If I Had Legs I'd Kick You review

Rose Byrne gives a career best performance as a woman struggling to cope with life, her sick daughter and a whole lot else in a movie that is very unsettling and arguably more terrifying than many most horror releases in my opinion. The story follows a woman named Linda who tries to navigate what is a very difficult situaiton in her life with her sick daughter, a husband who is never at home and on top of all that an apartment that literally falls apart as her roof collapses. Mom and daughter end up staying at a hotel but it's not ideal as the daughter is attached to a machine that is allowing her to eat through it. Varuous stints in and out of hospital also only add to the extreme severity of the issue.

Life is a nonstop struggle for Linda and Rose Byrne plays it flawlessly her heightened senses of dread, stress and wanting to be the best are really pushed to the forefront making this movie a fascinating watch to unfold. It's so uneasy at times and so tough to just sit through as the movie constantly has some high pitched noise going on be a baby screaming and crying, the sound of high intensity traffic and very real, very pompus therapist sessions with Linda whose relationships with everyone near to her begin to deteriorate at a fast paced.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You is certainly not going to be for everyone. It's pacing is rather a slow burn but that doesn't take anything away from the superb acting on screen by pretty much everyone involved. It's also expertly written and directed all culminating in a movie that will be on your mind for a long time after seeing it. Brilliant!
