Practical Magic 2 review

 

Bubble, toil and trouble make a sequel and make it double (sorry) I just recently only saw the original Practical Magic and really had a great time with it. It was charming, full of magic and felt almost like a warm winter blanket on a chilly Autumn day. Now decades later and the Owens sisters have returned for another outing of magic, family and curses. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as said Owens sisters but now they're not alone as Sally (Bullock) now a widow has two grown up daughters whom she has been hiding the truth about her family from. What follows is lies, love and a trip to the UK. 

The first 30 minutes or so of this sequel has zero going for it at least for me it's not until the big secret of the Owens family curse gets blown is when the movie really kicks into gear following a bunch of cheesey one liners and attempts at covering up a pretty well known secret. After Sally's daughter experiences a tragic event she heads to the UK by herself leading to her mom and aunt following her all culminating in a magic battle that seriously feels out of place especially after seeing the original. Black smoke like spells and plums of golden magic fill the screen in a witch like battle that doesn't feel at all warranted nor resemble real practical magic that the original had in spades. 


With all that being said however the second and final acts of this movie are really solid minus some more bad one liners. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman play off one another really well for the most part while Maisie Williams and Joey King feel sort of underutilized a bit especially Williams. By the time the credits begin to roll Practical Magic 2 earns it's right as a sequel to a classic 90's movie. It's entertaining, emotional at points and overall a solid time to be had. Now put the lime in the coconut and drink'em both up!

Gotham 5x1 : Year Zero review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Gotham finally returns for it's fifth and sadly last season and with a run of only 12 episodes there is a lot to get through and eventually wrap up. It begins on Day 391 of No Man's Land as the final battle for Gotham comes to a head as Captain Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Riddler and even Penguin all suit up and get loaded for combat as all men led by many more GCPD officers open fire from a top a massive wall as Jim Gordon says ''For Gotham'' this of course is going to be the end of the season but let's go all the way back to day 87 of No Man's Land where we see Gordon talking to someone on a radio. He explains the situation currently going on in Gotham. Superman & Lois 3x13 : What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger review

                Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Season 3 of Superman and Lois has come to and end in the most devastatingly epic way. The finale opens up with Sam Lane telling Lois and Clark that Lex Luthor is nowhere to be found. Clark adds more to this by saying he can't hear him either but Lois is not convinced after all Lex did literally threaten her at the end of last weeks episode. A meteor shower is planned for the evening right at the center of Smallville town so you just know something is going to go down then and as expected something major does go down but more on that a bit later. As the boys leave the house Lois tells Clark that she is ready to be intimate again and the two fly off to a private secluded area where they can be together for the first time since Lois had her breasts removed due to her cancer.
