Batman - Frozen Blood : Vengeance timeline
Opening narration :
December 22nd
Christmas in Gotham was like a winter wonderland, the snow was falling at heavy amounts decorating the city in white, 3 months have passed since Vengeance seemingly disappeared and Bruce Wayne has been doing his upmost to restore Gotham's faith in not just Batman but the Wayne name and legacy, Robin is now Nightwing and is keeping Bludhaven safe with the help of his Titan friends which leaves Bruce, Barbara Gordon and Alfred now the sole protectors of Gotham City...but there's a freezing air flowing and something is brewing that is sure to chill Gotham to it's very core.
Alfred Pennyworth
“Tea sir?? Ms Gordon??”
Alfred along with Bruce and Barbara are in the bat-cave Alfred pouring out two cups of tea for them both as they've just arrived back from a night out on patrol
Barbara Gordon
“You know I'm grateful for this new suit and all but it's so not my style, it's really dull and lacking so much color, would it be okay if I maybe added some things to it and make it truly my own?”
Bruce Wayne
“Yes Alfred I will have tea and do what you want Barbara as long as you don't damage the suit that would hurt Lucius's feelings”
Barbara smirks at Bruce's response and accepts the cup of tea from Alfred as Bruce sits down at the bat-computer
Alfred Pennyworth
“And how was tonight sir?? any significant developments??”
Bruce Wayne
“No and that's what worries me, seeing the city this calm and quiet it never does sit well with me”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Well it is Christmas time sir”
Barbara nods in agreement with Alfred
Barbara Gordon
“Alfred is right Bruce it's a time of giving and receiving a time of love and family”
Alfred Pennyworth
''Speaking of love how is it going with Master Grayson I assume you two will be spending the holidays together??''
Barbara begins to blush ever so slighly
Barbara Gordon
“Absolutely we are right now Richard is in Bludhaven and I'm here, my dad is here so we'll have to wait and see how we will spend the day together exactly but things have been going great between us”
Bruce Wayne smiles ever so softly at Barbara's reponse

“Glad to hear it Ms Gordon, Master Grayson is one of a kind”
Bruce Wayne
“I think that's it for the night, you can go home Barbara we'll talk tomorrow”
Barbara stands up to respond to Bruce

“Oh well okay then I'll go upstairs get changed then go home”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Goodnight Ms Gordon”
Barbara waves goodbye to Alfred and Bruce as she enters the elevator leading up into the foyer much like her very first visit to the bat-cave when Alfred led her upstairs so that she could spend the night after being saved by Robin, a lot has changed since then and a lot more was about to change not just for Barbara but for everybody

“So how was Ms Gordon out in the field tonight?? any improvement?!”
Bruce Wayne
“Well technincally she is amazing very agile and quick on her feet, she is incredibly smart but her physical training is sorely lacking, I know she's only been training a couple months but I may need to ramp up the training”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Ah I see, perhaps tomorrow we could set up another session here in the cave?? I could possibly help too after all I taught you all you know didn't I sir??”
Bruce chuckles

“That you did Alfred..that you did”
Bruce and Alfred leave the bat-cave via the elevator and both head to their seperate living quarters each telling the other goodnight, across Gotham at an undisclosed location a chamber can be seen but it is empty where Freezes wife Nora should be, with Nora elsewhere Freezes plan is about to be put in motion

“I will not let them stop my research, I must not let them..I'm so close to a breakthrough..I love you..my Nora!”
Victor Fries is the person standing in front of the chamber as night soon turns into morning in Gotham we once more see Bruce Wayne and Alfed together this time about to have breakfast when Barbara Gordon arrived sitting at the table directly across from Bruce

“Ah Ms Gordon I didn't know you'd be joining us for breakfast”
Barbara Gordon
“Yeah sorry Alfred I should have called ahead but I thought being here early we could maybe get some training in today before I go to class if that's okay?? Bruce??”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Thats more than okay Ms Gordon it just so happens that I set up everything down in the cave before I made breakfast I also took the liberty of adding extra simluations today”
Barbara Gordon
“Wow you're always so efficent Alfred, Bruce is so lucky to have you”
Alfred Pennyworth
“make him aware of it almost daily Ms Gordon”
Bruce is reading the latest edition of the Gotham Gazette and notices a news article about Thomas Elliot who after 3 months in hospital to treat his burns is only now being released after a rather lengthy and painful amount of surgeries''
Bruce Wayne
“Tommy Elliot is being released from hospital today I wonder how he's doing?? I haven't been to see him in a few weeks, to be honest seeing his entire face covered in those bandages really hit home just how much damage Vengeance has done, do you think I should maybe visit him at home??”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Well that is up to you sir but perhaps maybe wait a while to let him settle back into his daily life and routine? I'm sure Mr Elliot is still in quite a bit of pain, not to mention his involvement with Vengeance and a certain plot to overthrow you and the entire Wayne name and legacy..best to leave it for now sir”
Bruce nods and drinks the remaining bit of his coffee before standing up from the table

“Okay… so let's begin today's training then shall we??”
Alfred, Barbara and Bruce head down to the bat-cave and begin the training process, Bruce starts it all off by turning on the bat-computer as today it was Alred who was going to be Barbara's sparring partner

“Okay Ms Gordon think of me as your enemy, don't hold back give me everything you've got”
Barbara nods as she puts on her training gear as Alfrd prepares by putting on his gloves leading to the first hit by Barbara then another, then another they are stopped almost instantly by the sound of an alert coming from the bat-computer, Barbara audibily groans as her training is stopped before it can even begin, Bruce stands up from the computer's seat and tells Alfred and Barbara what the alert was for

“Break in at the Gotham National History Museum reports says the outside of the Museum has been covered in ice with the inside pretty much covered in the substance aswell..it's got to be Mr Freeze”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Victor Fries sir?? why the last time we saw him you had both agreed to a truce and he was close to getting his much sought after cure for his dear wife Nora what is he doing on the wrong path again??”
Bruce Wayne
“I don't know but it doesn't look or sound good, Barbara get your gear ready and suit up it's time for you to meet the Iceman”
Barbara begins to prepare and suit up and talks while Bruce does the same
Barbara Gordon
“You know perhaps something has tipped Mr Freeze over the edge?? you said you had agreed to a truce before right?? well maybe something has happened between then and now?? something to do with Nora maybe??”
Batman
“Well whatever is we have to stop him from doing anything drastic, deep down Victor is a good man but sometimes his love for his wife just overclouds everything he does.. ready to go??”
Barbara Gordon
“I’m ready but just one thing I need to ask, what about codenames for when we're out in the field?? like I know I can call you Batman but what about me?? nobody needs to find out that daughter of Commissioner Gordon is Batman's new protegee right?? and to be honest it's something me and Dick have been working on, I came up with his new codename of Nightwing and he came up with something for me”

“Fine tben Batgirl…”
Batgirl smiled nodded and left the cave with Batman, with a newfound sense of understanding between one another Batman and Batgirl set off in the bat-mobile which usually was just for Batman but given how Barbara has no vehicle and it was a two person trip to the Natural History Museum they had to do with that they had, as they arrive they see it covered in ice on the outside with the doors being partially frozen shut, Batman gets out of the bat-mobile and takes out one of his gadgets which he uses to melt the ice around the doorway so that he and Barbara could get inside, once inside they're both shocked to see the entire building almost blue in color and crystalized from all the ice

“No sign of Freeze yet keep your focus he could be anywhere and he is extremely dangerous, that freeze gun of his damaged my suit on a previous encounter”
Barbara remains focused on the task at hand as both her and Batman are now inside the Museum, they're almost instantly stopped in their tracks by the screams of a security guard who runs right past them heading directly out of the building screaming for his life
GCPD Cop
''He's inside you've got to stop him, he's turning this entire Museum into his own ice skating ring”
Batman and Barbara rush inside only to be met with the imposing figure of Mr Freeze who is walking down the front stairs of the Museum
Batman
“Freeze , it's over give up now or there will be trouble and nobody, not even you want that”
Mr Freeze
“Ah Batman I was wondering when you were going to arrive to try and stop me, well I'm afraid I just can't give up, not now..not when her life is danger”
Batman
''Her life?? are you talking about Nora?? if she or you both are in trouble I'm sure I can help you infact I know I can help you, this isn’t the way to do things”
Mr Freeze
“Don’t you DARE say her name Batman, I will submerge this entire city under a blanket of ice and snow if anything happens to her, now get out of my way I have something of value to collect in this Museum”
Batman
“I’m afraid we can't let you do that”
Batman motions to Barbara to move to the other side of him forming a barrier around Freeze so he is unable to escape
Mr Freeze
“So that's how it is going to be then is it?? Batman and his new little sidekick?? very well don't say I didn't warn you”
Batman
“Move!”
Batman and Barbara attempt to rush Mr Freeze but both are swatted away by him with ease, the loud almost like thunder clapping of his footsteps echoed throughout the Museum as he advanced forward attempting to achieve his goal, Barbara attempts to get behind him while Batman once more rushes his front but both are stopped Batman by yet another physical swipe and Barbara by jet coolers attached to Freeze's armor at the back
Mr Freeze
“You can't stop me, I've upgraded, adapated and evolved to a point where even the Batman can't stop me..now get ouf of my way or you will be frozen and chilled to the bone”
Mr Freeze powers up his cryogenic freeze gun and shoots it directly at Batman but it doesn't hit him instead hitting Barbara who had jumped in front of the ice blast it knocking her to the ground where her body lay motionless, Batman takes a second to notice what has happened before rushing to her side
Batman
“BATGIRL?? wake up?? Batgirl??”
Batman looks up at Mr Freeze with a rage burning deep inside of him, he runs towards him but before he gets to him Mr Freeze yells out in pain, Batman notices an arrow sticking into his armor plating, not knowing what just happened Batman looks up and sees a black hooded figure fleeing from the scene, he is left in a big dilemma does he chase after the attacker, help Mr Freeze or get Barbara back to the bat-cave so he and Alfred can help her, Batman decides to help Barbara who appeared to be in the most danger, he picks her up and carries her to the bat-mobile where once inside he rings Alfred for assistance

“Ah Master Bruce how did it go with Mr Freeze??”
Batman
“Not well Alfred, not well at all not only is Freeze seemingly hellbent on covering this city in ice if Nora is harmed but Barbara has been hit with his freeze gun she's breathing but she looks so cold, I have her in the bat-mobile and I'm heading to you now but before I get going can you put in an anonymous call to the GCPD about what happened at the National History Museum?? Freeze is still there and I think we may have some sort of assasin in Gotham and that's the last thing I need right now, I'll tell you more about that later but for now can you do that?? I will be back at the cave shortly”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Of course sir consider it done, but do be quick remember when you were hit with that freeze gun?? it's effects are not pleasant we need to get Ms Gordon into a secure warm enviorment as soon as possible, I will await your return”
Batman turns on the bat-movile afterburner and races back to the bat-cave where Alfred is waiting for him, as he arrives back in the cave he takes Barbara out of the bat-mobile and places her on a chair that is covered in various blankets with a steaming pot of tea placed on a table beside her
Batman takes off his cowl and tosses it on the chair by the bat-computer as he tends to Barbara along with Alfred, they attend to her for the rest of the night as she regains a stable body temperature and soon after wakes up not knowing where she is or what exactly happened

“Ugh..where am I?? what happened??”
Bruce Wayne
“Careful Barbara your body has not fully stabalized yet, just take it easy rest up and I will let you know what is happening once I check something on the bat-computer, for now get some sleep you're warm and you're safe”
Barbara still in a lot of discomfort nods and lays back on the chair Alfred had set up for her by the bat-computer as Bruce walks to the computer and sits down immediately checking what is happening in the city

“I have never seen Mr Freeze attack someone like this sir his end goal must be something to do with Nora it's the only thing that would explain this outburst”

“To be honest Victor did feel rather desperate like he was being forced into doing something he didn't want to do, do you think there is more at play here??”
Alfred Pennyworth
“It is Gotham sir isn't that always the way??”
Bruce nods

''I'll have to look deeper into this whole situation not to mention the hooded figure I saw fleeing from the Museum rooftop where they took a shot at Freeze, he looked pretty damaged maybe I should go see him at the GCPD Lockup tomorrow??”
Alfred Pennyworth
“And just how will the Batman get into the GCPD Lockup sir??”
Bruce looks over at Barbara who was fast asleep

“I’ll have Barbara attempt to convince Gordon to let me inside, it's the only way forward, I have to find out what or who has made Victor so desperate in his attempt to save Nora”

''Whatever you think is best sir, for now I shall make a bed for Ms Gordon so she can get a proper nights sleep”

“Thanks Alfred”
Alfred left the bat-cave via the elevator leaving Bruce to ponder the situation, from a masked assainlint in the wind to Mr Freeze to whatever has gotten him so spooked it's all a mystery that needs solving and quickly, night quickly became morning and Bruce who had gotten little sleep was up bright and early in the main foyer of Wayne Manor when Barbara Gordon came out of the spare bedroom
December 23rd

“Ah Ms Gordon, good morning I trust you slept well and are feeling somewhat better??”
Barbra yawned and nodded as she poured out herself a cup of coffee sipping on it tentatively she began to question Bruce about what exactly happened yesterday

“feeling much better Alfred thank you for setting up the spare room for me it was very kind of you, as for what happened yesterday thank you Bruce for getting me out of there quickly that could’ve been a whole lot worse, I feel fine but when I breathe in deeply it feels like my ribs are about to crack”

“Best to just rest and take it easy today Ms Gordon perhaps don't go to class and go home instead or even stay here if you don't want to face Mr Gordon??”
Bruce Wayne
“It was nothing Barbara..but just answer me this what were you thinking jumping in front of that Freeze gun blast?? that was totally reckless you could've gotten seriously injured..or worse”
Barbara Gordon
“I wasn't thinking..act first think later, I know it sounds stupid but I was just trying to protect you, the situation was quickly getting out of control wasn't it?? any information on what Freeze wanted in the Museum?? did he get away?? wow I totally forgot to even ask that first sorry Bruce”

“Calm down Barbara there'll be more than enough time to answer all of your questions in a bit but to answer your main question no Victor did not get away, I had Alfred call in a anonymous tip off to the GCPD, Freeze was attacked by someone I didn't see who but it's what stopped him directly in his tracks he is at the GCPD lockup right now”

“Did my dad take him in??”
Bruce Wayne
“Yes he did, speaking of your dad do you think you could convince him to let the Batman inside the lockup to see Mr Freeze so I can speak to him face to face and try to find out what is exactly happening??”
Barbara stopped drinking her coffee and gave a surprised look at Bruce's request

“Well I mean I could try, I'm supposed to have dinner with him and Leslie later today so I'll try then, I'll let you know as soon as possible”
Bruce nods at Barbara approving of her response

“So what happens now??”

“Now it's time for you to go to class if you’re feeling up to it”
Barbara immediately jumps at Bruce's words

“Oh my god I totally forgot, I'm not going to make it on time..public transport in Gotham is so unreliable I'm probably gonna be late”
Alfred repsonds to Barbara's panic induced state

“Not to worry Ms Gordon I can drive you to your class, I have some errands to run today and it'll give Master Bruce some time to himself”
Barbara runs towards Alfred and hugs him rather tightly

“Oh thank you Alfred, this is a new class semester so arriving late wouldn't exactly be a good look, just let me go upstairs to get what I need, meet you by your car??”
Alfred nods as Barbara runs to the elevator, stepping on it brings her up to the foyer of Wayne Manor she grabs her phone, her bag and walks briskly to the outside of the Manor where Alfred was already waiting for her with the car door open so she can enter first which she does, Alfred closes the door and walks to the drivers seat before eventually taking off, back down in the bat-cave Bruce was seen looking at some old Mr Freeze files on the bat-computer

“Just what has caused you to act so rashly Victor??'' if Nora is in trouble or if your research is being compromised you should've came to me first”
Bruce closed the computer and went to his crime board looking over various old sketches, old newspaper clippings and interviews about Mr Freeze, in the meantime Alfred and Barbara pulled up outisde of her school where she thanked Alfred got out and walked inside, Alfred went to do some errands as the day turned into evening with Barbara now on her way home after a hard day's work of classes and interacting with her classmates where she basically became sort of a teacher's pet as her attempts to answer every question proposed didn't sit well with others but that didn't matter Barbara knew her worth and how smart she was for her it was all about helping Bruce going forward, Barbara is seen entering her home where Jim Gordon and Leslie Thompkins were seen sitting on the couch

“Barbara just where were you?? you never came home last night, I've been worried sick, no phone call or text where were you??”
Barbara Gordon's mind instantly began racing aiming to respond to her dad while avoiding any way she could arouse suspicion about where she really was

“I’m so sorry dad I was at a friend's house, we totally lost track of time and my phone died so I just crashed on her couch”
Jim and Leslie both look at Barbara with a shared look of concern

“What friend Barbara?? and couldn't you have used her phone to contact me?? y'know I was on duty last night had to go to the Museum to apprehend someone after Batman had dealth with them but afterwards I spent the better part of the night searching for you”
Barbara rushes over to Gordon and hugs him tightly refusing to let go

“I’m so sorry dad, I never meant to make you feel that way, I was with a classmate her name is Dinah Lance she just moved her from Star City her dad is also a cop she's really cool we're going to hang out again tomorrow”

“Okay kiddo just make sure this never happens again, and I'm glad you're making friends already”
Barbara Gordon
“Thanks dad and you too Leslie you make dad happy I can see it in his eyes it's honestly amazing to see given how hard he has had it recently given what happened over the past few months”
Leslie smiled at Barbara very appreciative of her kind words

“Well thank you Barbara, so Jim will you be leaving for work soon?? we could maybe catch a taxi together?? I'm due back at the hospital soon”
Jim Gordon nods at Leslie as she goes to the bathroom to freshen up this leaves Barbara alone with her dad and she without hesitation begins to probe him for information about Mr Freeze after all it was Gordon who brought him into the GCPD the night previous

“So dad did anything interesting happen last night?? I know this week has been your first week back at work I hope things weren't too chaotic and out of control??”
Jim Gordon
“Well actually I did get an anonymous call last night about a crime at the Gotham History Museum, low and behold I get there with Harvey Bullock and Renee Montoya only to see Mr Freeze at the entrance way with an arrow stemming out of his armour”
Barbara pretends to be shocked as if hearing this for the first time
Barbara Gordon
“Mr Freeze?? what happened was Batman there??”
Jim Gordon
“Now Barbara shouldn't you be focused more on school and this new friend of yours rather then the ongoings of criminals in Gotham??”
Barbara Gordon
“Of course but your job has always fascinated me dad you know that”
Jim chuckles and pats Barbara on the shoulder
Jim Gordon
“Okay then, well Batman wasn't there but I have a feeling he was before we arrived but the arrow sticking out of Freeze's armor doesn't quite explain what happened, Batman isn't one for archery after all unless he's gotten a new sidekick perhaps??”
Barbara Gordon gulped when her dad mentioned Batman having a new sidekick

“So what happened next?? did you take Mr Freeze back to the GCPD”
Jim nods and pours himself a cup of coffee to go as Leslie reemerged from the bathroom all set to leave

“I will wait for you outside Jim I need to make a call before we leave, I'll be in the taxi”
Jim nods as Leslie exists the Gordon household

“I’ll fill you in on all the details tonight if you’re really interested, for now I really got to get going , what're your plans for today??”
Barbara Gordon
“Well planned on hitting the books later but may also might meet up with Dinah again”
Jim Gordon
“Okay well have fun and don't be out too late with this Mr Freeze situation going on it's not safe”
Barbara had to find a way to get her dad to come around to the idea of letting Batman talk to Mr Freeze at the GCPD lockup but just how would she do it??

“Dad before you go..”
Jim Gordon stops just before he was about to leave the house

“What is it Barbara??”
Barbara Gordon
“I have an idea now don't take it the wrong way or anything but what if Batman were to talk to Mr Freeze at the GCPD Lockup?? I mean that is where he is being held right?? perhaps Batman could get some sort of informtion out of him”
Jim looks at Barbara before putting on a pair of sunglasses
Jim Gordon
“You may be onto something there, well first things first I got to get to the GCPD then we shall see what our next course of planning will be, I got to get going Barbara, Leslie is waiting for me, have a good rest of your day see you tonight”
Jim leaves his home leaving Barbara all alone inside who immediately whips out her phone to message Bruce about what she just said to her dad, once the messages goes through to Bruce we see him and Alfred still at the bat-cave pondering the whole situation

“Perhaps it's best to just leave this topic for now and begin preparation for tonight's patrol??”
Just as Alfred finishes talking Bruce's phone goes off it's a message from Barbara it reads :
“Told my dad to ask Batman for help with Mr Freeze, he didn't outright answer but I know he's considering it be prepared for a bat signal call, I am going to do some more research of my own I'll report back to you tomorrow at some point”

“It’s from Barbara she says Gordon might be about to use the bat-signal soon”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Ah looks like Ms Gordon has come up trumps will I ready the car sir??”
Bruce nods at Alfred as another night of being Batman was looming, he picked up his cup of coffee finished it and walked towards the display case for his batsuit, Bruce's reflection hitting against the glass revealing the scarred face of a battle hardened vigilante, he opened the display and carefully put on the bat-suit all as Alfed readied the bat-mobile, once the bat-suit was fully on Batman walks to the bat-mobile like a general walks on the battlefield, he gets inside and departs at a high speed, once outside the glare of the bat-signal in the Gotham night skyline immediatley catches his eye, he uses the intercom to contact Alfred

“It looks like Batgirl was right Gordon has the bat-signal lighting up the nightsky”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Very good sir, perhaps don't push too hard on Mister Gordon however, after all he is still very much recovering from the whole ordeal with Vengeance”

“Noted”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Is that a bit of sarcasm I detect sir?”
Batman
“Yes”
Batman drove the bat-mobile to a secluded location just below the GCPD where once getting out he used his grapple to pull himself up to where Gordon was waiting for him in a spot that had become all too familiar for them both, Batman ascends the building and lands behind Gordon with his boots making a loud thud noise as Gordon turns around to face him

“I’m guessing it was you who left Freeze for us to find at the Museum??”
Batman nods and walks across the rooftop Gordon following him as the two look out at Gotham City which was all lit up for Christmas it beaming brightly like a giant Chistmas tree

“What’s the situation Commissioner??”
Jim Gordon
“Well after we brought Freeze in late last night not only has he refused to talk to anyone of my officers or even me but we found arrows embedded in his armor and I know archery isn't your M.O so any ideas on what that is about?? as for Freeze he specifcally asked to see The Batman says he will only tell you what is happening, so with that being said I've already given you the all clear to go inside GCPD lockup to speak with him, I trust you'll know what to do but remember get as much information out of him as possible”

“When I was leaving the Museum I spotted a hooded figure retreating through the skyline after firing that arrow you found in Freeze's armor, didn't recognise who it was or what they could be up to but I will find out Jim”

“I know you will Batman”
Batman
“How is Barbara doing?? I know all of the goings on must've been hard on her too”
Jim Gordon
“Batman talking family matters?? never thought I'd see or hear this day, but yes Barbra has been through the wringer no doubt about that, but she's tough like her old man, she's even made a new friend Dinah”
Jim turns around and sees nobody standing behind him, he turns to the front of the building and sees Batman speeding off in his bat-mobile heading directly for the GCPD lockup where Freeze was being held in a cryogenic chamber

“I guess I should be used to that by now..good luck Batman”
Gordon shuts off the bat-signal and heads back to the GCPD where a full night of work awaited him, as for Batman he was in the bat-mobile and was now speeding towards the GCPD lockup which was a seperate building from the GCPD building itself, the bat-mobile comes to a complete stop outside of the GCPD lockup as Batman gets out about to head inside he notices two security guards by the main entrance doorway

“Ah you’re here, the Commissioner said you'd be arriving, Mr Freeze is inside he is in the last door on the right”
Batman doesn't respond he just nods and walks towards the end of the Lockup where an isolated cryogenic chamber was housing Mr Freeze, as he walks the long hall of lockup cells various villains and criminals who are inside all begin to taunt Batman as he walks past not giving them any attention his eyes locked on Freeze's chamber

Batman continues his walk down the hallway before arriving at the cryogenic chamber, he taps on it and the shutter on the door is slid open by Victor Fries who immediately greets Batman in a way old friends would greet one another

Batman looks at Mr Freeze through the cryogenic chamber he was inside of and notices just how calm he is, just last night he was in a much more frenzied manner he was wildly out of character and control

“What are you talking about?? who is going to suffer?? what about the promise you made me Victor?? I thought you were an honorable man who would never go back on his word”

“Silence Batman , it's already too late Gotham will be submerged in ice and the very veins of this city will run cold with my fury and wrath for what they've done to my beloved Nora”
Batman begins to knock on the door of the cryogenic chamber shouting at Fries for an answer to his question

One of the GCPD officers from earlier hears a commotion from inside the Lockup and runs inside where he sees Batman banging on the chamber door as Victor Fries remains both motion and emotionless inside just staring at Batman with an almost blank stare

“Hey, hey what's going on here Batman??”
The officer touches the shoulder of Batman but is pushed aside when Batman directly brushes him out of the way as he heads directly for the bat-mobile, once inside he calls Alfred anger building up inside of him with each passing second

“Ah Master Bruce how did it go with Mr Freeze did you find out anything that'll help in stopping him on this seemingly deadly path of vengeance??”
Batman snaps out of his anger fuled moment the second Alfred mentions Vengeance

Batman cuts off Alfred and gets out of the bat-mobile once again, he begins to walk towards the entrance of the Lockup when a giant freeze like explosion goes off leaving an exposed hole in the building, as the smoke and ice clears Mr Freeze stands once again in his full armored suit, as the ice and dust from the explosion clears Batman sees the two GCPD officers behind Freeze completely frozen solid, Mr Freeze walks out of the now exposed GCPD lockup building his armor making a clanging sound which each meancing footstep

“I told you there is nothing you can do Batman, I will make them pay and then the city will be turned into an icy graveyard”

“Freeze stop, I think I know who you're talking about now and it's okay I can help you just please don't do anything drastic, let's go somewhere and discuss this”
Mr Freeze shakes his head and props up his freeze gun in his hand, he points it at Batman and just is about to fire when an arrow knocks it out of his hand hurling it onto the ground, Freeze lets out a grunt, picks it up and with the help of his new ice jetpack flies away into the Gotham nightsky, Batman looks around in a 360 style viewpoint attempting to locate just where the arrow shot camefrom

“I know someone is there now come out and face me”
Just as Batman says that a mysterious figure steps out from the shadows clothed in all black complete with a black hood and bow / arrow combination, Batman stands still unsure how to react, could this be the same person he saw fleeing the museum the night previous?? and just what is the end goal??

“Who are you??”

“I had the situation under control”

“Really?? because from where I was standing it looked like you were about to be turned into a frozen Batman treat”

“I don't have time for this, Mr Freeze is intent on covering the city in ice and on top of that he now has a jetpack, there's no time for cheap tricks and silly introductions”

“Good thing I helped you then, once I hit Freeze's gun with my arrow it placed a micro tracker on it so we'll know wherever he is going at all times, no applause needed”
Batman doesn't respond to this so called Dark Hero instead he walks right past him directly heading back into the GCPD Lockup which thankfully wasn't damaged to the point where other prisoners and villains could escape, as he approaches the two frozen GCPD officers he notices a doorway behind them that was slightly opened, Batman walks inside and finds the prisoner outfit Freeze had on previously, could one or both of these GCPD officers have helped Freeze escape? or even worse were they the ones who smuggled in his gear only to meet their icy doom? that remained to be seen as the night's mystery only began to widen and widen, Batman comes out of the room and sees The Dark Hero standing by the frozen officers

“What’re you doing??, I told you I have this situation under control, the GCPD will be here shortly, I think it'd be for the best if you leave, I work better alone”

“But you don't work alone do you?? I've been watching you Batman, studying you, trying to be the very best version of myself so I can help people, and besides withouts my help you'll never know where Mr Freeze is heading right now would you??”
Batman lets out a disgruntled sigh, just what was this person's endgoal?? why help Batman?? and why do they seem to be obsessed with everything vigilante related??''

The Dark Hero's head drops and his eagerness wavers as he slowly transfers his data to Batman's gauntlets as the sirens of GCPD vehicles draws near

“You'd best get out of here, I will explain everything to the Comissioner and I will stop Freeze”
The Dark Hero disappears in a puff of smoke via a smoke pellet again mirror Batman in a sense, but Batman's mind was on other things for now The Dark Hero would have to wait as GCPD vehicles closed in on Batman and out gets Jim Gordon and Renee Montoya the two rushing to speak with Batman

“What the hell happened here?? not 20 minutes ago everything was calm now there's a hole in the GCPD Lockup and Mr Freeze is in the wind??”

“There were..complications, it looks like Freeze may have had the help from 2 GCPD officers, not to mention he now has a jetpack”

“Oh great, not only do we have two frozen officers but now Freeze could be anywhere doing literally anything to anyone, do I need to call this in and make the city a no safe zone??”
Renee Montoya walks up to the two frozen officers and begins to investigate the crime scene which was quickly being surrounded by GCPD officers and forensic investigators

“Don't worry Commissioner, I have had some help, I know where Freeze is going and I'm going to go stop him before he hurts anyone else”
Gordon looks at the frozen officers before turning back to Batman

Batman shakes his head denying Gordon an answer

“Can’t say but trust me on this, I will be in contact again soon”
Gordon nods agreeing with Batman's wishes, Gordon walks over to Renee Montoya to assess the situation as Batman makes his way back to the bat-mobile, he gets inside and immediately calls Alfred

“No Alfred, Freeze got away, he now has a jetpack and I had an run in with a new vigilante calling himself The Dark Hero”

“Not only that Alfred but I think Vengeance is somehow involved with all of this, Mr Freeze said something about making them pay, could he be talking about the Court of Owls and Vengeance?? maybe Victor struck a deal with them to help him fund his research on Nora's condition??”

“That's certainly an interesting theory but perhaps a bit desperate on Mr Freeze's part??”

“Exactly! Freeze does sound desperate, he played it off as being calm and collected but I know Victor something is up and I'm going to find out what it is and put an end to this”

“Very well sir, shall I prepare anything back at the cave??”

“Have the bat-computer up and running I think it's time I sit down to try and piece all the evidence I have gathered”

“I’ll get in contact with Barbara once we're done here, I'll tell her to sit tight for the rest of the day and come to the bat-cave tomorrow, see you soon Alfred”

Batman hangs up and immediately dials Barbara awaiting her answer he adjusts himself in the batmobile

“Yeah you're dad is fine Barbara, I'm okay also but things didn't exactly go as planned, Freeze got away but I did manage to get a tracker on his location so I'll know where he is going”

“No you go out, spend some time with your friend Dinah”
Batman hangs up and speeds off in the direction of the bat-cave, Barbars on th eother hand puts her phone down on the table wondering how Bruce knew about her and Dinah being friends, so that was the day done for Barbara and with nothing else to do she did end up spending a night out with Dinah where they spent time together just hanging out like regular school kids, as for Batman his night is only just beginning as the bat-mobile arrives back at the cave he gets out and is greeted by Alfred who has the bat-computer all set up and ready to get to work

“Vengeance Alfred...once you said it earlier it all clicked itno place in my mind, Vengeance..Elizabeth she has got to be behind Mr Freeze's outburst, I know this may sound totally crazy but hear my theory out”
Alfred nods awaiting Batman's theory as he spins around in the chair to face his butler

“Okay so what if Elizabeth is behind this?? not only is this Mr Freeze outburst so sudden but he seemed desperate Alfred, even more so then normal I mean he froze two GCPD officers without even thinking about it that's not the Victor Fries I know, now here comes the crazy part, I think Victor may have made a deal with someone powerful to keep the funding alive for Nora, and in Gotham there really is only one group that is all powerful and all knowing”

“Goodness, well if that is the case then no wonder Mr Fries is in such an emotionally volatile state, but with all of that being said there is no evidence linking this all together”

“I know but that won't be the case for long, for now I'm going to see where Freeze is going and I know exactly wherer thanks to this tracking device”
Batman pulls up the tracking device on the bat-computer it showing a map of Gotham with Mr Freeze a red dot in a giant screen of black and white

“It looks like Freeze is heading to the Gothcorp building”

“That's a chance I'm willing to take and I might have some help in the form of our new vigilante I saw at the museum last night”

“If this tracker works and things go smoothly perhaps I'll consider speaking to him again but for now I trust nobody only you and Barbara”

“See what Victor is doing there and then act accordingly”

Alfred nods and walks out of view as Batman looks at the bat-computer screen once more before getting back in the bat-mobilee with only one destintion in mind..Gothcorp, as Batman drove at top speed toward the facility he couldn't help but feel a sense of dread and uncertinty rush across his mind as he pulled up to the Gothcorp building, he exits the bat-mobile and activates his Detective Vision, back at the bat-cave communications to Batman via the Detective Vision come online as Alfred takes a seat at the bat-computer ready to get to work

Batman looks at the ground and entrance leading up into the Gothcorp building

“Nothing here except snow, some light droplets look like they might have fallen off Freeze's suit, I'm going to head inside and put an end to this madness”

Batman approaches the door but finds it unlocked, he pushes it open and walks slowly inside surveying the area around him which was nothing but darkness expect for a blinding light that was shining from a long ways down the main foyer area, Batman walked deeper into the bowels of the building, once he was closer he once again turned on his detective vision to survey the room, he gets two heat signatures signalling that Freeze is inside but he isn't alone and upon further inspection as Batman gets closer to the entranceway he hides in the hsadows behind a box of crates that're filled with all of Freeze's new weapons and artillery including his jetpack and freeze gun

“I hope your boss will be pleased with my work, I really hope she comes through on her promise or I really wouldn't want to be in her shoes if she doesn’t honour our little deal”
Batman who was still watching from the shadows learns the identity of the person Freeze is talking with it is none other than a Talon, a Talon soley working for the Court of Owls, Batman is even more surprised to see Mr Freeze hand the Talon something before it left the buliding leaving Freeze and Batman alone as Batman comes out of the shadows immediately questioning Freeze

“I never figured Victor Fries would be working for anybody let alone the Court of Owls”

“Meaningless words Batman, the Court came to me with an offer than was too good to say no to and at the end of it all my dear Nora's research will continue, I was so close to a cure until Gothcorp pulled my funding”
Batman not surprised by Victor's reasoning attempts to talk his way out of the situation

“I know how much Nora and your research means to you Victor but The Court Of Owls?? I'm sure they wanted something in return for funding didn't they??”
Mr Freeze nods his patience with Batman seemingly wearing thinner and thinner with each passing second

“Of course they did! this is Gotham after all and like I said to you at the Museum nothing will stop me from seeing my Nora again, now get out of my way Batman!”
Batman hesistates but stands his ground telling Freeze that he knows all about Vengeance and how she will not honor her and the Court's part of the deal Victor made with them

“I know about Vengeance Victor, I know that she is only manipulating you to get to me, to get to this city..you have to believe me on this, you're a good man Victor and I just want to help you”
Mr Freeze
“I don’t have to believe anything that comes out of your mouth Batman, I’ve had enough of this talk it’s all a waste of my precious time, now get out of my way or face the consequences”
Mr Freeze revs up his jetpack with its thermal based propellers blasting him up into the air and out of Gothcorp, Batman acting quickly launches his grapple gun at Freeze’s jetpack it attaching to the jet pack it not only launching Mr Freeze into the air but Batman also, the weight of the two almost instantly weighing the jet pack down decreasing its propulsion.

“What are you doing Batman?!”

“I told you I’m gonna help you Victor, now stop this madness and get us back on the ground”
Mr Freeze doesn't listen to Batman instead he only propells higher and higher into the air with Batman narrowingly missing a couple of buildings that could've easily taken him right out, with no end in sight and gravity his only ally Batman opens up his cape lets go of Mr Freeze and glides through the Gotham air like a bat in the night, upon landing he doesn't take his eyes off of Mr Freeze who keeps going forward, once again Batman is unsuccessful in his attempt to get Freeze to stop but he's still got The Dark Hero's tracker on him and right now that is the ace up Batman's sleeve, now with his feet firmly on the ground Batman is nowhere near the bat-mobile so contacts Alfred on comms to get him to send it to him via Lucuis's latest impressive invention the call bat-mobile device that when used by Alfred back at the cave can be piloted to Batmans location

“Alfred, Mr Freeze is in the wind, but I did manage to get confirmation that he is working with The Court Of Owls or at least he is working with them to get help with Nora's cure, I saw him meet with a Talon inside Gothcorp, let's just say it didn't end well and now I'm in the bowery”

“The bowery sir?? how did you get to the other side of that burrow??”
Batman
“Its a long story I'll fill you in once I get back, I called because I need the bat-mobile to get back and I know Lucius has a new piece of tech in the prototype stage is it ready to deploy yet??”

“You mean the call bat-mobile device?? it is very much a work in progress but I guess desperate times call for desperate measures and I don't think you sulking around the bowery at night is exactly ideal so..I'm on it sir the car should be with you soon”

The bat-mobile is soon with Batman once again after Alfred uses the call bat-mobile device at the bat-cave, Batman gets into the car and drives back to the bat-cave, upon arrival back he exits the vehicle and removes his cowl placing it on its holder

Bruce doesn’t respond instead he immediately sits down at the bat-computer letting out a sigh, just as he does a report about a commotion comes across the GCPD dispatch radio signal

“I grappled onto Freeze's new jetpack and let's just say it didn't exactly go as planned..but I still know where he is headed and I'm going to stop him Alfred even if Vengeance is somehow involved”

“Now I rest but tomorrow I leave Gotham for a while..”

“I’ve got it covered Alfred, I’m going to contact both Barbara and Dick ask them to cover while I’m gone, I was also thinking of asking Robin if he would put on the bat-suit so Gotham doesn’t lose it’s protector while I’m dealing with Freeze and whatever else comes my way”

“Master Grayson?? This is quite sudden not to mention such a big undertaking for young Richard are you sure about this??”
Bruce Wayne stands up and nods before pointing at the bat-computers screen it showing where Mr Freeze has gone, Alfred adjusts his glasses accordingly and looks at the screen

“The Arctic sir?? how is this possible?? Given the temperatures it does feel appropriate for Mr Freeze but how will you survive the sub zero temperatures??”

As day soon draws to night a new morning descends on Gotham the morning of Christmas Eve and with it a blanket of snow and a real sense of Christmas could be felt in the air, back at the bat-cave and Alfred is seen standing alone at the bat-computer as the lift to the cave descends out steps Barbara who looks around immediately noticing that Bruce is nowhere to be seen

“Okay so here’s the rundown Master Bruce has decided to finally go and put a stop to Mr Freeze once and for all and he has left the three of us in charge of Gotham until he returns “

“So he’s finally gone to put a stop to Mr Freeze huh?? where has he gone to do this!?”

“The Arctic sir”
Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon
“The Arctic??!”
Barbara and Dick look at each other before turning back to Alfred
Barbara Gordon
“How could Bruce not tell us?? and the arctic?? he won’t survive in this conditions you should’ve stopped him Alfred”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Master Bruce is as stubborn as he is heroic Ms Gordon, I tried to reason with him but you know how he is..how Batman is and besides he is equipped with a new suit from Mr Fox that’ll aid him in the freezing temperatures”
Dick Grayson
“This is nuts Alfred but I get it.. I mean Bruce is just doing what he thinks is right and the majority of the time it does turn out that he is right, but it is Christmas Eve why call me and Babs to the cave??”
Alfred Pennyworth
“For this!”
Alfred moves to reveal the batsuit which was in its display case
Dick Grayson
“What is this?? Bruce wants me? to become Batman? while he is away?? He can’t be serious Alfred and neither can you right now!”
Barbara looks at Dick with a concerned look
Alfred Pennyworth
“I assure you Master Grayson this is what Bruce wanted he said you two would know what to do and that he trusts nobody else”
Dick Grayson walks up to the display case looking directly at the bat-suit imagining himself in it for a brief moment before snapping back to reality

“I’m not Batman Alfred… I never will be I’m Richard Grayson of the Flying Graysons former Robin and now Nightwing protector of Bludhaven!”
Barbara walks towards Dick extending her arm to comfort him in what was becoming an increasingly more tense moment
Barbara Gordon
“I I know it’s not my place Richard but you’re the man for this job, you’re the rightful heir to this cowl as far as I’m concerned even if it does only end up being for a short period of time, whatever you decide I’ll be with you no matter what!”
Alfred looks at Barbara with a wide smile a smile beaming wide like a proud uncle to his niece

“I echo Ms Gordon’s words sir, tenfold!”
Dick lets out a sigh and nods his head ever so slightly
Dick Grayson
“Okay I’ll do it, I just don’t know if I’ll be any good it’s a pretty big batsuit to fill”
Just as Dick finishes speaking the alert sound goes off signaling an issue in the city, Alfred walks to the batcomputer to check what is happening

“Reports of a break in at Gotham Waterworks it seems Killer Moth is the culprit this should be a good way to break in the new threads Master Grayson”
Dick Grayson
“Never say threads again Alfred and besides you say it like it’s a good thing, Killer Moth is no pushover”
Barbara Gordon
“He was the first villain I helped Bruce take down y’know, we got this….Batman!
Dick nods as he and Barbara both suit up as Alfred sends them both the coordinates for Killer Moths location, Dick sees Barbara’s new costume for the first time and can’t help but compliment it when the two come face to face in the middle of the bar-cave both now fully suited up and ready to stop Killer Moth

“That suit is amazing Babs, I’m guessing Alfred and Bruce didn’t help you with it did they??
Alfred Pennyworth
“Don’t look at me sir this was all Ms Gordon’s doing”
Barbara Gordon
“The last suit was drab and lifeless this is colorful and much more my style”
Dick can’t help but smirk a little attempting to hide it ever so slightly but it was beaming straight through his cowl which wasn’t exactly a perfect fit
Batman
“Thanks Batgirl, now let’s get going!”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Best of luck to you both I will be here as always lending comms support”
Batman and Batgirl leave in the Batmobile heading to the location Alfred had directed to the cars GPS upon arrival they’re greeted by Killer Moth all tied up outside of Gotham Waterworks main entrance, they both exit the car and begin to investigate

“Killer Moth we meet again”
Killer Moth
“Batman..last thing I need is another costumed idiot putting a stop to my plan”
Batman
“Another costumed person?? Where?? Is that who tied you up?!”
As Batgirl looks around Batman continues talking to Killer Moth until all three end up getting interrupted by someone’s loud footsteps, it’s none other than The Dark Hero

“Who’re you?? Did you do this??”
The Dark Hero
“Just doing my bit you guys know how it is”
Batman
“Thanks…I guess! now leave the rest to us true professionals”
The Dark Hero
“You see I usually would but you aren’t Batman and I don’t work with anyone else but him”
Batman
“Not Batman?! Of course I’m Batman”
The Dark Hero
“Please, I’ve spent years studying Batman you’re not him, everything from your voice and candor to the loose fitting batsuit its so obvious you’re some sort of stand in so where’s the big guy gone huh?!”
Dick scoffs at the arrogance of The Dark Hero
Batgirl
“Look we don’t answer to you so it’s best if you just leave and we’ll take care of Killer Moth”
The Dark Hero shakes his head and readies his bow aiming it directly at Batgirl
The situation immediately becomes extremely tense that is until Alfred chimes in telling Batman and Batgirl just who The Dark Hero is and what he is up to

“Well I wasn’t expecting this sir, that is Gotham City's newest vigilante The Dark Hero, Master Bruce had a run in with him recently, he is actually the reason why Bruce knows where Mr Freeze is''
Batman
''So you weren't just going to let me on this bit of crucial information before we left??''
Alfred Pennyworth
''I do apologise Master Grayson but it has been rather stressful lately as you can probably imagine, I trust you and Ms Gordon now have this situation under control??”
Batman
“Affirmative”
Dick begins to try and reason with The Dark Hero as Batgirl can only help but look on hanging onto Dicks every word
Batman
“Okay so let me get this straight, you and Batman have been working together and you’re actually here to help us??”
The Dark Hero lowers his bow and begins to talk
The Dark Hero
“That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you all this time! All you vigilante types really need to learn to mellow out it’s not good for you being so stressed out all times”
Batman
“Well pardon me if I’m not in such a cheery mood right now I’ve been thrown in at the deep end here and I feel like I’m drowning”
The Dark Hero notices Batman beginning to breath a bit quicker the pressure of being Batman clearly getting to Dick in the moment
Batgirl
“Are you okay Batman?? Just remember to breathe it’s all going to be okay, we’re all on the same page here right?!”
Batgirl looks at The Dark Hero insinuating that he say yes
The Dark Hero
“Um right! Of course!”
Batman
“I’m sorry…I don’t know what just came over me”
Killer Moth
“Are you guys about done?? I’m getting a little angsty here, you know being tied up and all”
Batgirl
“The GCPD lockup awaits, let’s go Batman!”
The Dark Hero
“What no thank you?? I did all the heavy lifting on this one the least I could get is a little gratitude, a thank you, a gift card anything?!”
Batman
“Unless Batman says you’re cool then I don’t trust you and neither does Batgirl”
Batgirl nods in agreement with Batman
The Dark Hero
“Guess I’ll just have to continue proving my worth then won’t I?? I’ll see you soon…vigilantes”
The Dark Hero chuckles to himself as he uses a smoke pellet to escape from view
Batman
“Smoke pellets, I hate those things..let’s go Moth get in the back of the car and not a word on the way to the GCPD”
Killer Moth
“You know at least the real Batman would listen to me you guys including the person who just bailed are no fun at all”
Killer Moth gets into the back seat of the Batmobile as Batman and Batgirl get in the front their destination the GCPD Lockup
Batgirl
“What just happened back there?? I’ve never seen you get so overwhelmed like that before, are you sure you’re okay??”
Dick shakes his head
Dick Grayson
“Im fine, just nerves is all, jitters but it’s passed!”
Batgirl
“Jitters??! The only jitters I know is that cute coffee shop in Central City, but that’s besides the point what I’m concerned about is you…you know we haven’t talked much since you came back early”
Batgirl places her hand on Dicks which was steering the Batmobile
Dick Grayson
“Thanks Babs but honestly I’m okay, and we’ll make time to talk soon I promise you. right now I just want to get Moth to the GCPD lockup and get back to the cave”
Batgirl sighs slightly as they near their destination
Batgirl
“Like father like soon huh?? You and Bruce are so stubborn at times it’s actually so frustrating to try and deal with”
Dick Grayson
“Well unfortunately you have to be that way in this line of work and the sooner you realise that the better”
Batgirl looks at Dick with a look of shock once he finishes speaking
Batgirl
“Obviously! You think I’ve learned nothing from Batman??that is vigilante 101 behaviour but that doesn’t mean I’m going to abide by those rules and nor should you, be your own person Richard”
The bat-mobile arrives swiftly at the GCPD lockup it parking in its very own parking space designed especially for Batman to deliver criminals to justice, Dick sits silently for a brief moment regretting his words very much but there was no taking them back unfortunately
Dick Grayson
“I think it’s best I bring Killer Moth inside, I’ll be back shortly”
Batgirl just nods and waits for Dick to return so they could go back to the bat-cave, once Killer Moth is out of the car Batman walks him inside all while various criminals jeer at him and threaten him with meaningless physical and mental verbiage from behind their cells
Killer Moth
“The old walk of shame it never gets old does it Batman??!”
Killer Moth laughs as Batman grabs onto him tightly from the back, the two finally come to the GCPD lockup front desk and behind it stood Aaron Cash who was on duty
Aaron Cash
“Well look what the bat dragged in, Killer Moth again huh Batman??”
Batman doesn’t respond instead he just nods and leaves Killer Moth for the other GCPD officers to deal with
Aaron Cash
“No chit chat tonight Batman?? Alright suit yourself”
Batman stares at Cash for a few more seconds before turning around to walk back out the way he came in
Aaron Cash
Alright well thanks Batman keep up the good work!…I honestly don’t know how Gordon deals with this vigilante stuff it’s exhausting at times”
With Killer Moth now in custody and The Dark Hero out on the lamb Dick returns to the bat-mobile where he and Batgirl contact Alfred but not before Dick gets something off of his chest as he pulls off his Batman cowl fully exposing his face to Barbara
Dick Grayson
“I’m sorry what I said on the way here Barbara it was out of line and I feel so bad about it, in no way would I want you to think I was undermining you or that I’m somehow superior than you, these past few months of transitioning from Robin into Nightwing has been physically and mentally challenging to the maximum level but just knowing that you’re here in Gotham keeping it safe with Bruce is what keeps me going, well that and whenever I get to see you, you’re it for me Babs the most beautiful, intelligent person I’ve ever met…I love you”
Batgirl who was hanging onto every word that came out of Dicks mouth responds her breath shaky yet soft

“I love you too Richard, I’ll never forget that night you saved me outside of Gotham General Hospital, I think I fell in love with you a little bit that night, as for what you said I didn’t take it in any mean spirit, I know how hard and demanding and downright cruel what we do can be, it’s okay to not be okay you know, we can’t all be as sturn and strong as Bruce now can we?!”
Barbara finishes by placing her hand on Dick’s thigh who smiles at her in return as he puts the cowl back on as he contacts Alfred to fill him in on what has happened
Alfred Pennyworth
“All went according to plan I assume sir??”
Dick Grayson
“Correct, we’re heading back now”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Very well I shall see you back here soon then”
As Dick and Barbara drive back to the bat-cave Christmas was drawing nearer and nearer but Bruce Wayne’s night was only truly beginning as he is shown in the batwing getting close to his destination inside the Arctic Circle
Batman
“I’m getting close, can already feel the temperature dropping rapidly and my suits thermal padding is doing its work, I need to get in and out of here as quickly as possible”
Batman finds a place to land that isn’t too far from Mr Freeze’s location which turns out to be a giant igloo like structure piles of snow and chunks of ice surround it as Batman walks through deep snow to get to the entrance his suit working as intended it keeping him warm and completely focused on his mission of stopping Mr Freeze once and for all
Batman
“Endless snow, I’ve never seen an environment like this, I hope Alfred, Barbara and Dick are doing okay”
Batman finally comes to the entrance of the igloo standing before its almost angelic like doorway that was stunning to look at but deadly to touch, Batman is about to open the doors but they open themselves as a voice echoes around the igloo it bouncing off the walls like a vibrato tone
Mr Freeze
“Ah Batman you’ve arrived and you’re not a frozen bat-popsicle?! Judging from your apparel you’ve come well prepared”
Batman
“I’ve come to stop you Freeze before you do any more damage to Gotham and more importantly yourself!”
Mr Freeze
“Do you come into my humble abode I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that I’m not alone and that my dear Nora’s funding to find her a cure has been secured”
Batman walks deep into the igloo his footsteps loud and banging echoing throughout the icy landscape, he comes to a big door leading into the main area of the igloo, pushing it open he immediately sees Freeze in his suit standing speaking with someone who was sitting in a chair out of view
Mr Freeze
“Ah Batman you’re finally here we just talking at you weren’t we?? Now do me a favour and say hello to your sister….Bruce Wayne”
The chair turns around to reveal none other than Vengeance sitting in it, just like her and Bruce's first meeting she was once again flicking her butterfly knife in her hand wearing her Devil mask
Vengeance
“Hello brother, it’s been awhile hasn’t it?!”
Batman
“Elizabeth…I knew you were involved somehow”
Vengeance
“Bravo Batman, the worlds greatest detective ladies and gentleman, you know I thought you were smarter than you actually let on, I have eyes and ears everywhere Batman I know what you’re thinking even before you do”
Batman
“Unlikely! Now I came here for Freeze so let’s just get this over with, you want to end The Batman and Bruce Wayne’s legacy go ahead and try it!”
Batman readies himself preparing for battle
Vengeance
“You would really fight your own sister, your very own flesh and blood??!”
Mr Freeze
“You’re both wasting time with this sibling bickering, I’ve successfully negotiated a new deal Batman, a deal to exchange this trinket of no importance to me for my dear Nora’s continued funding and support while I search for her cure”
Batman
“And you just think Vengeance is going to uphold her part of the deal?? This isn’t you Victor and certainly isn’t something Nora would want you to do, getting involved with The Court of Owls?? It will not end well you got to believe me”
Mr Freeze
“DO NOT SPEAK ON WHAT NORA WANT…do not Batman..she is my wife, my everything in this world”
Batman
“I know Victor..Vengeance on the other hand I’m positive has an ulterior motive here”
Vengeance begins to clap in her chair while clutching in her hand the object given to her by Mr Freeze
Vengeance
“Now there is the world’s greatest detective! Of course I have ulterior motives, I mean don’t I always? Did you really think that fire at Wayne Tower was going to be the end of me? Of my plans my goals of getting rid of The Batman and exposing Bruce Wayne?! Mr Fries here was just a pawn I used to get this!”
Vengeance holds the object up in the air, it was in the shape of an hour glass it shimmering and sparkling as it hits the bright igloo light all while Mr Freeze looks on not saying one word until finally he speaks
Mr Freeze
“But what or Nora?? You said she would be returned to me”
Vengeance
“And she will be, bring her in!”
Batman and Freeze watch on as Nora is brought into the main area of the igloo her body still incased in ice via cryogenic freezing which was keeping her alive but not responsive, a Talon brings her in obeying Vengeance’s every word
Vengeance
“Good work, it was nice seeing you again brother dearest, I hope it’s not too long before we meet again, as for you Victor I would say it’s been a pleasure but I’d be lying..I bid you both farewell oh and one more thing, Talon do kill them both!
Startled by her words of intent both Freeze and Batman mobilise ready to fight The Court of Owls obedient assassin servant all while Vengeance slips out from under Batmans nose once again giving him no other choice but to fight with Mr Freeze then deal with Elizabeth later
Mr Freeze
“We must protect Nora at all costs Batman, help me and I’ll stop my threats to Gotham and aid you in this fight against Vengeance…nobody puts my Nora at risk without facing the consequences”
Batman
“That’s the most sensible thing you’ve said in days, okay I’ve got a plan the bat-wing is outside you get Nora and bring her out and put her in the back as carefully as you can, I’ll follow you once I’m done dealing with this Talon!”
Mr Freeze
“It seems I once again underestimated you…Bruce”
Batman
“Just don’t do it again and we’re even”
Mr Freeze
“Before I go here, I’ve developed various new cryo weapons from small explosives and throwables to a defrost device I hope they can help you, I’ll get Nora and meet you by this bat-wing of yours is it far from here??
Batman
“No just two clicks north of outside and you’ll find it, it’s all black so visibility won’t be an issue in this weather now go!”
Victor goes to get Nora and begins pushing her towards the front entrance as Talon advances towards Batman it focused completely on him in an almost robotic like way, seconds pass and a fight between the two about to commence when something or someone crashes through the igloos roof, dust and chunks of ice and snow clear to reveal none other than Superman standing in the middle of Batman and Talon!
Superman
“Need some help?!”
Batman
“Nice entrance and all but you just caused collateral damage to this igloo, and no I don’t need any help!”
Superman
“Well aren’t you just a bunch of sour grapes today?!”
Batman snarls and sighs as Superman chuckles, the Man of Steel only stops when a wayward punch from Talon almost hits him
Superman
“How’s about me and you team up seeing as I’m here and all?? Your friend outside is loading something onto your vehicle I assume you knew that?!”
Batman
“First, no to the team up and second I know I’ve got this whole situation under control”
Superman not listening to Batman uses his freeze breath to completely freeze Talon stopping the assassin right in its tracks
Batman
“Now why would you go and completely freeze over the Talon?!”
Superman
“Well because even if you don’t like to admit it I know you Bruce and deep down you know you needed help here”
Batman once more sighs but this time more contently before saying something under his breath
Batman
“Thank you…”
Superman clearly hears Batmans words of gratitude but playfully brushes it off playing along in the moment
Batman contacts Mr Freeze outside via the bat-wing computer with his gauntlet for a report on preparations for liftoff
Mr Freeze
“Nora is secure Batman I now await you so we can return to Gotham
Batman
“I’ll be right there Freeze sit tight”
Superman
“What no thank you??!”
Batman
“Maybe next time”
Batman walks towards the frozen Talon walking right past Superman he places Freezes defrost gadget on the crystallised Talon which will defrost over a short period of time
Batman
“You know my rule Clark”
Superman
“I know and you know how much I respect it”
Clark extends his hand to Batman the two stare at each other before shaking hands for a brief moment
Batman
“You tell the others we shook hands I’ll just deny it “
Superman gets ready to leave but stops to tell Batman one final thing
Superman
“One final thing before I go, me and Lois will be coming to Gotham soon for a reporter expo at the Gotham Royal Hotel, I’m sure it’ll be of no real interest to Bruce Wayne but just wanted to let you know in advance”
Batman
“How considerate of you Clark, well it just so happens that this year Bruce Wayne is one of the beneficiaries so I’ll be there, will be looking forward to see Lois, and you of course!”
Superman
“Oh Lois will be delighted, by the way..nice suit!”
Superman smirks at Batman before taking off flying directly out of the hole in the igloo roof he made upon entry
Batman
“Freeze I’m coming outside the Talon has been dealt with”
Mr Freeze
“Very well Batman”
Batman exists the igloo heading directly for the bat-wing Mr Freexe already strapped inside
Mr Freeze
“I didn’t know you and Superman were friends”
Batman
“We’re not”
Batman now in the cockpit sets a course for the bat-cave as he and Freeze head directly there, back at the cave Dick and Barbara have returned from their patrol the two now out of their gear sit with Alfred as Christmas Day crept up upon them
Alfred Pennyworth
“Are you sure you’re okay Master Grayson?? you didn’t seem yourself out in the field, I know what Bruce asked of you was a lot but you did a splendid job, you and Ms Gordon”
Barbara smiles at Alfreds kind words as Dick slumps in his chair.
Dick Grayson
“To be honest I have been struggling in Bludhaven, being on your own doing it all by yourself it’s a lot more difficult than I envisioned, maybe it’s because I’ve been so used to my time as Robin and consistently getting results and helping people, in Bludhaven it’s all become a bit of a blur with most nights just blending together”
Alfred with a concerned look on his face can only watch on as Barbara places her hand on Dicks thigh
Barbara Gordon
“You aren’t along Richard you never need to be ever again and I’m sure Bruce both feels and thinks the same way right Alfred??”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Of course, I’ll never forget the first time we met, that small scared little boy full of energy yet timid and shy seeing you become not just the hero you are but the man, I’m really proud of you Master Grayson
Dick smiles and chuckles at both Alfred and Barbaras comments
Dick Grayson
“Thank you both..I’ll try not to let you down”
Barbara Gordon
“You never could, how about I come to Bludhaven for the new year?? I’ve got time off school in January so I’ll tell my dad it’s a trip to spend some time with you and Bruce well I’m sure he’ll understand”
Alfred Pennyworth
“If he doesn’t I’ll make him understand Ms Gordon”
As Alfred finishes speaking the bat-wing comes crashing into the bat-cave via the waterfall entranceway it landing perfectly in its landing zone, instead of getting out Batman and Freeze remain inside as it begins to descend to the lower levels of the bat-cave basement where Batman and Mr Freeze both exit Nora still in the back secured
Batman
“I’ve had this idea of making the basement a new research point but given what we’ve just been through and with Nora needing proper supervision I feel like it’s for the best if you take this spot Victor, to come and go as you please to make sure Nora not only gets the best care but also a safe space for your work, I will also promise to help you with funding in anyway I possibly can”
Mr Freeze taken a back by Batmans extremely generous offer can’t do anything else other than shake his hand
Mr Freeze
“Thank you Batman, you’re nothing like Vengeance said you are, you’ve my eternal gratitude and Noras”
Batman
“Just trying to do the right thing Victor, you’re a good man deep down I’ve always known that…now settle in take a break whatever you want, I need to get upstairs I will check in on you
Mr Freeze nods and begins to rearrange the area to his liking with Nora being the centrepiece in his new very own basement research area, Batman makes his way back to the main floor of the bat-cave immediately greeted by Barbara, Dick and Alfred all three clambering to get a word with him
Alfred Pennyworth
“I trust everything went okay sir??”
Bruce Wayne
“There were complications as I expected, Vengeance is in possession of some sort of hour glass like relic that Freeze stole for her in return for Nora’s safety, me and Victor have come to an understanding and he is now below in the basement making it into a research area”
Barbara Gordon
“Freeze is here?? Are you sure that’s a smart move Bruce?!”
Bruce Wayne
“I made a promise Barbara, Dick, Alfred I’m sure you’ll understand and come to appreciate Victor as a new ally if not now then over time”
Barbara Gordon
“Well it’s good you’re back Bruce, gotta say after everything that’s happened the past two days I’m looking forward to spending Christmas with you all in a few hours”
Bruce Wayne
“That reminds me, Alfred could you go get the items I had made up”
Alfred Pennyworth
“Of course sir right away!”
Barbara and Dick look at one another then at Bruce as he sits at the head of the table in the main bar-cave foyer
Bruce Wayne
“Before Alfred returns I just want to thank you two for keeping Gotham safe while I was gone, I know it was a lot to ask especially for you Dick I didn’t mean to just throw you into the thick of things but desperate times and all”
Dick Grayson
“I understand and yeah I did struggle at first and may have said some things I regret but I did end up having some help from a certain special redhead”
Dick winks at Barbara as Alfred returns with two boxed items which were gift wrapped
Barbara Gordon
“What’s this??!”
Bruce Wayne
“These are your Christmas gifts, it’s the very early stages of Christmas I know but now feels like the right time to give you them, me and Lucius worked on them together..go on open them up”
Dick Grayson opens up his gift and is greeted by two stick like batons with rubber grips
Bruce Wayne
“These emit a small electric pulse from within and when thrown can not only ricochet off of surfaces but they are also like boomerangs as they’ll return to you, they’re called Escrima Sticks”
Dick is shocked and excited at what he sees, he gets out of his seat and hugs Bruce
Dick Grayson
“Thank you, these are amazing, lightweight, versatile and got a really good grip”
Alfred Pennyworth
“We all felt like Nightwing needed his own signature weapon sir and this is that! It suits you perfectly Master Grayson”
Barbara sees Dicks reaction and can’t help but smile and be giddy as she opens her gifts to reveal a small drone snd three of her very own batarangs
Barbara Gordon
“A field drone?? This is incredible Bruce, Alfred and you must thank Lucius for me, I’ll now be able to be more efficient on patrol with you and these batarangs are so cool the batgirl design is perfect!”
Bruce Wayne
“I’m so glad you both like them, I’m proud of what you’re becoming as both your own people and heroes but most important..my family, my very own bat-family”
All four share a tender sweet moment together as Christmas Day begins and a new chapter in this timeline is set in motion
