Rocketman review

Image
Everyone knows Elton John. His songs are revolutionary and his costume choice extremely over the top and camp. But I don't think many know the real Elton. Born Reginald Dwight a young shy boy from England whose life isn't exactly typical for a child. His father is always away and even when he does come home he shows little to no attention for his son. His mother is always around but too doesn't show much interest for her son. His whole life changes however when he discovers his talents for the piano and from there his life gets turned upside down into a rollercoaster of sex, drugs, drink and everything else in between. With Rocketman and given how it is a musical biopic you're guaranteed 4 things. The rise of the star, the major success of the star, the downfall period and finally the rise back to the top. It's a pretty cliche formula by this point as we've seen it in Bohemian Rhapsody, Ray and others. That is however not to say that it's a bad formula

Aladdin review

Image
Growing up I loved the original 1992 version of Aladdin. I had it on VHS and always used to rewind the tape time and time again to revisit Aladdin and his adventure in Agrabah. Well will this new live action version of the story live up to the source material?? Directed by Guy Ritchie Aladdin doesn't begin in Agrabah but instead a small ship. The man on the ship begins to tell the story of Aladdin, The Princess and The Genie to his kids and it is then we're brought into the first of many musical numbers. At first glance Aladdin is incredibly beautiful to look at. The production design and cinematography here is stellar from the majority of the movie. Of course there's some need I say dodgy looking CG affects but for the most part it is one of the most best looking movies visually this year.  What separates Aladdin from other live action remakes of old Disney classics however is it's performance. Well let me rephrase that. Performance. As Will Smith takes the role o

Legends Of Tomorrow 4x16 : Hey World! review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.  The season finale of Legends Of Tomorrow's fourth season has come and gone and with it we're given a big tease to next season, the reuniting of friends and even the departing of another. It begins aboard the waverider as we see Mick sharing a beer with one of the magical creatures. All the magical creatures from this season are now aboard the waverider out of Neron's reach. Speaking of Neron he and the Fairy Godmother use Charlie's powers to transform her into a member of senate so that they can reveal that magical creatures are indeed real and are a big threat. Fairy Godmother turns her into Tugamo the giant octopus like creature from earlier in the season. The entire scene descends into chaos as Sara fights with the Fairy Godmother for control of her staff. At the end of last week's episode we seen that the dragon egg that adult Zari left behind at her chi

Supergirl 4x22 : The Quest For Peace review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.  The season finale of Supergirl's fourth season has come and gone and with it we're given a look into the future, a shocking reveal and lots more. The episode begins 24 hours previous to Lex saving America at the end of last week's episode. We begin to see Lex's plan play out in more detail. His betrayal of Kaznia who fire an ungodly amount of missiles at the US. Lex saves the day in his Lex-O suit in a truly incredible scene that sees him flying through the air destroying missiles, defying gravity and wallowing in the explosions he leaves behind. He's doing all of this as My Way by Frank Sinatra plays much like it did earlier in the season. But this time we have the honor of hearing Lex sing along with joyful glee as his plan falls perfectly into place. I've said it previously but Jon Cryer really has nailed the character of Lex Luthor. Also helps that

The Flash 5x22 : Legacy review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.  The season finale of The Flash's fifth season has come and gone and with it we're show a lot of glimpses into the future, tearful goodbyes and even the return of The Flash's greatest enemy. The episode begins where last week's ended as Ralph screams out to The Flash to not shoot Cicada's dagger with the mirror gun. As we know Flash already fired off a shot but Ralph ends up getting in the way of the dagger which passes right through him. Ralph takes the shot and seems fine but seconds later his entire body morphs into something truly horrible. It honestly looks like an 8-bit version of himself. He right away is knocked out and back at Star Labs Caitlin says all his cells have somehow inverted themselves. Sherloque suggests that Cisco use his vibe power to give Ralph a good shakeup. Cisco agrees and hits Ralph with a jolt of energy, Ralph's body morphs

Arrow 7x22 : You Have Saved This City review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.  The season finale of Arrow's seventh season has come and gone and with it we're given a lot of questions left unanswered as the Arrowverse truly enters through the end of an era. Beginning where last week ended and after Emiko got away SCPD officers show up and accuse Team Arrow of murdering 6 people inside the building below. They all end up escaping but are considering high fugitives. Back at the Bunker and luckily they have help in the form of Laurel and Curtis who show up to aid the team. They also get help from Bronze Tiger of all people who is glad to help after being granted parole. The team learn of a bomb threat in the city, a threat that keeps on shifting location as Emiko has hidden the detonator somewhere. Eventually they learn of the detonator's location and it's at Palmer Tech. The formally Queen Consolidated building. Inside everyone deals with

Legends Of Tomorrow 4x15 : Terms Of Service review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.  The penultimate episode of Legend's fourth season has come and gone and it is as wacky and over the top as you'd expect. Beginning in present day Washington DC we see a young Zari at her home. Her mom walks into the room and is heavily pregnant. She says her young brother seemingly can't wait to meet her as he has been kicking a lot. Zari switches on the TV and is greeted by Ray Palmer (Who is Neron as we know) and sees that he is to launch a new app. It is to be presented at a conference which he calls Palmer X 2019. He ends the advert by saying, and remember the world is in the palmer...of your hand. Moving on and at the Time Bureau we see Gary getting a massage. Turns out him and The Fairy Godmother have bonded and she is to grant anything he desires. Obviously The Fairy Godmother wants Gary to wish ungodly harm especially on the legends. But the first thing he

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.  The penultimate episode of Supergirl's fourth season has come and gone and with it we're given revelations, re-connecting between sisters and much more. Beginning with a very much welcome of Young Kara & Alex from season 3 we see the two attempting to clap and sing along to a song. They stand over a ledge and as Kara claps again she destroys a part of the cliff leading to both girls falling off. But we don't see the outcome until a bit later as almost instantly as Kara claps her hands together Alex is seen waking up. With Kelly by her side again she says that it feels like a part of her is missing and that her dream was about Kara. Could her memory be attempting to reconstruct itself? as earlier in the season we seen Jonn completely wipe it and later he reassures Kara that there is nothing she can do. If she tried to tell Alex that she is Supergirl it's al

The Flash 5x21 : The Girl With The Red Lightning review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.  The penultimate episode of The Flash's fifth season has come and gone and with it we're given one heck of a twist ending going into next week's big finale. It begins with Eobard Thawne and the timer outside his prison that we've been seeing ticking down for a while now. Well it finally hits 0. The guard who we've previously seen also walks into the room and mentions how it's been 15 years. And also how it's ironic that the same thing that gives him powers is the same thing that is going to be the end of him. The last thing we see of him for a while is a gurney outside his cell which he will be loaded onto. Back at Star Labs and after learning last week that Cicada was going to turn the meta human cure into a weapon Barry and co try to come with a solution in helping meta humans in the city. Eventually coming up with setting up a distribution cen

Arrow 7x21 : Living Proof review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.  The penultimate episode of Arrow's 7th season has come and gone. And with it we learn a lot of things and look forward to what is sure to be one heck of a showdown between Oliver and Emiko. The episode begins where last week's ended as Oliver wakes up under a pile of ruble from the building that Emiko destroyed. Oliver turns his head to the side and sees various arrows and his bow that is broken. But that's not the most important thing. The episode having only just began surprised me with the inclusion of Tommy Merlyn right off the bat. Him and Oliver interact for a bit but it's left there for a few moments as we gotta deal with the rest of the team after the building's explosion. Well the first person we see is Roy, then Diggle, Dinah and finally Rene who seemed to have gotten the worst impact. All are fine however but want to find Oliver. Felicity get
