Stargirl 3x4 : Frenemies - Chapter four : The Evidence review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
This weeks episode of Stargirl begins with Cameron whom we see still practicing his powers. We see a lot of snow globes in a room with one snow globe including what looks to be a small figure of Courtney inside. Once shaken it does the usual snow globe stuff but emits a light. Cameron breaths ice onto the snow globe leading to it completely being frozen over so much that it hurts his hand and it falls to the ground before smashing into tiny pieces. He's still very much learning to balance his powers and it shows. At the end of last weeks episode we saw Starman get attacked by a mysterious figure / creature, the same who killed The Gambler. Well this week we see Courtney in bed asleep. She is awoken by the Cosmic Staff who literally whisks her out of her bed and flies her into the night sky all the way to the scene of the crime where Courtney finds Starman.
At hospital and Starman is alive but very much in a bad way showing plenty of bruises and even a similar wound to one that The Gambler had. It's not exactly long before Sylvester wakes up and is greeted by Courtney who tells him that if he needed the staff he should've just taken it with him while he went out looking for more clues. They agree to a re-think of handling the staff but not now, for now Sylvester has got an old friend to meet. It's Dr-Midnite and once he gives his old friend a look over we learn that Sylvester has been imbued with the power of the Cosmic Staff which not only explains him coming back from the death, he also has accelerated healing which explains why he survived the incident and is getting better with each passing moment.
The episode draws to a close as the JSA find a crucial piece of evidence on just what or who is the cause of everything. It's an unidentifiable piece of a skin cell that once looked over by Dr Midnite we learn that the skin cell belongs to none other than the Dragon King himself. Could he survive what happened to him in season 1? anything is possible it seems. We're not done yet however as we're soon back with Cameron who Courtney meets with at school. It is here where he finally lets the secret of him having powers out in front of a classmate. Courtney doesn't seem fazed by this however and later we even see the two share a kiss for the very first time which was a sweet moment. Could this be the beginning of a blossoming relationship?? the episode isn't over yet as we're back with Cindy who looks to be in some real bad physical pain. She rips a piece of her clothing off only to reveal that she has scales growing on her upper arm..is she becoming a new version of the Dragon King?? and did she actually commit the murder of The Gambler? or is this all just another ruse? I'm going for the later as right now all things are pointing to the killer being a ferocious monster and I just don't see Cindy being that at least not now. That was the episode and to be honest I didn't really enjoy this was, it was easily the weakest this season which is unfortunate but you can't have 12 or 13 stellar episodes so average episodes here and there I can deal with. Stargirl goes on a short hiatus now and will return in 2 weeks. Until then Court!
