Elio review

I love Pixar. I've said so on more than one occasions on this blog. With each new movie they release comes stories bursting with heart, emotion and creativity. This new movie follows a young boy named Elio who after the death of his parents goes to live with his aunt. Elio is an underdog so to speak who has a pretty active imagination especially when it comes to Aliens and attempting to find out if we are truly alone in this universe. His entire life is turned upside down and inside out quite literally when he inadvertantly gives away the location of Earth to a group of Aliens who take him to their planet where he is mistaken as the leader of Planet Earth.

Elio is really visually stunning, incredible vistas flood the screen time after time in the Alien world while Earth is dark and dreary just as Elio sees it. The variety of Aliens on display is equally impressive here and they're a true standout. None more so than Elio himself however who is instantly likable easy to root for. He may be a bit of a loner but his personality and wanting to find knowledge of the universe is very cute and very real. The bond he makes with a worm like Alien is also super adorable as they become friends almost instantly.

When it comes to story Pixar really are the best in the game in my opinion. From Toy Stoy, to Bugs Life, Coco and everything else in between they're a colossal studio packed with impeccable talent. And Elio really does stand head and shoulders alongside some of the greats. It's fantastic from beginning to end and ends with a really good message that is easy to relate with. With it's stunning visuals, bombastic Aliens and worlds Elio is a big winner for Pixar and proves their excellence once again.
