Call Me By Your Name review

Call Me By Your Name is much more than a movie. It is an amazing achievement in both directing acting and the ability to draw you in and make you feel for these characters. Based in the 1980's the story follows a seventeen year old boy named Elio living in Italy during the summer with his family. His father a researcher hires a new assistant named Oliver to help him over the summer months this leads to a romance blossoming between the two men as they both get to know one another more they also begin to grow closer and closer and fall in love with one another. That's the story, now some might say it's simple to which it is but it is presented in such a unique way that it is absolutely awe inspiring.

First of all we have Timothee Chalament who plays Eilo. The raw emotion he put into the performance is nothing short of breathtaking as he longs to discover just who and what he truly is meant to do with his life. Armie Hammer plays Oliver. He is much stronger to Chalament's Eilo but he has a soft exterior that is showcased in a lot of scenes throughout. I'd even go as far as to call this Hammer's best ever performance it is that good. The rest of the cast also do a good job here but it's obviously the main two leads who are the main attraction and they really do manage to draw you in almost from the get go. The pacing is also really good and doesn't even feel like it's just over 2 hour running time. Not going to go much into what happens throughout incase of spoilers but the ending is a roller coaster of emotions that I will admit reduced me to tears and not just one or two tears this was full on emotions running high.
I've never witnessed such a raw and passionate movie like this in a long time. All credit must go to the director and the actors for being able to piece all of this together and deliver what is a modern day masterpiece. This is cinema at it's finest and something you really need to be checking out very soon. Bravo!
