American Made review

American Made starring Hollywood megastar Tom Cruise. This is based on the true story of Barry Seal a pilot who gets entangled with the CIA, The White House and Pablo Escobar.

Cruise plays Barry Seal to absolute perfection and delivers what I think is his best performance in a long time. This was very much needed after the very lackluster movie that was The Mummy earlier this year. Seal gets entangled with both the Colombian Cartel and the CIA at the exact same time and goes from smuggling drugs to guns to even money. This is a beautifully shot movie with some real close up shots that really add to the feel of the surrounding areas. The movie takes us from Baton Rouge to Colombia to everywhere else in between. The supporting cast are all really good here also but it's obviously Cruise who carries the movie and he does it with such style at times that you forget you're watching a movie it feels like a true life story.

This a movie you should definitely be checking out on your next visit to the cinema it might not be for everyone but the appeal of Cruise alone is what makes it really. My words don't do his performance justice. This could even be on par with his performance in Born On The Fourth Of July and Rain Man. The Cruise Machine hits a home run with this one. Highly recommended.
