Evil Dead Burn review

After the big success of 2023's Evil Dead Rise comes a new entry into the long running horror franchise. What do you get when you put an in law meeting at the funeral of your husband who just also just so happens to have not actually passed away but instead is an incarnation of hell itself and wants nothing to do but make the world and those he loves in it burn?? you get this movie and boy oh boy is this movie a trip. Evil Dead movies have always not been for the faint of heart but Burn goes above and beyond in it's attempt at spilling as much blood as possible in a movie that is half part intense and grotesque and the other a really cheesey final act packed with uninspired CGI.

Blood, blood and more blood seemed to be on the agenda for all involved in bringing Evil Dead Burns to life as it sort of shys away from the original concept of the dead rising from the grave thanks to the book of the dead in it's stead is a long standing family drama in the form of a real living nightmare with the in laws. It's chaos incarnate and really goes off the deep end in a lot of scenes but it's sadly let down by a really bad final act that feels so out of place and feels more like the ending to a different movie in a way if that makes sense.

Evil Dead Burn isn't bad by any means but it definitely will not be for everyone especially those who can't stomach blood, guts and gore aplenty. It's not as good as Evil Dead Rises in my opinion and further cements itself as a horror franchise that I feel myself loathing most of the time rather than loving it as I know so many do. Not bad just nothing special and don't forget the sick bucket!
