Legends Of Tomorrow 4x2 : Witch Hunt review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it
Another week and yet another incredibly entertaining episode of Legends Of Tomorrow. It begins on the waverider as Ray and the others come up with a way to find magical creatures throughout time using the knuckle bones that Constantine left Sara last week. Speaking of Constantine as Sara mentions about him not wanting to join the legends he appears on board the waverider and agrees to help them as they'd be completely lost without him. As soon as he says this a magical creature is located in Salem 1692 during the witch trials which is not a very good hiding place if indeed the creature is a witch (obviously) so Sara, Ray, Zari and Mick set off complete with 1692 style outfits to find out what the issues is. Turns out it's not a witch at all it's a Fairy Godmother of all things. Turns out the fairy godmother has formed a bond with a young girl named Prudence who's mom is being trailed for being a witch. The Fairy Godmother's introduction is absolutely amazing and hilarious as Sara even says what kind of Disney stuff is this?? complete with a classic blue dress the Fairy Godmother plays off Prudence who wants nothing but her mom to be safe. So the legends agree to help her mom but it's Zari especially who takes this to heart as we saw last week she is still reeling from seeing her own mom in 2018 and not being able to help her. Z even bails on the team and goes to talk to Prudence's mom directly to try and convince her that she should be there for her daughter, that she needs her mother. This scene was an emotional one for sure.
Back in 2018 and we see that Nate is still trying to bond with his father as the two share a dinner which Nate fails to afford as his credit card gets declined. Who'd have guessed that the legends don't get paid. Only in friendship according to Nate who tells his dad that he doesn't need his help. Not now and not ever. Later at her office we see Ava who is coming up with new ways to get a budget from her bosses. She is completely thrown when she bumps into Nate who turns out is now living in the Time Bureau as he is literally broke. Ava tells him he can stay if he helps her with her pitch to her bosses the following day to which he agrees. The next day as Nate, Ava and Gary all make their way to the boardroom it turns out the Time Bureau boss is in fact Nate's dad (what a shocker) and Nate right away refuses to help Ava so Gary has to step in and as usual he spoils things in a hilarious way. Nate's dad Hank refuses outright to fund the Time Bureau any further until he is given proof of magical creatures and later towards the end of the episode Ray and Mick are turned into pigs by the Fairy Godmother Nate jumps to the waverider and returns Ray to the boardroom where after the Fairy Godmother is defeated by all other members of the legends returns to his normal self. Hank is left with no choice but to fund The Time Bureau going forward with 4.2 billion dollars a year.
Speaking of the other legends in Salem it's Zari who really steps up to the plate and stages her own attempt at rescuing Prudence's mom from the angry witch hating mob. I really loved how much Zari was featured throughout this episode as she ups the intensity and emotional factor. Her attempt to free the would be witch is unsuccessful at first as she too is ultimately treated as a witch by the people of Salem. But it's the rest of the legends who come to save her but not before Zari can help Prudence see the light and banish her Fairy Godmother leaving Constantine to banish her to hell like he did with the Unicorn in last week's episode but not before she tells him that even she wouldn't want to be him as someone is coming for John and he is not happy. So that's another magical creature down. The Fairy Godmother was completely bonkers and so Disney like you wouldn't believe it. Mentioning stuff like Cinderella's glass slipper and even going as far as to sign a Disney style song when she first appeared. She was a totally ridiculous addition but in the best way possible and also one character that I will remember for a long time to come. The episode comes to a close at the Time Bureau as Ray prepares to head back to the waverider he thinks Nate is coming along with but Nate tells him that he's going to stick around The Time Bureau for a while and get his relationship with his dad on better terms. Ray agrees and says he'll see him soon.
As you can probably tell I loved this episode. Legends Of Tomorrow is on a serious roll since season 3 began. It's been scarily consistent at times and downright brilliant. One of it not the most entertaining shows on TV right now. Miss this show at your peril.
