Thunderbolts* review

The latest MCU entry is Thunderbolts which in a sense is a far departure from what has come previous it's a lot more grounded and very character focused which took me by surprise. Thunderbolts follows a group of 'villains' who are lured into a deathtrap only to find out that they all been played leading to them forming a new superteam which includes Florence Pugh as Yelena, Bucky Barnes, The Red Guardian and others. All coming from pretty broken lives and ordeals it is in these moments where their past is confronted where Thunderbolts is at it's absolute best.

Returning from Black Widow we have Florence Pugh who is the quote unquote leader so to speak. Her performance is flawless here and easily the standout of a movie that is really solid but it doesn't really go any further than that. The character moments and interactions are well done but there's times where it's just so utteruly boring I lost interest on more than one occasion. Doesn't help that the so called big bad of the movie is really unlikable and not for the right reasons either. We are introduced to a new character however simply named Bob he is intriguing, understated and really fascinating as layers of his backstory are peeled away.

So is Thunderbolts any good??? yeah it is, it's a different movie for the MCU with a lot less action but when the action does come it delivers big time, special mention to an ending sequence where everyone works together flawlessly. There is also a mid and post credit scene and it hints at what is to come which is exciting so that's something to look forward too. So overall Thunderbolts isn't exactly amazing, it is very good tho and offers plenty of action and heartfelt moments with a outstanding performance by Florence Pugh. A good way to start the big summer blockbuster season!
