Supergirl 6x2 : A Few Good Women review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

Following on from last week's season premiere can Supergirl continue it's good form? the episode begins in a Luthor Foundation Blood Bank which is the location of an apparent break-in. Said break-in is done by a Vampire / Alien whose break-in gets interrupted by Team Supergirl. This Vampire is from another planet and is said to have broken into the Phantom Zone. The same place which now houses Supergirl. Named Silas he was forced to leave his husband behind as he lost his sanity due to the Phantoms that reside inside of the Zone. J'onn came to know of Silas thanks to his brother and his time inside the Phantom Zone. They all go back to the Team's HQ as a plan to build a portal to the Zone gets underway. With that plan in motion and one of Dreamer using her powers to locate Supergirl inside of the Phantom Zone what actually lies inside is pure nightmare fuel. Surrounded by almost devilsh like creatures named Phantom's Supergirl is seen cowering in fear and agony as they attempt to get inside her mind and warp it. Someone comes to her aid however and it's someone she believed dead!

Upon awakening Supergirl is confronted by a man in the corner of an almost cave like room with only the dying embers of a fire lit to brighten the place. This man mentions her House Of El sign on her chest and how she is a mirage or a fraud. Supergirl refuses these claims and says that they represent the House Of El. The man actually turns out to be her father. Thought dead after the destruction of Krypton he survived and got inside of the Phantom Zone. Since they he has survived but doesn't strife far from his living quarters because of the Phantom's which caused him a great deal of pain and sorrow. Supergirl ventures out later in the episode on her own and again gets saved by her father who tells her that they must stay inside forever, never to go outside. Supergirl of course objects to this stating that even if she gets an inch closer each day she will never stop attempting to escape from the Phantom Zone. Her father ultimately agrees to aid her in this quest and we see something more between them at the end of the episode.

The episode draws to a close as the trial of Lex Luthor gets underway. With mounting charges brought against him Lex is told to accept a plea offer which would see him get 25 years in Prison. Lex however as a plan but refuses to tell anyone what exactly it is. As the trial begins and witnesses begin to testify we first get Eve Tessmacher who points the finger of blame squarely on Lex. The genius Luthor completely flips the tables on pretty much everyone from Eve, to the judge to even the jury. It's genuinely brilliant stuff as Jon Cryer once again makes playing Lex Luthor look effortless. Even Lena Luthor testifying against her brother doesn't do much in the grand scheme of things as it's clear to see that Luthor is about to walk free and he does exactly that as he is acquitted of all crimes by the jury in a revelation that stuns everyone. Of course this isn't the end as not only does Lena say that she will stop at nothing to stop Lex but Andrea now too who has completely shifted focus onto Cat Co Worldwide Media after Obsidian North's collapse thanks to Lex. The episode ends with two points. Firstly we see Lex and his mom playing chess and celebrating their victory while back inside of the Phantom Zone we see Phantom's enter a portal into the real world thanks to Silas as after a fight earlier in the episode a Phantom appeared to get inside of him. Supergirl and her father see the Phantom's enter a portal which means that it's Phantom catching time. There was a lot more going on here also like J'onn' and Dreamer's abilities being truly tested but overall this was another solid episode of Supergirl. It was on par with last week for sure and once again just shows that when you have a really good villain (Jon Cryer's Lex Luthor) then it makes all the difference in the world to a show. Long may it continue.
