Superman & Lois 2x7 : Anti-Hero review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
This weeks episode of Superman and Lois is most definitely a tale of two halves. The first half while not bad by any means really pales in comparison to what unfolds in the second half. The episode begins where last weeks ended with Superman being transported to the same prison cell as his brother Tal-Rho. Here it is completely covered in a red light which diminishes all power within a Kryptonian. It is inside of these cell walls where a lot of the first half of the episode takes place as Superman is left to talk with his so called brother. They soon get a visit from L.T Anderson who once again asks that Superman help him by telling him of Bizarro's location. Superman doesn't say anything instead once again insists that Ally Alston is the real guilty party and threat here. Anderson's anger and frustration grows throughout the episode before coming to a boiling point later on leading to a massive twist. We're soon back with the both Jordan and Johnathan and after last week's info that the police are looking into the Kryptonite from the mines being supplied and used by people this week the police turn up at the boys high school. Not only does Johnathan get found out but he faces being expelled from the school. All he has to do is name his supplier who just so happens to be his girlfriend Candice. Will he rat her out?? when Lois finds out about what Johnathan has been doing she gets very upset and angry with him as expected. But what will Clark think??
Speaking of Clark he is still at the prison cell with his brother when Anderson and his team rush in. They place a Kryptonite laced bracelet of sorts around Tal-Rho's neck as they purge him for information all while Superman watches on. Once they stop and leave the two brothers come to an arrangement of sorts which includes them working together but at what cost? and will it be a mutual alliance? things gets underway when both Superman and Tal-Rho trick Anderson's guards into thinking they're having a full blown fight in the prison cell. They aren't fighting at least not for real as once the guards are inside of the cell Superman awakens from a supposed knocked out state and the two brothers take out the guards leading to them both getting out of the cell and back into the world of the living their powers returning almost instantly.
The episode draws to a close back at Tal-Rho's Fortress where he meets Bizarro for the first time. It is here where the episode really kicks into place and steps up it's game. Bizarro tells Tal-Rho that he betrayed him on his world much like he did to Superman of this world. All because of his wife who Bizarro fails to mention her name. Who could Tal-Rho be married to in the Bizarro world? and will we ever meet her? as Bizarro is purged for info Superman hears something off in the distance. It's a Kryptonite laced missile that lands right in the middle of the Fortress. It damages both Superman and Tal-Rho as among the smoke L.T Anderson appears with some weapons from the D.O.D and even some inhalers filled with Kryptonite from the mines. He inhales it and a giant fight between Anderson, Tal-Rho and even Bizarro takes place. Tal-Rho takes a Kryptonite laced bullet or should I say bullets in place of Superman as he jumps in front of the shot. He is badly injured which leads to Superman using his heat vision to eradicate the Kryptonite shrapnel but it's not enough. Tal-Rho needs the power of the sun to get some strength back. Superman rushes him off to the solar powered ball of energy which restores his brother but not to his fully fledged self. While Superman is doing this back at the Fortress Bizarro gets released from his cage and begins a battle with Anderson which Bizarro ends up losing leading to his death which was pretty shocking to be honest. Anderson who was fueled with Kryptonite from the mines in his inhaler basically chokes Bizarro out before just leaving him there. When Superman returns he finds his counterpart dead. Wow was my only reaction here in a 10 minute spell of action that was so intense and well done. So with Bizarro out of the picture now what? well the episode ends with L.T Anderson with his pendant in hand meeting Ally Alston before she says that the pendant is the key to everything going forward and with two pendants now in her possession it looks like her plan will be fully in motion going forward. And that's the episode. There was a lot more here too like Lana fighting back in her Mayor campaign and Sarah meeting her dad for the first time since she learned of his cheating. But the real highlight here was Superman and Tal-Rho's relationship which was once again built upon really well and was so believable. This isn't the best episode of the season but I really did enjoy this one. Action packed and good storytelling as always. Superman and Lois now takes a mini hiatus and will return in 2 weeks. Until then Clark!
