Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma review
Teenage, Sex and Death at Camp Miasma wow what a title and really what a movie truth be told. I absolutely adore the horror sub genre of Slasher movies. It's easily one of my favorite forms of movies and this movie properly solidifies that in what is one of the most original, insane and downright bonkers movie I've seen this year. The story follows a young queer Director who gets tasked with making a reboor / remake of a long running slasher series called you guessed it..Camp Miasma. This director literally becomes obsessed with the notion of making the movie and once she meets the original 'final girl' from the first movie she falls into both sexual and psychological chaos. Starring Hannah Einbinder as the director and Gillan Anderson as the final girl Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma literally flips the genre upside down delivering one bloody and visceral ride.
Friday the 13th inspirations are aplenty throughout here from it's sleepaway camp like setting to it's main killer who lurks at the bottom of a lake it's all really nothing new really but it's changed and tweaked to such extreme levels I just couldn't help but love it from beginning to end as blood fills the screen time after time and boy is this movie bloody featuring one of the most insane sequences I've seen in quite some time. And that's not even mentioning Gillan Anderson who gives an oustanding performance as the original movie's final girl it's very erotic, very eccentric and totally rad.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a lot of things. It's a tribute to the genre, it's also full of meta humour and jokes and for the most part really sticks in the landing on all of them. It's killer named Little Death is just perfectly over the top enough and the many, many deaths are equal parts absurd and yet so cheesy you just can't look away. Destined to be one of 2026's most hidden gems Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a must see for any horror fans!
