Spiderman: Brand New Day review

Image
The latest chapter of Spiderman in the MCU begins and with it comes a genuinely great movie that manages to juggle so many things really well without losing much quality. Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker / Spiderman and after the events of the previous movie he is all alone in NYC. Bad guys are popping up everywhere and Spiderman is doing Spidey things while Peter Parker gets put on the back burner. The movie opens with a great montage of both classic villains being apprehended and other various small time crimes being stopped by Spiderman. It's a perfect setup to a movie that introduces a ton of things from Sadie Sink's mysterious character to The Punisher playing a pretty chunky role to even a rampaging Hulk Brand New Day has got it all going on and as a whole l it handles everything well and doesn't rely on too many jokes which was very refreshing. After the events of the previous movie No Way Home I do really love how much character development Peter Parker gets he...

The Odyssey (2026) review

Image
The latest movie from Christopher Nolan has arrived and it may very well be his most epic yet. The Odyssey tells the story of the book of the same name by Homer based upon ancient Greek literature. This is Nolan's take on the story and not only does it feel very human and like an ancient awakening from it's slumber but it's got real heart. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus the legendary Greek King of Ithaca. He is tasked with starting and finishing a war to end all wars that is now known as the Trojan War. What follows is an Odyssey in more than words as Odysseus's decade journey home becomes filled with obstacles of both mental and physical.  The Odyssey really does feel like a living breathing book come to life there is passion withing every frame as Nolan showcases stunning vistas time after time and when it gets dark and gloomy boy does it too as the challenges on the way home for Odysseus who wants nothing more than to get home, keep his crew safe and be with his fami...

Evil Dead Burn review

Image
After the big success of 2023's Evil Dead Rise comes a new entry into the long running horror franchise. What do you get when you put an in law meeting at the funeral of your husband who just also just so happens to have not actually passed away but instead is an incarnation of hell itself and wants nothing to do but make the world and those he loves in it burn?? you get this movie and boy oh boy is this movie a trip. Evil Dead movies have always not been for the faint of heart but Burn goes above and beyond in it's attempt at spilling as much blood as possible in a movie that is half part intense and grotesque and the other a really cheesey final act packed with uninspired CGI. Blood, blood and more blood seemed to be on the agenda for all involved in bringing Evil Dead Burns to life as it sort of shys away from the original concept of the dead rising from the grave thanks to the book of the dead in it's stead is a long standing family drama in the form of a real living ...

Moana (2026) review

Image
The latest Disney live action remake of a beloved classic animated movie comes in the form of Moana a movie that is barely a decade old. With that in mind is this just a cash grab or does it hold it's own value?? well..it's the former unfortunately as Moana is pretty much just a retelling of the original movie in live action form and it doesn't nearly hold or look as charming as the original did almost a decade ago now. The visuals are so off putting at points it's almost nauseating with uncomfortable views of a blatant backdrop / green screen present especially in the water scenes it's really so off putting and doesn't help in what is otherwise a basic and rather bland live action remake of Moana.  The Rock is back as demi god Maui sporting a pretty ridiculous wig and much like the lackluster visuals it's just really off putting as it doesn't seem to sit right nor does it really add anything and I know the original character had hair like this but sur...
