The Strangers Chapter 3 review

The third and final movie in the Strangers trilogy has finally drawn the three part horror story to a close and it is as boring and uninspired as the other two entries. Final girl Maya returns and after the ending of chapter 2 she is put squarely in the sights of the strangers as she struggles to survive admist being hunted and ultimately captured and forced to become a killer rather than a victim. This movie really strugglers from having any sense of real urgency as it meanders from one scene to the next. Various flashbacks to the past showcasing The Strangers many kills over the years does little to help as not knowing about these characters is what at the end of the day makes them so scary and real.

Performance wise it's pretty subpar Maya played once again by Madelaine Petsch is fine but really lacks any sort of energy especially in high tensions cases, I get it's because she's supposed to be scared for her life but it really hinders these moments rather than add to them. There's also very little dialouge this time around instead trying to voice the characters by their actions and while some points do work sort of it just falls flat on it's face for the most part with some really poor choices and decision making.

All in all The Strangers trilogy has been a total failure in nearly every aspect. From the poor characters, writing and lack of any urgency and tension it's conclusion is both uninspired and doesn't feel warranted at all. Chapter 3 is just about better than the really bad Chapter 2 but it's still nothing to write home about as the trilogy ends on a big whimper more than a final bow that feels earned.
