Superman and Lois 4x9 : To Live and Die Again review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it After 3 weeks of masterful episodes this weeks episode of Superman and Lois is more of a prelude to the finale next week but it's also so much more than that as not only does it set up the final battle but we also get a comic accurate Doomsday and Lex finally adorning his Warsuit. The episode opens up at the Kent family home where Lois is seen attempting to regain advertising but to no avail. The boys are on edge with the whole Luthor situation and even suggest going after him which Clark shuts down immediately. They want to step up but that's now how Clark / Superman operates. At the end of last weeks episode we saw Lex Luthor and Amanda McCoy get cozy together and this week he hands her the keys to the Luthorcorp castle so to speak. He makes her the 2nd highest shareholder of the company instantly making her rich. But is this...

Wicked review

Image
Based upon the smash hit musical and set in the living breathing world of The Wizard Of Oz comes Wicked a tale about acceptence, bravey and always pushing forward. Starring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West. Right off the bat it's clear to see and hear that Wicked will be purely magnificent from it's opening moments which are so bright and colorful to the gleeming vocals of Ariana Grande it's absolutely mystifying to watch unfold before your very eyes. Once the story kicks into gear it only gets better and better as not only is Wicked pretty much perfection when it comes to it's musical elements and numbers it's pushed to even further heights by it's two main performers in Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.  I honestly didn't believe the hype surroundding these two performances especially Grande as Glinda but I'm going to say that I was sorely wrong. Ariana Grande is nothing short of sublime as Glinda. Ever...

Superman and Lois 4x8 : Sharp Dressed Man review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it After the past two weeks of incredible episodes can this weeks episode of Superman and Lois continue that trend as only two episodes now remain for this show. The episode opens up with Lex Luthor who as absent from last week. He has had a bit of a overhaul and is now a whole lot more comic accurate complete witha clean shaven face and wearing a suit. Not saying he didn't look the part before but this look is absolutely fantastic and was the perfect time to introduce it. Just what has Lex up his sleeve?? that remains to be seen but for now back at the Kent home and Lois has a hospital appointment to check up on how her post cancer treatments have been going. She gets amazing news practically getting the all clear, as her and Clark are leaving the hospital they see Lex on TV on a talk show being interviewed by none other than Gordon God...

Gladiator II review

Image
The original Gladiator movie starring Russell Crowe is an all time epic movie. It was absolutely huge and now over 2 decades later Director Ridley Scott returns to the franchise with this hefty, courageous sequel. Starring Paul Mescal as a mysterious almost barbarian like man who has his whole life turned upside down when his homeland is invaded and taken over by the Roman Empire. He loses pretty much everything in a frantic and brutal opening act. Once the Roman Empire has him and various others as theirs they're forced to compete in the various areans before having to enter the Colesseum and fight for their freedom. It's a very similar setup to the original and does a good job of making you care for Mescal's character.  Also along for the ride or should I say fight is Pedro Pascal who plays a courageous and outspoken General to the two Emperor's of Rome who are as corrupt and vicious as they are bloodthirsty. His perfromance is excellent leading to a confrontation w...

Conclave review

Image
I was lucky enough to see Conclave at an early preview screening and I can confidently say it is one of the most engrossing, performance driven pieces of cinema you will see all year. Starring Ralph Fiennes as the Dean of a Conclave who has the difficult task of helping a new Pope to be sworn in after the death of the standing Holy Father. Right off the bat Conclave draws you in and refuses to let you go from the outstanding musical score which heightens tension to the performances which are all impeccable.  Ralph Fiennes is absolutely outstanding here. There's a reason so much Oscar buzz is surrounding his performance as it is simply breathtaking. A man struggling with his task while also attempting to uncover corruption and scandal within the church he is perfection and carries the movie on his shoulders to tremendous heights. So in short is Conclave good?? yes and then some. It is so engrossing, so entertaining and at points rather funny. It's performances are sublime lik...

Superman and Lois 4x7 : Just A Regular Guy review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it After last weeks remarkable episode of Superman and Lois you'd think there'd be a drop in quality for just a little bit but wow this episode just blew me away and for so many different reasons than the last episode. We begins in a fantastic way as Clark narrates various moments in the beginning of his career as Superman in Metropolis. We see him running down allies, turning corners and ultimately removing his suit to reveal the Superman suit. We even got a callback to the pilot episode as Clark's secret really is the most pivotal point of this episode culminating in a truly eye opening moment. Speaking of Clark's secret it is something he has kept pretty much to himself all his life letting in only a handful of people so when his identity was comprised in the fight with Doomsday he now is seen trying to convince the residents of Smal...

Red One review

Image
It's that time of the year again. Time for a feel good Christmas movie to be released and with that being said Red One is unleashed unto the world. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons Red One tells the story of Saint Nick (Santa Clause) being kidnapped and used to aid an evil Witch's plot to rid the world of all naughty children. Right off the bat it's evident that Red One is not one to be taken seriously as Chris Evan's character showcases his sluething skills as he inadvertantly aids in the kidnapping of Santa afrer giving the North Pole's location to the highest bidder. It's up to Dwanye Johnson's Callum Drift and Evan's Jack O'Malley who is a bounty hunter / dark web specilist to save Saint Nick and thus in turn save Christmas.  Dwanye Johnson and Chris Evans you'd expect them both to deliver here and while they do some moments just feel so forced and unfunny it feels a tad awkward at times. Some of the delivery of these m...

Superman and Lois 4x6 : When the Lights Come On review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. This weeks episode of Superman & Lois may very well be the most brutal and vicious yet. It opens up with Lex Luthor absolutely furious in his hotel room he is seen smashing up the room, punching the walls all to the point of making his knuckles bleed. After what happened with Doomsday at the end of last weeks episode he is clealy on edge and working on a new plan and said plan gets put into motion rather quickly in this episode. Back at the Kent farm we see that Johnathan has been working pretty hard and is flying all around the world helping people. Jordan isn't really okay with this and it leads to some minor tension with the brothers. As for Lois and Clark they're on reporter duty as they try to connect people to Luthor at the Gazette, people like Otis and other various employees.  It is not long into this episode when t...

Anora review

Image
At first glance you'd be amiss to think that Anora is nothing more than a titalation expose and that is totally justified by the opening of this movie given the first thing we see is half naked women gyrating and grinding on men's laps. But Anora is far from a big sex blowout it is one of the most understated, tragic and awe insipiring movies you'll probably see all year. Mikey Madison is utterly sensational as Anora or Ani for short. She is a erotic dancer / prositute working at a club, one of the best money earners in said club her entire life changes when her boss pairs her with a young Russian man who is the son of a very wealthy family. What follows is a topsy turvey party filled with drink, drugs and plenty of sex leading to a marriage between the two young lovers which takes them from NYC to Las Vegas and beyond, as it goes on however something just doesn't feel or sit right with you and it all comes crashing down when the Russian family get involved attempting...
