Abigail review

From the team behind the new Scream movies comes Abigail a blood soaked vampiric dream scape that is as entertaining as it is full of the red stuff. The story follows a group of people who kidnap the 12 year old daughter of a seemingly wealthy man..or have they?? it's a simple clean setup and throws you right into the heart of the action, there's no messing around or waiting here which I loved. From Melissa Berrera to Katherny Newton to Kevin Durand and more Abigial's cast is energetic, hilarious and full to the brim of life.

To say there is a lot of blood involved here would be an understatement, there's blood almost from the get go. Blood comes out of people, blood sprays people, blood is spewed like water from a faucet and it is as gross as it is devilish. The majority of the movie taking place in a giant mansion proves for some fun and unquie moments but much like other horror movies the cliche split up and see what we can find happens here leading to more mystery and blood spilling. It's overly silly but somehow Abigail makes it all blend together into a cocktail of fun and blood in what feels like a total fever dream at times. All elevated by great performances and a true break out perfromance from Alisha Weir who plays the titular Abigial who is as mysterious as she is terrifying.

Abigail is a blast, nuff said really. It's one of the best vampire movies in recent memory full of bites, frights and delights. Radio Silence have delivered another stellar horror outing that somehow combines a ballet performance with the vampiric tales of old. Brilliant and bloody Abigail is something that is deifnitely worth your time!
