The Fantastic Four : First Steps review
The first family has finally arrived in the MCU. After two FOX sequels and a really terrible attempt at trying to resurrect the IP a decade ago it is now finally the arrival of a Fantastic Four movie worthy of the iconic group of astronaughts / heroes who captured the hearts of millions and millions of people. We all know the heroes involved with the Fantastic Four right?? Mr Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Thing and The Human Torch. All connected and really shining like one big family it's Marvel's first true family orintated story and it really works on pretty much all levels. Not only are the cast fantastic (pun intended) but the visuals and overall humour also all culminatin in what is easily the best MCU movie since Deadpool & Wolverine.
Galactus. It's a word and presence that totally engulfs the cosmos. And the entity is now coming to Earth to consume it to feed his seemingly never ending hunger. It's all setup when the Silver Surfer arrives on Earth heralding his arrival. It strikes the plot into action and it all really plays out really well and statisfying. Galactus himself is visually incredible and very imposing, more so when he is in Space as when he comes to Earth he sort of loses some luster but overall he was a great villain who literally towered over everyone with a deep commanding voice. I'm not one who knows much of the Fantastic Four lore but this was really well done with a great introduction of various villains and how loved the Fantastic Four are.
At it's core Fantastic Four : First Steps is a movie about family and the willingness to sacrifice for ones family. Visually it's great with special effects popping off the screen in some really impressive actions sequences especially those involving the Silver Surfer. Performance wise it's fantastic with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm being the beating heart of the movie and without her it just wouldn't be the same. For what comes next?? well it's Doomsday but for right now this is nothing short of Fantastic and easily my favorite movie of the summer.
