The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It Review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.

The third movie in the Conjuring trilogy is a case featuring the devil, some nasty tricks and scares. Now known as The Conjuring universe which the original movie began as it spun off plenty of sequels, prequels and the like. This movie is the third entry into the main series that follows Ed and Lorraine Warren a married couple who are experts on all things demonic and paranormal entities. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as the Warrens as this time around they are tasked with investigating a murder that may in fact be linked to demonic possession. It's a pretty basic premise and set up but much like the other two Conjuring movies it does it's job and works fine.

I myself have only recently see both movies in this series before going to see this final chapter and seeing them all almost together it really opened my eyes to the overall quality of them all. The Devil Made Me Do It is by far the worst entry in the trilogy not really boasting any impactful or warranted scares. The second movie especially had pretty much everything you could want from a horror movie. It had suspense, mystery and a really solid story driven narrative. This movies story however is clunky, lackluster an quite frankly boring at points. That being said there is some good performances here from Patrick Wilson and Vert Farmiga as is to be expected given just how good they have been throughout the trilogy and even the spinoffs. They're entirely believable as Ed and Lorraine Warren which does make the overall viewing a little bit easier.

With all of that in mind The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It isn't a complete disaster it does have some interesting aspects like demonic possession, Ed's failing heart and breathing problems and even focuses on the duality of your actions and the impending actions the justice system will take. If this is the final outing for The Warrens however I do wish they could've gone out with just a little more of a bang y'know?
