Supergirl 3x21 : Not Kansas review
Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it
This week's episode of Supergirl begins right where last week's ended as Kara and Mon-El crash into where Lena has been keeping Reign. The 3 fight as Lena quickly works on a way to turn the black rock into a liquid form that can be injected into Reign. She is successful and hands Mon-El the syringe and he injects Reign which leads to the World Killer being taken from Sam's body before ultimately being destroyed. So no more Reign? looks that way as back at the DEO Sam is reunited with Ruby and thanks Alex for all she done the past couple of weeks. At Kara's apartment her and Alex talk about how Kara has decided to go home to Argo City and be with her people again. The two sisters embrace and share an emotional scene as back at the DEO again a going away party is thrown for Kara. Mon-El who tells her that he is going back to the Legion ends up agreeing to go with Kara to Argo City but not before the going away party can take place as we get a nice overview of the DEO with Kara doing a voice over of all her fondest memories being in this building and with the people she's met there.
So Kara Zor El returns home with Mon-El in tow. They both arrive at Argo City and right away are greeted by Kara's mom and even an old friend of Kara who also survived the explosion of Krypton. Her and Kara talk for a bit and we find out that she's a part of the security team in Argo. While out and about with Mon-El Kara is almost killed by some falling debris and as she comes too she sees a very familiar person in a black robe running away from the scene. Kara right away becomes suspicious of the situation and later as she is having dinner with her friend, her husband and Mon-El she sees the same person again watching her through the glass of the building. She excuses herself from the dinner and runs to question this person but her friend gets involved and tells her that the person under the robe is no threat and that she should go get some rest to which she does. Things between Kara and Mon-El really heat up the following day as we see Kara walking in a field much like the season opener (we actually get that scene again) as Kara tells Mon-El about her dreams after he left and how she would have done anything to be in that field with him and now she is. But just as the two look set to embrace and kiss they are interrupted once again by this woman in the black robe as she is identified as the same person from earlier and she tells everyone that they are the children of the night and the high priestess Serena commands them. Yes that is the same Serena from last week's episode, the same Serena who agreed to give Kara some of the black rock to beat Reign. Something doesn't add up here and Kara who actually has been suspicious of her home almost all episode agrees. As Kara's mom rushes to the scene they all turn around to see a giant World Killer symbol burned into the ground and with their ship gone they have no real way of getting back. Why's the ship gone? well Serena and 2 of her followers took it to travel to earth as we see Coville once again hand Serena an artifact that once again opens the fortress for the World Killers and that's how the episode ends.
There was a lot going on in this episode apart from Kara's whole ordeal as guns from the DEO somehow made it onto the streets which led to a really interesting Jonn and James team-up to stop them. And also how Jonn's father wants to pass his memories onto his son so he can pass away peacefully, he feels it's time to get some rest and let his son live his life. Also Alex who really seems to miss Ruby as it's shown she is looking at adoption sites online (I called this earlier in the season) as she appears to want to adopt her but now that Sam is back to her normal self it'll be interesting to see how it all unfolds. This was another solid episode of Supergirl that was a good follow up to last week's episode. Only 2 episodes now remain this season. It's good to see you back home Kara Zor El.
