The End of Oak Street review

 

Cosmic events, dinasours and a transported street The End of Oak Street is a fascining movie it truly is. It starts off all swell just like another other regular day in an American suburban neighbor hood. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor play a mother and father to two children. Known as The Platt family they seem like your run of the mill family so when their entire lives are turned upside down they are transported back in time back to the age of the Dinasour how will they manage to handle it?? it's a fight for survival both inside their home and outside as tension is propelled to the max.

I really did want to like this movie and while I did at points something just feels off especially why the family get transported back in time it comes out of nowhere and really isn't solved all that well all culminating in a sort of full circle moment, in between there are big and bold action setpieces as the family and any and all survivors instead of banding together to survive all seem to be isolated from one another instead The Platt family become the only ones who try to find a way home. 

The End of Oak Street has an intriguing plot it really does. The setups are there but the payoffs not so much all culminating in a movie that feels half baked, somewhat underwhelming and held together by a barren time travel aspect. It's certainly no Jurassic Park that's for sure but that being said it's an enjoyable popcorn movie that isn't totally horrible as the performances are solid with Anne Hathaway leading charge. A big swing sure but this movie doesn't quite hit a home run.
