The Flash 5x4 : News Flash revew

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it A creative title for this episode for sure as not only does it feature a lot of headlines that induce hypnosis but also the person who causes the trouble is a reporter. It all begins as we're brought back to the ending of season 4 where Nora helped Barry destroy Devoe's satellite. Back on the ground Nora also saves a woman from death but not before this woman's eyes turn purple and she becomes (later in the episode) the villain of this episode. At Barry and Iris's apartment we see Iris making breakfast for her Barry and Nora who right away you notice there is something wrong with. Iris makes lightning bolt shaped pancakes for both Flash's which turn out horrible but Barry being the good husband that he is says they are delicious. Nora is not convinced however as the relationship between her and Iris really heats up throughout the episode.  Barry along with o

Arrow 7x3 : Crossing Lines review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Picking up right where things left off last week we see Felicity trying to convince Agent Watson to help her take down Diaz once and for all. Watson tells Felicity that it's not that simple as the FBI have other people on their list to take down also. Felicity tells her that she has practically ruined her life with Oliver in prison and William having been sent away. Agent Watson stands her ground and refuses to help. This leads to Felicity planting a bug in her office which we don't see her do but later we see Rene and Felicity monitoring goings on as Agent Watson meets with her boss who tells her that chasing Diaz is a big problem with little to no evidence as it'll be a total waste of resources. Felicity mentions Watson actually having a heart as she obviously does want to help but not at the cost of her job.  In prison and after getting rid of the cop at the end

Legends Of Tomorrow 4x2 : Witch Hunt review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Another week and yet another incredibly entertaining episode of Legends Of Tomorrow. It begins on the waverider as Ray and the others come up with a way to find magical creatures throughout time using the knuckle bones that Constantine left Sara last week. Speaking of Constantine as Sara mentions about him not wanting to join the legends he appears on board the waverider and agrees to help them as they'd be completely lost without him. As soon as he says this a magical creature is located in Salem 1692 during the witch trials which is not a very good hiding place if indeed the creature is a witch (obviously) so Sara, Ray, Zari and Mick set off complete with 1692 style outfits to find out what the issues is. Turns out it's not a witch at all it's a Fairy Godmother of all things. Turns out the fairy godmother has formed a bond with a young girl named Prudence who's

Supergirl 4x3 : Man Of Steel review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Much like episode 3 of Supergirl's third season this episode is incredibly well told and really interesting. It begins where last week ends as Supergirl who after being hit with Kryptonite from the device that Mercy & Otis Graves along with a DEO put into the atmosphere. Alex learns of the current goings on rather quickly and asks Jonn to rescue Kara from plummeting to her death. He does within split seconds of her hitting the ground and takes her back to the DEO where Brainiac-5 tells everyone that she is hurt really bad. So with time running out Jonn has Brainiac go get the shield they used to help beat Astra and Alex turns on yellow sunlight over a motionless Kara. But that's not the real story of the episode as the real star here is Agent Liberty or should I say Ben Lockwood. A man with a family, a disgruntled father and the co runner of Lockwood Family Steel alon

Bohemian Rhapsody review

Image
The entire world over knows who Freddy Mercury is. He was one of the most flamboyant figures in music history and one of the entire industry's greatest performers. As a part of the band Queen he and his band mates provided countless hits over the years while they were together and changed the way people interpret music but with Bohemian Rhapsody we're offered a pretty deep look at Freddy's personal life. Real name Farrokh Bulsara and of Pakistan parents Freddy who is an aspiring lead singer and song writer as the movie begins and as it ends he completely transforms into the persona of Freddy Mercury that is known and loved worldwide. Bohemian Rhapsody follows the journey of Queen on their journey to their performance at Live Aid in July of 1985. Along the way are also 3 real big moments or should I say songs that really impacted Queen over the years. Starting with Killer Queen through to Bohemian Rhapsody itself and finally Another One Bites The Dust it is all completely

The Flash : 5x3 The Death Of Vibe review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of The Flash begins in the Flash Museum 2032 where we see a young Nora walking around. Inside is a bunch of easter eggs from both past and I'm sure future events of the show. As a young Nora walks around the current day Nora explains to everyone just who and what Cicada is. Apparently nobody has ever been able to defeat him. Not Supergirl, not The Flash nor The Legends or even The League (which I'm assuming is the Justice League??) she also mentions that he is in Central City earlier than expected as his first victim wasn't supposed to be Gridlock. Barry mentions it's because of Nora being with them it's sent tiny ripple effects through time which is entirely possible. Nora comes up with a solution however and it is to bring a Wells from the multiverse to their Earth. So introducing Sherloque Wells a master detective of the multiverse a

Goosebumps 2 : Haunted Halloween review

Image
Growing up I was always a fan of Goosebumps. From the books to the TV show I used to love watching and reading about the wonderfully weird and sometimes scary stories from R.L. Stine. And after what was a rather impressive first movie can it's sequel keep the that trend going?? well yes and no. You see Haunted Halloween pretty much follows the same story from the previous movie. Two young kids unknowingly help unleash an ungodly amount of monsters and must fight back to return them to the book or R.L. Stine. It's a pretty basic set up and even though it was fine in the first movie here it just feels so repetitive to the point where you question if you're watching the same movie all over again. Almost like it's been copy and pasted from 2015 and touched up with a few tweaks to improve it. The characters aren't even as likable apart from the main lead actress who steals the show in my opinion. The performances are lackluster and quite frankly boring at times. It

Arrow 7x2 : The Longbow Hunters review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of Arrow begins with a new opening dialogue piece in which Oliver narrates the past couple of months. A nice touch I thought if nothing else. We learn that a lot of the prisoners are now afraid of Oliver after the ending of last week's episode. We also learn that he was taken to the same place that Bronze Tiger was taken last week for 2 days as a punishment for what he did. All seems to be going okay for Oliver..well about as good as it could possibly get to be honest. Things on the outside are also not so good as The Longbow Hunters arrives in Star City. Working with Diaz they steal a battery which Felicity and ARGUS (mainly Diggle) continuously clash over throughout the episode. Felicity wants Diaz dead for what he did to Oliver, her William and everyone else in Star City. Dig on the other is not so convinced that's the way to do things and as I

Legends Of Tomorrow 4x1 : The Virgin Gary review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Legends Of Tomorrow returns for it's 4th season and my what an episode to return with. After what in my opinion was some of the finest TV the Arrowverse has ever produced in Legend's third season the show returns but this time with a completely new spin on it's cast, crew and challenges. The episode begins as we see the legends escorting The Beatles through an airport before an invader from the British Revolution shows up. He is quickly escorted away by the team. It's a simple set up but the episode just takes off from there as back on the waverider Nick, Ray, Zari and Mick all seem down and out with only Sara seeming happy and confident about the situation. They defeated Mallus and they should be happy she tells her fellow legends but Nate responds by telling her that he expected monsters and magic by now and nothing has happened. This is because of Constantine w

Supergirl 4x2 : Fallout review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it After last week's solid season 4 premiere episode 2 of Supergirl's new season builds upon it so well and offers a look into just what this season will be all about. It begins outside the white house as after being outed as an alien the president of the United States resigns from her post with immediate effect leaving the vice president in charge. As it feels bleak inside on the outside the White House isn't so great either as mass hysteria and chaos runs wild given that people who trusted the president feel like they've been turned on by a traitor, and just as both sides of people try to attack one another Supergirl swoops in and stops it all proudly holding the American flag in her hand standing tall to show where her loyalties lie.  Back at the DEO and after being apprehended last week Alex continues to interrogate Otis Graves to find out where is sister is an

Halloween review

Image
40 years ago the original Halloween movie was released and even today it still holds up well and is considered by many an all time horror classic. So can this follow up to that classic deliver a final and well rounded out final chapter in the story of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers?? this version of Halloween is unlike another of it's previous sequels. It feels about as close to the original as you could get honestly and it does offer a varied horror trip even if at times it holds back a little ever so slightly, especially in a beginning that feels far too long and stretched out. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her iconic role and she alongside Michael Myers himself are the stand outs here. Both a mother and a grandmother now the tole of what happened to her 40 years ago is shown really well in her actions and the impact that it's had on her family as they all seem to distance themselves from her. Jamie Lee Curtis carries the movie throughout and her dread and sense of threat tow

The Flash 5x2 : Blocked review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of The Flash begins with a flashback to what happened after the ending of last week's episode as Cicada attacks and ultimately ends up killing Gridlock. Cicada is also featured a bit more as we see him unmasked and with all sorts of cuts on his body. Skip to Joe's house and inside Nora explains why she is here in their time and why she isn't going home any time soon. She wants to spend time with her dad Barry who as we saw last week disappears and doesn't seem to ever return in the future. This further drives a wedge between Iris and Nora who don't really interact throughout which makes me wonder what just happened with them in the future?? all Nora seems to care about is Barry which is understandable but even so things seem off whenever Iris is around. Cisco's love life or lack there of now is heavily featured also throughout as he

First Man review

Image
Based on true events First Man gives us a look at the life of astronaut Neil Armstrong, and the legendary space mission the led him to become the first man to walk on the moon on July 20th 1969. First Man reunites La La Land duo Ryan Gosling and Damien Chazelle and it is a thrilling, compelling and at times utterly astounding piece of cinema. First off you've Ryan Gosling who at first seems like a quiet man with little or nothing to say but by the end of of the movie and by the time he actually walks on the moon he has completely transformed himself. His performance overall is faultless in my opinion and it's backed by another stellar performance from Claire Foy who plays his other half. She brings the passion when it's needed and offers a different side to the movie when it's time to cool down after some pretty intense scenes of successful and failed space missions. Speaking of the space missions they are thrilling, exciting and downright scary at times. It's al

Arrow 7x1 : Inmate 4587 review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Arrow returns for it's 7th season on a new night and new time slot. While season 6 was solid throughout it didn't quite offer the same sense of overall greatness that season 5 offered but with this episode season 7 is off to a really impressive start. It begins in prison as Oliver is awoke by a security officer before we're shown Oliver's daily routine inside the prison. He gets up, works out, has some god awful looking feud and goes back to his cell where he looks at a picture of Felicity and William. It all looks pretty miserable but it's all made worse for Oliver given that all the villains and foes he's helped lock up the past 6-7 years are sharing the same prison with him. So he meets Brick again, and Sampson and Turner who we last saw in season's 1,2,3 and 5 respectively. They intimidate Oliver throughout which leads to a scuffle between them lea

Supergirl 4x1 : American Alien review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Supergirl returns for a fourth season on a new date and a new time but it's the same old Kara Zor El we've come to know and love for the past 4 years. The episode begins in super fashion (pun intended) as Supergirl is show doing various heroic duties throughout the world. She recovers a child's balloon, she helps retrieve a piece of Art in Madrid and helps stop a train from completely derailing in Kasnia. It's all fast paced and a great opening to the episode. Back in National City the president of the USA has agreed to be a part of an Alien meeting in Camp David, this is where Kara multitasks and enters her Kara Danvers persona and asks the president some questions before ultimately telling James Olson that for the first time in a long time it feels like everything in her life is under control. Of course Kara may have spoken too soon as various hate crimes agains

Bad Times at the El Royale review

Image
Bad Times at the El Royale is a lot of things. It's ambitious, it's unique and most of all it's deliriously entertaining. The story follows a group of strangers who meet up at the El Royale hotel, a hotel with a dark past sitting on the border between Nevada and California. But the hotel isn't the only thing with a dark past as the characters who end up checking in each too have a secret of their own. The cast is really impressive as you've got Jeff Bridges, Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson and more. Each don't interact with one another all that much throughout and it just adds to the suspicion and intrigue that you almost immediately get when the characters are introduced. The setting is mostly in the hotel and it too is also a character of it's own with various rooms filled with dark pasts and an overall sense of creepiness. The pacing is excellent throughout as it jumps from one's character perspective to another as the night drags on

The Flash 5x1 : Nora review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. The Flash returns for it's fifth season and what a way to return. Taking off pretty much from where season 4 ended we're introduced to Nora-West Allen who we learn is The Flash in Central City 30 years from the current time period. She tells everyone at Joe's house that she is stuck in the current time because of a mistake she made and also confesses that it was she who helped Barry take down Devoe's satellite at the end of last season. This mean's she's stuck with her mom, dad and everyone else of Team Flash whom she hopes can help her find a way home. Barry even has Wally consult the Legends to see if they can find a way home for Nora. Right off you see the connection between Barry and Nora who instantly hit it off (even if Nora gets on Barry's nerves sometimes) the two are so much fun to watch on screen together. The same can not really be said for

A Star Is Born review

Image
Featuring the directorial debut of it's main star Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born is an ambitious and dazzling achievement in film making. Following the story of a musician named Jack (Cooper) as he helps a young woman named Ally (Lady Gaga) find fame and success in the music industry. It's a simple story but A Star Is Born is elevated to unbelievable heights by the performances of it's two main stars. First off is Lady Gaga who at times is absolutely astounding in her role as a struggling woman who goes from signing in bars and waiting on tables to being featured on Saturday Night Live she plays the role perfectly, never forgetting who she is and want she wants to do to succeed. But it's Bradley Cooper who turns in a career defining performance as Jack. A loved musician who's life spirals out of control as quickly as Ally's rises. Becoming addicted to alcohol and drugs his performance is raw, passionate and emotional. The pacing is great throughout and whi
