Kingsman The Golden Circle review
Kingsman The Golden Circle starring Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Channing Tatum among many other amazing talents. Set after the first movie which I personally loved as it was fresh unique and put a totally different spin on the entire spy genre. This movie starts right off with a fantastic car chase scene through the streets of London it was fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat.
Eggsy and co are back though and this time they are tasked with bringing down a criminal group only known by the name ''The Golden Circle'' hence the title of the movie. Julianne Moore who plays the owner of this criminal group ''Poppy'' is good if underused in her role. After Samuel L Jackson's rather brilliant role as the villain in the first movie she had a tough opponent to top but she definitely plays this well, although she does suffer from a lack of serious screen time. A little bit more screen time and she would have benefited a lot more as a menacing foe.
There's a pretty obscene love scene in this that features the most unique use of a tracker I've seen used in a movie in quite some time. Let's just say it is quite the sight to witness and it needs to be seen to be believed. This movie is over 2 hours long which was at least 20 minutes too long in my opinion. Some scenes feel stretched a bit and could have been cut out. But others feel like they could have been expanded upon. Channing Tatum gets very little screen time here which really hurt it. He plays his part so well complete with a southern accent. Other than that though this movie is a fast paced ride full of twists and turns.
The action sequences are just spectacular at times and well worthy the price of admission alone. They are fast paced exciting and just downright brutal at times. Special shout out to the Agent with the lasso because he just stole every single scene that he was in. He made that lasso do things I thought weren't possible. Taron Egerton excels in his role and plays it to absolute perfection. Nice also to see Colin Firth back as he was a standout of the first movie. Mark Strong returns also and even belts out a rendition of Country Strong in the final act that is both action heavy and emotional. Kingsman The Golden Circle is a fun ride that while not as good as the original is worth checking out.
