Stargirl 3x11 : Frenemies - Chapter eleven : The Haunting review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
After what was a pretty shocking reveal at the end of last weeks episode in the form of Jordan Mehkent (Icicle) actually being alive and well not only did he kill the Crocks in cold blood but it has been him who has been watching everybody in Blue Valley. This weeks episode opens up at the end of season one where we see Courtney and Icicle battling atop the of the Blue Valley clocktower. As we know it was Mike who ended up shattering Icicle into tiny little pieces as he drove right through him. Well at the time this looked to be a good thing but in truth Icicle didn't perish here, instead he merely became stronger and one with his true form. Soon after he was shattered into pieces we see the pieces of Icicle turn to a mushy watery liquid form as they join together and make their way to a nearby sewer drain. It enters the sewers and it is done there where Icicle has been growing stronger and stronger seemingly planning his next attack on the JSA and all those who done him wrong. So Jordan is back and it's not long before he is back in a big way as he returns home to see his parents and son Cameron but also he returns to his old office at the American Dream.
As Jordan returns home everyone can't believe that he is back but he assures them that he is infact here and tells Cameron that it wasn't Courtney who killed him rather it was Mike in an attempt to protect her brother. Cameron isn't exactly happy his father is back rather he's a bit timid, much like Barbara at her office just mere seconds after learning of The Crocks deaths as the JSA along with Artemis find their remains along with all the monitors that were being used to watch over them in the sewers. Barbara doesn't share everyone else's excitement that Jordan is back rather she is very timid like Cameron and a bit worried because Jordan is playing things a bit too cool. He even suggests that the JSA and he form an alliance to stop the Ultra-Humanite. Jordan offers Courtney the same proposition later on and there's a lot to think over here.
The episode draws to a close as Sylvester learns that Icicle is back and his rage immediately takes over leading to him destroying the barn where Ultra-Humanite was originally encountered. He is livid that Jordan is back because after all it was him who killed him and put him in the ground. Starman is strongly for getting revenge here and it's pretty clear he wants everyone else to help him including Courtney who after meeting with Jordan shows her strong heart and trusting side again as she is skeptical of Jordan sure but she also thinks he could mean what he said and is in-fact wanting to help the JSA against Ultra-Humanite. Could she be right? the episode ends with a couple of things. Firstly is Artemis who is completely heartbroken and distraught after learning about her parents demise. It's a different side of Artemis as we see her comforted by Barbara who says she shouldn't be alone right now. The episode ends with Jordan though as firstly we see Cameron looking for his dad. He can't find him because Jordan is deep in the woods as none other than Ultra-Humanite appears out of the woods as Jordan tells him that it is time. Looks like Starman was right and Jordan hasn't changed one bit. The episode ends with the two villains seemingly having formed an alliance but what could be planned?? Stargirl now takes a week hiatus and will return with the final two ever episodes on November 30th. As for this episode I liked it a lot. It was very character driven with a great narrative of Jordan's return running throughout. Stargirl has been a joy to watch these past 3 years and with only 2 episodes left it will be quite emotional to say goodbye soon.
