Mission : Impossible - The Final Reckoning review

Mission Impossible is one of my all time favorite franchises of any genre. The things Tom Cruise has done to elevate this series to the levels it is at is nothing short of remarkable. Fast forward to present day and the Final Reckoning has arrived but is it a good send-off for Ethan Hunt and the IMF or will it be mission failure?? The Final Reckoning's story picks up almost right where Dead Reckoning ended with Ethan Hunt in possession of one half of a key which gains him access to the original source code of a deadly AI named 'The Entity' Hunt is refusing to give up the key to any and all authorities instead he has gone dark only turning to his IMF friends.

The setup is simple as it's a continution so it really feels like Dead Reckoning just ended and boom we're off again and that's what the pacing feels like here. Tom Cruise and everyone else involved has once again set the bar not just for action movies but spy / thrillers and not a moment of it's runtime goes to waste and it's a pretty beefy runtime at close to 180 mins in length. The humour, action and character interactions are all on point as come to expect but it is the stunts once again that lifts The Final Reckoning to an all time great level in my opinion.

Tom Cruise you're absolutely nuts, is something I muttered to myself at least 4-5 times while watching this movie. At points I couldn't believe what was unfolding before my very own eyes. There's a submarine scene that is as terrifying as any horror movie of recent memory. It's proper nail biting stuff and is expertly shot and put together as we experience everything Ethan Hunt does. It's as good as it gets and I've not even mentioned the final act that is one of the most thrilling things I've ever watched unfold on the big screen. With stakes at an all time high it's only fitting that Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt does what he does best, save the world! if this is the ending to this franchise then my word what a way to go out. The bar has been raised once again which is something I didn't believe was possible after Mission Impossible Fallout but here we are. The Final Reckoning is must see on the biggest screen possible and is easily one of my favorite movies of 2025. God bless Tom Cruise and everyone else involved this is a real crowning achievement. This review will self destruct in 5 seconds.....
