Superman & Lois 3x3 : In Cold Blood review

Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

After last weeks brilliant and very emotional episode can this weeks episode of Superman and Lois be a worthy follow up?? the episode begins with Superman flying through the city of Metropolis after hearing Lois cry out for help. As he gets closer to her location we see that the entire city is basically crumbling both beneath and around Superman. Even the Daily Planet is not safe and ultimately it crumbles with it's main symbol and viewpoint above which is the iconic globe with it's name on it falls off and plummets to the ground with Lois standing directly in it's path. Superman manages to save her in the nick of time but just as he does Clark wakes up in a panic in his own bed with Lois beside him. It was a nightmare as I expected as the scene went on. The following day is soon upon Lois and Clark and it begins with Lois ringing her sister Lucy to inform her of her cancer diagnosis. Not only does Lois tell her sister but she basically tells everyone else too including her dad, Natalie and John and even Lana. It's an emotional montage for sure.

With everyone in the know now Lois's first treatment of chemo-therapy is set and her and Clark are going to go together. Lois's mind seems to be elsewhere however as she seems to be closing in now more than ever on the Bruno Mannheim case. So much so that she totally forgets about showing up for her first treatment which enrages not only her co-worker / partner Chrissy but also her dad and even Clark who was all set to attend the treatment with her. Lois's dad even gets mad at Clark for letting his daughter's mind be elsewhere when it should solely be focused on her treatment and overall well being.

The episode draws to a close as Lois reschedules her treatment but as expected given what happened the first time she actually ends up leaving this time. Just as Clark leaves to help people in need in Napal of all places Lois messages Chrissy for updates and she gets them in the form of a location that seems to be housing plenty of Inter-gang secrets. So Lois and Chrissy set off this location and inside they're met with men who are heavily armed. They manage to get into a room that houses blood, plenty of blood. There's one problem however. They can't contact Superman once inside but Lois and Chrissy have a plan. Lois surrenders herself to the men with Chrissy out of sight, that is until she is able to contact Superman who is there in an instant. Our hero gets more than he bargained for though when one of the men has Kryptonite empowered gauntlets that he uses on Superman so much so that John Henry Irons has to be called in to help which he does. Superman and Steel save Lois and Chrissy but at the cost of the entire facility being destroyed with the blood along with it. But Lois ever the smart one had earlier taken a DNA sample and sent it to the D.O.D to be examined. Let's see what results come back. The episode does end back at the Kent farm where Lois gets the call from her dad who tells her who the blood belonged to and not surprising really it belongs to Superman. How did Inter-gang get his blood?? it's a mystery but they're clearly using it to power up people for their nefarious purposes. The episode actually doesn't end there but on a more somber note as Lois finally accepts her treatment process and is ready to begin as her and Clark drive off to start. It's a very emotional ending to another great episode and follow up to last weeks instant classic. Bar the premiere episode this is now two quality episodes of Superman and Lois back to back and shows that this is one of the best things DC has going for itself right now in both film and TV.
