Marching Powder review
Meet Jack Jones a football holigan, drug addicted larger lover. Played by Danny Dyer he is a lovable loser whose life consits of fights, time with the wife and kid and plenty and I mean plenty of drug and boozed filled nights out with his mates. That all changes when he gets arrested after a massive brawl and given 6 weeks to turn his life around or he'll be sent directly to prison. Will he be able to turn his life around and be a good husband and father??
Danny Dyer is utterly brilliant here as Jack. It's a role pretty much tailor made for him and his performance is equal points hilarious as it is poignant and understated. It's also got a very meta idea going for it as at various points Jack speaks to the audience in many fourth wall breaking moments. Let's be straight here though Marching Powder is very rude and it is crude but underneath it all lays a beating heart one full at times love and at others hatred.
Marching Powder is a hilarious romp that is sure to entertain especially if you're in on the lingo and all that jazz. It's full of innuendo and the like but deep down there is a really solid narrative here like I said. Danny Dyer is the star here make no doubt about it but everyone else does a real bangup job also. Put the kids to bed and be sure to check this out with those you hold dearest. Enjoyable!
