D.C.Reviews

In what has been a long time coming and a passion project for Dwayne Johnson Black Adam finally arrives on the big screen making his DC film debut. Black Adam's story is one of slavery, power and ultimately becoming a symbol for the people of your home. It stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular anit-hero real name Teth Adam. He is imprisoned in a tomb with thousands of years having passed since he was cast into the tomb by the very same wizards who gave Billy Batson the power to turn into the hero Shazam. Thousands of years have passed in the city of Khandaq which is now under control by a group named Intergang they rule over with a pretty concrete fist. That all changes when a group of people come across the tomb of Black Adam when looking for a crown that is said to have belonged to a King of Khandaq years previous, the same King that Black Adam defeated in a pretty brutal manner. It is from here where the story truly kicks into gear as the things heat up in big and bombastic way....

Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. This weeks episode of Stargirl is part one of a two parter episode arc revolving around Jennie and Todd Rice. The episode begins six months in the past as we catch up with Jennie who last we saw helped Courtney and everyone else defeat Eclipso. She is at the care home she grew up in and is now leaving ready to out on her own. She sits on the steps of the building and looks inside of a package she was given by the woman who runs the care home. Inside we see a toy car, a photo of her and her brother Todd when they were kids and finally most important is the Green Lantern ring once belonging to Alan Scott. As Jennie picks up the ring we're brought to Civic City where we finally meet Todd Rice who just so happens to be sneaking into a building with his friend Danny as it's his birthday and Danny has prepared a special meal for the two. ...

Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. After a lackluster 2 episodes Stargirl returns to form and in a big way. The episode begins with Rick who we see going into the gym at night to test out his hourglass after last week removing the limiter on it. He is easily able to go over one hour now and go he does as he lifts weights and trains hard. He shouts and pumps the air once the hour time limit passes and he is still able to lift the weights with ease. As this is going on we see that Rick is being watched just like everyone in Blue Valley it seems. What's odd here however is that a puzzle is being made by whoever this is. It slowly begins to form more and more as the episode goes on but it's really hard to make it out. Just who is watching everyone?? we soon see Yolanda at confession as she talks to her parish priest about forgiveness for what she is about to do. This is ...

Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Stargirl returns from it's week hiatus with an interesting episode to say the least. It begins as we see the after events of The Gambler's death from the perspective of Cindy. We see her standing over the lifeless body of The Gambler before picking up his gun. The gun goes off when she shoots it by accident when her physical pain flares up once again. This is when the JSA arrived on the scene as we saw them catching Cindy almost red-handed with the gun in her hand. It's a bit of an odd start but nevertheless it was interesting to see Cindys side of what happened post Gambler being murdered. At the end of the last episode we saw that Courtney had seen the power of Cameron unleashed and wasn't really fazed by it. Here the two are still hanging out and by the looks of it very much crushing on one another..hard. Cameron walks Courtney h...

I was lucky enough to see Smile a couple of days before official release and boy oh boy what a trip this movie is. Smile is a psychological horror much in the same vain as say something like The Ring or It Follows but Smile is on another level entirely thanks to an incredible performance from lead actress Sosie Bacon who fully commits to the role on all levels. Smile follows a Psychiatry Doctor named Rose Cotter who after witnessing a patient kill herself in front of her begins to experience truly horrible situations that nobody but her can see which leads to everyone thinking she has completely lost her mind.  Smile is a masterfully made horror movie filled to the brim with jumpscares, bait and switch moments and plenty of tension. It has a great pace for the most part as Rose Cotter's seemingly perfect life goes from bad to worse to complete torture. It's obvious from the get go that Smile is a lot more to do with mental illness and it is a great very effective metaphor fo...

Unfortunately sparked by drama behind the scenes Don't Worry Darling has a lot to live up to given all that has happened in post production. Will it succeed? what starts off as a visually pleasing trip back in time it's not long before things take a dark and sinister turn in Don't Worry Darling. Set in the 1950s a couple named Alice and Jack live a seemingly perfect life that any American citizen would love to have. Jack goes off to work every morning like every other man in the community while Alice and all the other wives stay at home and take care of their homes until the husband comes home. Each day is the same thing that is until Alice stumbles across something that she shouldn't have and her world and sense of reality begins to completely crumble. Don't Worry Darling stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as Alice and Jack and performance wise Pugh steals the entire movie here with a stellar performance from beginning to end. Harry Styles on the other hand jus...

Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. This weeks episode of Stargirl begins with Cameron whom we see still practicing his powers. We see a lot of snow globes in a room with one snow globe including what looks to be a small figure of Courtney inside. Once shaken it does the usual snow globe stuff but emits a light. Cameron breaths ice onto the snow globe leading to it completely being frozen over so much that it hurts his hand and it falls to the ground before smashing into tiny pieces. He's still very much learning to balance his powers and it shows. At the end of last weeks episode we saw Starman get attacked by a mysterious figure / creature, the same who killed The Gambler. Well this week we see Courtney in bed asleep. She is awoken by the Cosmic Staff who literally whisks her out of her bed and flies her into the night sky all the way to the scene of the crime where...
