Supergirl 6x5 : Prom Night! review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Time travel, outdated puns and a wonderful performance from Izabela Vidovic this week's episode of Supergirl is very special indeed. Beginning where last week's ended where Brainy backs up Nia's plan to travel back in time to get some of Kara's DNA. The exact date is May 25th 2009 and after looking at articles from that time we learn that Kenny Lee who was killed way back in season 4's trip to Midvale episode is actually alive. This is because of Crisis which changed many different pieces and aspects of the world. Kenny and Kara are now dating and have formed a duo focused on solving crimes and helping the authorities. So much so that Midvale is now called ''The luckiest place on Earth'', Nia and Brainy are the only ones to go on this trip of theirs as expertly stated by Brainy who is still very much struggling to deal with his emotio

Mortal Kombat review

Image
Video game to movie adaptations have never been anything noteworthy over the years. From Assassins's Creed to Prince Of Persia to god forbid the Mario Bros movie. But with this new, rebooted version of Mortal Kombat can the video game to movie process take a turn for the good?? as Mortal Kombat begins it's clear right from the get go that this isn't going to be your typical video game adaptation. The first 10 minutes or so are absolutely spectacular. From the fight scenes to the blood and violence it captures the source material really well and starts off the movie in the best way possible. Telling the backstory of the hero and villain who would become Sub-Zero and Scorpion respectively was a solid choice to begin. With the opening being as good as it was can the rest of the movie follow in suit? well yes and no. You see Mortal Kombat has some genuinely brilliant moments throughout but it falls under the typical flaw of previous video game to movie adaptations. The story

Supergirl 6x4 : Lost Souls review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Our journey further into the Phantom Zone begins this weeks episode of Supergirl as we see Kara, her Father and the fifth dimensional imp whose name is Nyxly exiting a portal made up of the imp's magical abilities. Upon landing they just so happen to be at the exact location that Supergirl mentioned last week. It is The Anchor and it was built by Kara's mom and inside of it is the way back home to Earth. Back on Earth and we see Miss Martian inside of an almost living nightmare / dream scenario. A scenario that let's her look upon the Prime Phantom's location and true intentions. Upon waking up we learn that even though J'onn fused his soul with hers to bring her back last week. Well turns out although she is okay she is still part Phantom. %18 Phantom to be exact and unless the crystal that houses peoples life forces is destroyed she and everyone el

Palm Springs review

Image
Starring Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioto Palm Springs is a wild ride of fun, adventure, time loops and sunshine. Right from the get go Palm Springs is a laugh a minute as Adam Samberg's character Nyles wakes up, has some alone time with his girlfriend and begins to get ready for a wedding at a lavish and luxurious venue. His girlfriend is a bridesmaid to the bride, while at the wedding reception we meet Sarah sister of the bride. Played by Cristin Milioti she is a complex character who almost immediately begins to click with Nyles as the two share drinks and joke the night away. While outside about to get busy they get interrupted by a man dressed in high tech, army like gear. He fires a bow at Nyles and hits him right in the back with an arrow. Obviously shocked by the developments Sarah screams and yells for help as Nyles begins to crawl away. He eventually arrives at the entrance to a cave that just embodies a really bright light. Sarah is hot on his tail and sees him enter.

Batwoman 2x11 : Arrive Alive review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Batwoman returns with a new episode and it kicks off with Angelique who last we saw was abducted by Black Mask's False Face Society. We see Angelique with Black Mask. He is tasking her with developing new batches of Snake Bite as Ocean is no longer around the stock has been minimal to say the least. If Angelique doesn't comply she will be forced to bathe in the acid like batch of Snake Bite that remains. Back at the bat-cave and Ryan is seen talking with Sophie over the phone. Sophie tells Ryan to stop pursing Angelique and leave it to The Crows. Of course Ryan won't let that happen and as Sophie hangs up the phone dons the bat-suit and heads out into the city after getting info from Luke about False Face Society members robbing then delivering supplies to Black Mask. We're shown this as 3 people drive cars at high speeds throughout the city but Batwom

Promising Young Woman review

Image
Promising Young Woman is director and writer Emerald Fennel's first feature debut behind the camera as a director. Starring Carey Mulligan as a woman named Cassandra Promising Young Woman is a story about revenge, love, heartbreak and the willingness to either do the right thing or not. Right from the get go the visual style of this movie pops off the screen as we're introduced to Cassandra's night time routine. You see this isn't your average happy go lucky story about a woman being successful. Instead it's seriously dark at points especially as the movie goes on. Cassandra's night time routine includes going to a bar pretending to get silly drunk in hoping that a man will come up to her and offer to take her home. What follows is a host of ''nice guys'' showing their true colors as not only is Cassandra stone cold sober in all of these outings but she is doing it all in a way to expose even the cleanest cut of men. But why is she doing this?

The Flash 7x7 : Growing Pains review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. After a season best episode last week can The Flash continue that vein of rich form this week?? the episode begins at Barry and Iris's home as we see Nora (Speedforce) making breakfast. Barry gets asked does he want juice but as he goes to pick it up his hand begins to shake and vibrate out of control. The glass breaks right in his hand leaving him to want to get to morning beverage elsewhere. Is the speedforce getting to him? 2 weeks ago we met a new character in this show called Kristen Kramer who said that Killer Frost was a fugitive and that she was on a meta most wanted list for murder, kidnap and other crimes. Well in this episode Kramer really takes the fight to Killer Frost from the get go as Frost ends up getting blamed for a crime that was done by an ice meta. It couldn't really be Frost though could it?  Barry, Chester and Joe get called to the crime sc

Supergirl 6x3 : Phantom Menaces review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Supergirl's third episode of it's final season begins pretty much where last weeks ended. We hear and see that a Phantom has forced it's way outside of Silas's body and into the wild so to speak. Silas rings up J'onn and asks him for help as the Vampire / Alien begins to feel cold and drained of life. J'onn ends up bringing him back to the base where he is placed under a thermal blanket. Brainy who has done more research on these Phantoms lets everyone else known that they are really called Zulian Manetarian and their powers consist of fear, manipulation and soul retrieval. In fact the more souls they gather the stronger they become which ties in with what is happening with Silas. As not soon after this his entire body goes pale, his eyes go red and his soul leaves his body via his mouth before shooting off. But he isn't exactly dead rather a h

Batwoman 2x10 : Time Off for Good Behavior review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Batwoman returns from it's one week hiatus with an episode that is about the past, forgetfulness and in Ryan Wilder's case doing anything and everything for the one we love. The episode begins with Batwoman taking the fight to the False Face Society stating that she is coming for Black Mask and that he can't hide from her. This is broadcast on the news as Batwoman really lays out her intentions. Soon after this we see Jacob getting into his car. Someone is sitting in the backseat and ends up knocking him out. Upon waking up he realizes something in his arm. This is the drug Snakebite and he has been drugged inside of his car which causes him to have memories of  the day he went to August Cartwright's house to find Beth. We saw this last season of course but this is done differently as this time he ends up actually finding his daughter. He wakes up from thi

The Flash 7x6 : The One With The Nineties review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. I have been thoroughly enjoying The Flash since this whole ''Forces'' storyline began a few weeks back but with this episode I think I may have found my absolute favorite overall episode in some time. The episode begins with Central City in complete chaos. From a plane in the middle of the road, to a middle aged man to a freaking dinosaur it sets itself up brilliantly. Hours before we get this moment however we're shown the exact lead up to it all which includes Cisco and Chester for the most part. Barry is pretty much non existent in this episode which I didn't mind as to be honest it didn't need him apart from the ending as we learned of the fourth and final force the Still Force. Speaking of Chester and Cisco they come up with a new invention that lets them read incoming isotopes that signal when a Force is within range. They set off to test

Supergirl 6x2 : A Few Good Women review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Following on from last week's season premiere can Supergirl continue it's good form? the episode begins in a Luthor Foundation Blood Bank which is the location of an apparent break-in. Said break-in is done by a Vampire / Alien whose break-in gets interrupted by Team Supergirl. This Vampire is from another planet and is said to have broken into the Phantom Zone. The same place which now houses Supergirl. Named Silas he was forced to leave his husband behind as he lost his sanity due to the Phantoms that reside inside of the Zone. J'onn came to know of Silas thanks to his brother and his time inside the Phantom Zone. They all go back to the Team's HQ as a plan to build a portal to the Zone gets underway. With that plan in motion and one of Dreamer using her powers to locate Supergirl inside of the Phantom Zone what actually lies inside is pure nightmare f
