Mission : Impossible - Fallout review

Image
Mission Impossible Fallout is the sixth entrant into the franchise and it may well just be the absolute best yet. Tom Cruise returns once more as Ethan Hunt an IMF agent. This time racing against the clock itself after a job goes horribly wrong and nuclear weapons fall into the hands of strong and powerful enemies who plan on using said weapons to wipe out 1/3 of the worlds population. So it's up to Ethan Hunt and his team to once more save the day. That's the story and it's simple in it's premise but it's the action scenes that keep people who love this franchise coming back for more with each installment. Now you'd think with this being the sixth entrant into the series they'd be wearing thin on ideas for the action sequences but boy oh boy you would be so wrong. Tom Cruise is superhuman and puts in an incredible effort throughout here. He's riding a motorcycle through a crowded Paris motorway, jumping out of a plan at 20 thousand feet, he's da...

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again review

Image
Based on the hit stage musical and all those classic ABBA songs. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is a follow up from the original 2008 movie and builds upon it so well. The story follows Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who along with her dad, husband and others sets out to fulfill her mother's wish of reopening her hotel in Athens Greece. But that's only one side of it all as on the other you have the story of Sophie's mom played by Lily James (And Meryl Streep in the original) and all blends together really well in quick edits combined with those amazing ABBA songs that will have your foot tapping and tapping cheering for an encore at times. The story and characters are completely fine here as really it's the songs and the choreography that'll keep you coming back and wanting more. That being said there is some pretty impressive performances mainly from Lily James who really nails a young Donna (Meryl Streep) in almost every aspect. She's adventurous, well spoken and...

Ocean's 8 review

Image
The wave of female led movies over the years has never been a smooth ride. From Rough Night to god forbid Ghostbusters but with Ocean's 8 it hits a lot of the right notes. Notice I said a lot not all as it does pose some flaws throughout particularly in it's character's and some scenes that added little to nothing to the overall narrative and flow. Sandra Bullock leads a pretty impressive cast which also includes Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter (who bolsters a pretty terrible Irish accent, why she just didn't use her own accent is beyond me) Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and others. The cast as I say impressive but the characters they play? not so much honestly. Apart from Anne Hathaway who is just brilliant as an over the top New York socialite but other than her the rest of the characters are pretty under developed which is a shame as there is some really talented actresses here. The story in itself is nothing new either as Bullock's character (who is the siste...

Supergirl 3x23 : Battles Lost And Won review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it The season finale of Supergirl's third season has come and gone and with it came one of the most overall solid episodes this season and brought to a close what has been an enjoyable season overall. It begins right from last week's ending as National City continues to be torn apart from the ground up by Reign and the terraforming technology. This prompts everyone into action to fight for not only National City but the entire Earth. So Kara, Mon-El, Alura, Jonn, his father and Guardian all race to save the city. They are also aided by Imra and Brainiac-5 who return after getting Mon-El's signal message from Argo City. They all do some serious work but in the end it is Jonn's father who ends up saving the whole city but at the cost of his own life. He of course knew this before hand but the scene nevertheless where he and his son say their goodbyes was really impact ...

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of Supergirl kicks off much like last week's did as it picks up right from where it left off as we see Serena and 2 other women enter the fortress that was opened just as last week's episode ended. As they are all inside they announce their intent to bring back Reign and make her stronger than ever before. At Argo City Kara her mom and Mon-El look for a way to get any sort of message to Earth in an attempt to get back there in time to stop Serena and foil her plan of destruction. They eventually find a way to send a signal to Earth through a crystal from Kara's pod that also is housed at the DEO. Winn receives the message and we get a funny exchange of Kara talking through a hologram of her mom. Winn agrees to help them come up with a way to get back to Earth so they can help but just as he says this Serena and her two allies come crashing into...

Supergirl 3x21 : Not Kansas review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of Supergirl begins right where last week's ended as Kara and Mon-El crash into where Lena has been keeping Reign. The 3 fight as Lena quickly works on a way to turn the black rock into a liquid form that can be injected into Reign. She is successful and hands Mon-El the syringe and he injects Reign which leads to the World Killer being taken from Sam's body before ultimately being destroyed. So no more Reign? looks that way as back at the DEO Sam is reunited with Ruby and thanks Alex for all she done the past couple of weeks. At Kara's apartment her and Alex talk about how Kara has decided to go home to Argo City and be with her people again. The two sisters embrace and share an emotional scene as back at the DEO again a going away party is thrown for Kara. Mon-El who tells her that he is going back to the Legion ends up agreeing to go with Ka...

Supergirl 3x20 : Dark Side Of The Moon review

Image
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it This week's episode of Supergirl begins above the stars as Mon-El and Kara are continuing their quest to retrieve the black rock that is key to reversing Reign and ultimately restoring Sam to her normal self. They run into a tractor beam but manage to get around it and land at a mysterious city that is inhabited by humans or at least it looks that way. They disguise themselves to try and fit in before stumbling upon some Kryptonian writing on a panel but just as they are about to get the black rock a bunch of defense robots rush in before being called off by none other than Kara's mom. Kara overcome with emotion runs to her mom's arms as they both can't believe that they are seeing one another again. Turns out this isn't a mysterious city at all. In fact it's Argo City a part of Krypton that is protected by a shield that Kara's father had made before h...
