  1) The Batman - Was there ever any doubt in The Batman being my favorite piece of cinema this year?? absolutely not. Written and directed by Matt Reeves this take on The Dark Knight was sheer quality from beginning to end. From the utterly fantastic opening 10 minutes and introduction to this very different version of Batman to the villainous Riddler, Penguin and even Catwoman The Batman was a sight to behold this year and something I have gone back and enjoyed a couple more times since. Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman was a bold choice but boy did he pull it off. With a near constant rain effect and a fantastic supporting cast including Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman I have no trouble crowning The Batman as my ultimate, favorite movie of 2022.  2) Top Gun : Maverick - I was never the biggest fan of the original Top Gun movie.                 Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. So here we are. The final episode of Stargirl. This is it and boy what a way to go out. The episode begins nine months in the past as we're shown the real Starman's grave. It's not long before Sylvester is seen strapped to a gurney completely tied down unable to move. Jordan (Icicle) enters the scene and we now know that he has been alive for quite much longer than expected. He tells Sylvester that the people will listen to Starman, they will support him even vote for him if he ran for President. This is why he will be Jordan's voice. Sylvester of course refuses but he really has no say here as Dragon King is also present along with the Ultra-Humanite who at this point is still in control of the Albino Gorilla, he's even strapped into a gurney next to Starman. The second last ever episode of Stargirl has come and gone and with it we got a BIG twist involving Starman and a look at what is to come in next weeks series finale. The episode opens up decades in the past however as we're shown an actress named Dolores Winters winning an award. As we know from before this is one of Ultra-Humanite's body disguises. His brain is inside of this woman and has been for quite some time by all accounts. Dolores is loved by her peers and fans alike and after winning her award returns to her room where it's clear that Ultra-Humanite is meeting with someone. And indeed that is the case but not before he is interrupted by a fellow actor who makes his intentions clear. He is madly in love with Dolores which only angers her leading to Dolores Winters committing murder in cold blood. None other than Dragon King ( Dr Itoh ) soon show
