The Bride! review

 

Written and Dreicted by Maggie Gyllenhaal The Bride! is a very different take on the story of Victor Frankenstein and his monster. The movie outright tells yout his as the opening and various other parts of the film are narrated by the Author Mary Shelley (also played by Jessie Buckley) who explains that this version of the story is all about the motherf**king bride. And boy is this story about The Bride as Jessie Buckley explodes on the screen in a performance that absolutely insane in the all the best ways possible. Everything from her demanor and the way she moves and reacts is so good and further proves her excellence as an actor and performer. Christian Bale plays Frankenstein or as he is known in this story Frank. His performance is the perfect accompany piece of Buckley's bride as he brings the chaos, he brings a real sense of energy and physicality when needed. 

The Bride! is visually class and showcases a time in New York and Chicago that really was heavy and bursting with crime and punishment all led by various gangs and Mafia. It begins in a very brutal and vicious way all culminating in a movie that is half comedy / horror and half a crime caper ala Bonnie and Clyde as Frankenstein and his bride go on a choatic rampage throughout the cities spreading violence and insentive wherever they go. 


The Bride! is far from perfect but it is a total trip and a half. It's shot extremely well and while some of it's writing isn't great overall it is uniquely sitched together resulting in a monster mash of a movie that features musical moments, widespread chaos and two lead performances that are electrifying and wildly entertaning. Here comes the motherf**king bride indeed!

Florence Pugh stars as Saraya Knight a young girl from Norwich England. Her brother Zak Knight played by Jack Lowden has one dream. A family who fight as we're shown the entire Knight family wrestling in small venues in Norwich. Gotham 5x1 : Year Zero review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Gotham finally returns for it's fifth and sadly last season and with a run of only 12 episodes there is a lot to get through and eventually wrap up. It begins on Day 391 of No Man's Land as the final battle for Gotham comes to a head as Captain Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Riddler and even Penguin all suit up and get loaded for combat as all men led by many more GCPD officers open fire from a top a massive wall as Jim Gordon says ''For Gotham'' this of course is going to be the end of the season but let's go all the way back to day 87 of No Man's Land where we see Gordon talking to someone on a radio. He explains the situation currently going on in Gotham. Superman & Lois 3x13 : What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger review

                Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Season 3 of Superman and Lois has come to and end in the most devastatingly epic way. The finale opens up with Sam Lane telling Lois and Clark that Lex Luthor is nowhere to be found. Clark adds more to this by saying he can't hear him either but Lois is not convinced after all Lex did literally threaten her at the end of last weeks episode. A meteor shower is planned for the evening right at the center of Smallville town so you just know something is going to go down then and as expected something major does go down but more on that a bit later. As the boys leave the house Lois tells Clark that she is ready to be intimate again and the two fly off to a private secluded area where they can be together for the first time since Lois had her breasts removed due to her cancer.
