Caught Stealing review

The latest movie from Director Darren Arnofsky comes a dark comedy / crime drama starring Austin Butler as a former baseball prodigy who finds himself caught up in a web of lies, deceit, murder and money. Right off the bat (pun intended) Caught Stealing gets underway and for the rest of it's runtime is pretty much unrelenting. It's fast paced, visceral, hilarious and packs quite a punch. Also starring Zoe Kravitz and Matt Smith who really steals the show here as an over the top punk rocker Caught Stealing is pure popcorn entertainment at it's finest.

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Austin Butler ever since Elvis he just really hasn't impressed me at all and well that changes here..big time. His performance is electric and he is very likable even if he too is a flawed character you just can't help but find yourself rooting for him. Special mention must go to Matt Smith however who is chaotic and hilarious. His performance is downright bonkers as he brings the spark that ignites the fire under Butler's characters ass. From Russain gangsters to Jewish brothers it's total mayhem at times.

Caught Stealing is so well done, it is thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end with great performnaces from Butler, Smith and Zoe Kravit who just oozes sex appeal throughout. Is it perfect?? well no but it is everything you could want from a trip to the movies. It's big, bold and insane and is well worth checking out! A near perfect home run from Darren Arnofsky.
