Honey Don't! review
The team behind Drive Away Dolls are back and this time with a movie that quite literally has nothing going on in it that is anyway exicitng. Margaret Qualley stars as a private investigator tasked with finding information on a woman who has been found dead seemingly after a car crash. But it's not just this case she juggles as various things begin to happen all tieing back to a mysterious Church which is run by a charismatic ego driven lunatic played by Chris Evans. After Drive Away Dolls which I really loved I went into this movie expecting quite the similar experience but as a whole Honey Don't! really didn't do anything for me. Everything from the setting and peformances feel dead and redudant. The only true highligh being Qualley's will they won't they (they definitely won't) relationship with a local police officer played by Charlie Day.
With Ethan Coen behind the camera and on writing duties you'd expect quite a quick and witty story full of silly beats and eccentric characters and while that is here for the most part it's bland, boring and so uninspired of anything truly memorable. Qualley is okay at best and Chris Evans doesn't nearly ham it up as much as he should've in my opinion. With plenty of sex on the menu you'd think it would be super hot but it all feels cheap and tacky which is a shame.
Honey Don't! is a boring, really barren movie filled with nothing jokes and characters that bored me to no end and really had me waiting for it all to be over which is never a good thing. I really wouldn't recommend this at all unless when it comes to streaming services then check it out but otherwise this isn't worth the price of admission sadly.
