Backrooms review

  Based on the hit youtube short series and video game Backrooms is all hype and hot air but is it really any good? Backrooms is a real slow burn horror as it follows a therapist and her patient. Her patient a man with alchohol problems and the owner of a failing furniture store. Inside the store lays dormant an unknown space beyond a wall in the basement. Once inside we see that it is nothing but room after room with little tweaks here and there. It's not long however before something sinister is felt leading to loss, confusion and an attempt to get in and save someone.  I've never played the game of Backrooms nor seen the shorts and other media but I really did dig the vibes and asthetics of it all. From it's almost visceral color pallete to the true mystery of the Backrooms themselves but after what is a really solid first and second act it all just falls apart at least for me.
