D.C.Reviews

I've been a Damien Chazelle fan for quite some time now. From La, La Land and Whiplash to The First Man he has proved to be quite the excellent filmmaker over the years. So now with this his newest movie can it succeed or will it be the beginning of his end?? Babylon is a masterfully crafted piece of cinema that is at it's essence a tribute to cinema itself. The story follows the story of three different characters who stories all intertwine with one another. Firstly there is Margot Robbie who knows she is a star, wants to be a star but isn't quite a star yet. The energy she brings to the role especially at the beginning is absolutely stellar. This is arguably her greatest ever performance it's really that good. She oozes sex appeal and charisma and will take your breath away.  Secondly is Brad Pitt who plays a big movie star, and Diego Calva who is a dreamer just wanting to be a part of the movies. It's all brilliantly told with a big, brash and loud soundtrack i...

Horror has become somewhat of my favorite genre the past few years. From Cabin in the Woods and Happy Death Day, to last years Barbarian to the latest Scream movie the genre has surprised and entertained me so much. So with this new movie named M3GAN can it continue that trend? or will this movie end up a broken old mess of junk thrown into the corner?? well the answer to that question right away is no. M3GAN is a unique, original and fascinating movie from beginning to end. M3GAN is an A.I. marvel. A lifelike doll that is programmed to pair with a child and be their friend. protector and everything else in-between. Designed by a scientist named Gemma who has recently had to take guardianship of her young niece she designs and implements M3GAN as a major part of her nieces life after the death of her parents.  Right away the Child's Play similarities are clear at least they were to me. A doll who seems friendly but really has a lot more actual bad intentions on it's mind. Th...

  1) The Batman - Was there ever any doubt in The Batman being my favorite piece of cinema this year?? absolutely not. Written and directed by Matt Reeves this take on The Dark Knight was sheer quality from beginning to end. From the utterly fantastic opening 10 minutes and introduction to this very different version of Batman to the villainous Riddler, Penguin and even Catwoman The Batman was a sight to behold this year and something I have gone back and enjoyed a couple more times since. Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman was a bold choice but boy did he pull it off. With a near constant rain effect and a fantastic supporting cast including Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman I have no trouble crowning The Batman as my ultimate, favorite movie of 2022.  2) Top Gun : Maverick - I was never the biggest fan of the original Top Gun movie. I enjoyed it but was never truly blown away by it or anything but with this...

Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. So here we are. The final episode of Stargirl. This is it and boy what a way to go out. The episode begins nine months in the past as we're shown the real Starman's grave. It's not long before Sylvester is seen strapped to a gurney completely tied down unable to move. Jordan (Icicle) enters the scene and we now know that he has been alive for quite much longer than expected. He tells Sylvester that the people will listen to Starman, they will support him even vote for him if he ran for President. This is why he will be Jordan's voice. Sylvester of course refuses but he really has no say here as Dragon King is also present along with the Ultra-Humanite who at this point is still in control of the Albino Gorilla, he's even strapped into a gurney next to Starman. The operation gets underway which also includes Dragon King himself putti...

Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. The second last ever episode of Stargirl has come and gone and with it we got a BIG twist involving Starman and a look at what is to come in next weeks series finale. The episode opens up decades in the past however as we're shown an actress named Dolores Winters winning an award. As we know from before this is one of Ultra-Humanite's body disguises. His brain is inside of this woman and has been for quite some time by all accounts. Dolores is loved by her peers and fans alike and after winning her award returns to her room where it's clear that Ultra-Humanite is meeting with someone. And indeed that is the case but not before he is interrupted by a fellow actor who makes his intentions clear. He is madly in love with Dolores which only angers her leading to Dolores Winters committing murder in cold blood. None other than Dragon Kin...

Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. After what was a pretty shocking reveal at the end of last weeks episode in the form of Jordan Mehkent (Icicle) actually being alive and well not only did he kill the Crocks in cold blood but it has been him who has been watching everybody in Blue Valley. This weeks episode opens up at the end of season one where we see Courtney and Icicle battling atop the of the Blue Valley clocktower. As we know it was Mike who ended up shattering Icicle into tiny little pieces as he drove right through him. Well at the time this looked to be a good thing but in truth Icicle didn't perish here, instead he merely became stronger and one with his true form. Soon after he was shattered into pieces we see the pieces of Icicle turn to a mushy watery liquid form as they join together and make their way to a nearby sewer drain. It enters the sewers and ...

Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. After what was a truly mindblowing reveal at the end of last weeks episode of Stargirl how will this weeks episode follow it all up?? the episode begins as we see The Crocks at home we see Artemis's many, many awards and accolades throughout the home. This is very much a Crock central episode and by the time it all ends it's pretty heartbreaking. We soon catch up with Mike and Jakeem who are very much still scared and running for their life from the Ultra-Humanite. After using a wish the Thunderbolt places them in the middle of a wooded area with no phone coverage or basically anything to truly help them. The search for the two continues throughout the episode but ultimately it is the boys themselves who make it home but more on that in a bit. Also during last weeks episode we were treated to one of the most intense, wild and highly...
