I'm being honest. Midsommar is a lot of things. It's ambitious, disturbing and completely off the rails. Starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, Will Poulter and more Midsommar is essentially one big drug like trip. The main story revolves around a girl named Dani who has been struggling with family issues. Her sister who is bipolar goes completely crazy and threatens to end her own life along with her and Dani's parents. Distraught the first 20-30 minutes of the movie show the struggle of Dani's life problems and the impact it's had on her relationship. And it's in these first 20-30 minutes where Midsommar is at it's best. When at a party and the mention of going to Sweden by Dani's boyfriends'd friend for a trip to visit his family and community it is here where the movie just flat out dies. Or at least it did for me.  It is however from this point on that Midsommar is absolutely stunning visually.

Spiderman: Far From Home review

Image
Honesstly I was never the biggest fan of Spiderman: Homecoming, the first Spiderman led movie in the MCU. It felt clunky and wasn't all that funny. Michael Keaton was fantastic however and while Tom Holland did and has impressed as Spider-Man / Peter Parker I was still not fully on board with it all. That is until now..because Spiderman: Far From Home just may very well be the greatest Spiderman movie since Spiderman 2 way back in 2004. Adding in actors like Jake Gyllenhaal to the mix and more this sequel to Homecoming improves on it's older sibling movie in so many different ways. Following on from the end of Avengers: Endgame we see Peter struggling with life. His school is going on a trip to Europe which he feels like is the perfect escape from what has been going on lately. And while all that is fine and dandy a new threat is lurking deep within in the shadows. Peter really can't catch a break can he?? So it's off to Europe and we do get some stunning locations
