Wonder Woman review
Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine among many other talents Gal Gadot shines as the Amazonian Princess Diana Prince. Set in the paradise island of Themyscira, this movie starts out with the origin of the God Of War told to a young Diana by her mother Queen Hippolyta. The Amazons wield the only weapon that can kill a god..the god killer! only to be held by the fiercest of the Amazon warriors.
Fast forward years into the future and we see Diana training and learning her craft to which she injuries her trainer to the point of almost knocking her out completely. Diana riddled with guilt runs to the shoreline and sees a plane crash land into the ocean. It is then that we are introduced to Captain Steve Trevor. Diana's love interest and a member of the British Intelligence.
Both lead roles in this share a really good connection and some of the scenes between them are genuinely hilarious. The scenes where Diana is introduced to things in mans world for the first time are just brilliant and Gal Gadot really looks like she is having a blast. The villains in this are okay I mean they aren't amazing or anything but they do their job well. Dr Poison and General Luddendorf are apart of the German side of things preparing to make a new weapon in a gas form. But it's really Ares The God Of War who is the big bad of this movie. I'm not going to spoil who it is but I was really surprised at his identity when I first saw this. The final battle unfortunately falls into the same trap of other superhero movies. Lot of CGI and building or area breaking. Still it was great to see Diana take on Ares for the first time on the big screen. Small little note but when all is said and done I just love how Diana was emailing Bruce after he sent her that picture that we saw in Batman V Superman. It just furthers expands the universe even just a little bit and it's a nice touch.
All in all this is an epic movie done on a massive scale. Gal Gadot really is Wonder Woman and Chris Pine is a fantastic Steve Trevor. Patty Jenkins delivers what I think is the 2nd best movie to date in the DCEU (Batman V Superman still trumps it for me)
