Mission : Impossible - Fallout review
Mission Impossible Fallout is the sixth entrant into the franchise and it may well just be the absolute best yet. Tom Cruise returns once more as Ethan Hunt an IMF agent. This time racing against the clock itself after a job goes horribly wrong and nuclear weapons fall into the hands of strong and powerful enemies who plan on using said weapons to wipe out 1/3 of the worlds population. So it's up to Ethan Hunt and his team to once more save the day. That's the story and it's simple in it's premise but it's the action scenes that keep people who love this franchise coming back for more with each installment. Now you'd think with this being the sixth entrant into the series they'd be wearing thin on ideas for the action sequences but boy oh boy you would be so wrong.
Tom Cruise is superhuman and puts in an incredible effort throughout here. He's riding a motorcycle through a crowded Paris motorway, jumping out of a plan at 20 thousand feet, he's dangling from a helicopter, he's running and jumping from building to building and it's all presented in such a blistering and unique way that you will be on the edge of your seat time after time. The rest of the cast do a pretty stand up job also including Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin and Henry Cavill (who really steals the show in my opinion) but obviously it's Cruise who is the star here as he's always been throughout the now six movies.
With some incredibly amazing action sequences and a pacing that feels utterly relentless Mission Impossible Fallout is the pinnacle action movie and has really set the standard going forward for the genre as a whole. And what makes it even better is that not only does the pacing never let off but the movie just seems to get better and better as it reaches a heart pounding finale. Tom Cruise and everyone else involved have created an action movie for the ages that will leave you completely invested in it's characters and their surroundings. This is one you just must go and see. This review will self destruct in five seconds...
