Moana (2026) review

 

The latest Disney live action remake of a beloved classic animated movie comes in the form of Moana a movie that is barely a decade old. With that in mind is this just a cash grab or does it hold it's own value?? well..it's the former unfortunately as Moana is pretty much just a retelling of the original movie in live action form and it doesn't nearly hold or look as charming as the original did almost a decade ago now. The visuals are so off putting at points it's almost nauseating with uncomfortable views of a blatant backdrop / green screen present especially in the water scenes it's really so off putting and doesn't help in what is otherwise a basic and rather bland live action remake of Moana. 

The Rock is back as demi god Maui sporting a pretty ridiculous wig and much like the lackluster visuals it's just really off putting as it doesn't seem to sit right nor does it really add anything and I know the original character had hair like this but surely there could've been some other workaround. That being said The Rock is sort of charming here but in a very silly way as he plays the character for laughs which is to be expected but he really is nothing but background noise in a movie I'm sure he pushed to be made. It's full of Samoan culture and it shows and in that sense it's beautiful from the costume and set designs to the Samoan traditional dancing but other than that Moana just fails to be anything else which is unfortunate. 


The star of the show however is Moana herself played by Catherine Laga'aia and she is pretty good throughout with the story of her being chose to restore creation and life to her island home and the surrounding area. Her journey is told well for the most part including a lot of songs which feel like were just copy and pasted over from the animated version. In a way the whole movie feels like a copy and paste version of the original just done so in live action and it really doesn't pay off at all. I really think Disney need to lay off the live action remakes and go back to telling original stories be it animation or live action. Moana sinks rather than sails which is unfortunate.

Gotham 5x1 : Year Zero review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Gotham finally returns for it's fifth and sadly last season and with a run of only 12 episodes there is a lot to get through and eventually wrap up. It begins on Day 391 of No Man's Land as the final battle for Gotham comes to a head as Captain Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Riddler and even Penguin all suit up and get loaded for combat as all men led by many more GCPD officers open fire from a top a massive wall as Jim Gordon says ''For Gotham'' this of course is going to be the end of the season but let's go all the way back to day 87 of No Man's Land where we see Gordon talking to someone on a radio. He explains the situation currently going on in Gotham. Superman & Lois 3x13 : What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger review

                Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Season 3 of Superman and Lois has come to and end in the most devastatingly epic way. The finale opens up with Sam Lane telling Lois and Clark that Lex Luthor is nowhere to be found. Clark adds more to this by saying he can't hear him either but Lois is not convinced after all Lex did literally threaten her at the end of last weeks episode. A meteor shower is planned for the evening right at the center of Smallville town so you just know something is going to go down then and as expected something major does go down but more on that a bit later. As the boys leave the house Lois tells Clark that she is ready to be intimate again and the two fly off to a private secluded area where they can be together for the first time since Lois had her breasts removed due to her cancer.
