The Strangers Chapter 2 review

The Strangers Chapter 2 has arrived aftet 18 months since Chapter 1. With so much time passed in between movies you may have forgotten what happened but the movie does an okay job at recapping as it picks up pretty much where the original movie ended with protagonist Maya who having just survived the whole ordeal of the first movie is in hospital and is in pretty rough shape. Upon waking up she is told about her fiance's demise at the hands of three ruthless killers who attacked them without any warning or reasoning. With Maya now exposed and all alone in hospital it's not long before her night turns from nightmare to an even bigger one as the Strangers turn up at the hospital hot on her tail once again.

What follows is an overly ambitious meandering horror / thriller movie that has some good stuff going for it but for the most part it just feels so barren and really bare bones with it's plot. The first 30-40 or so being mainly a chase sequence was utterly fascinting but once that comes to a close so does the movie sadly as everything that comes after barring the ending really didn't even need to be here. Madelaine Petsch excels in her role even though there isn't much dialogue. It's a really physically demanding role and she does really well with the material given to her.

So in summary is this a worth follow up to Chapter 1?? well yes and no it's bland and quite boring besides the elongated chase sequence like I mentioned. It's ending is pretty interesting in setting up Chapter 3 but overall however it's a weak follow up to what was already a pretty average first chapter. Perhaps once all chapters are able to be viewed at once this might end up being an okay trilogy but as of right now it just feels rather redudant.
