Superman and Lois 4x5 : Break the Cycle review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. This weeks episode of Superman & Lois is a very much character driven episode and it's fantastic in that aspect. The episode opens up 17 years in the past as we see Lex Luthor with his then wife. She lambasts him and tells him that the marriage just is not working and it's all down to him and how cold he is. She asks for a divorce and in between the rest of this episode we get flashes to the past interwoven with present day goings on involving Lex and his daughter who plays a very important role in this episode. With everything going on and an impending Doomsday call just a press away Clark tells Lois that he is going to try and talk to Lex to try and reason with him. It goes about as well as you would expect with Luthor outright refusing the apology of Superman while questioning just how Lois managed to bring him back.  Do...

Venom The Last Dance review

Image
Who would've thought that Venom would get an entire trilogy but here we are at it's conclusion which ends with a stark warning of something far more sinister on the horizon. Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock / Venom and as with the previous two movies he carries this series on his back and is the only thing worth your time. This time around both symbiote and host are on the run after the previous move as they go from Mexico to Las Vegas and ultimately New York. Being hunted by the police and other agencies is the least of Venom's worries however when he learns that his creator is attempting to escape thr prison he and the other symbiotes imprisoned him in. So in a sense this movie doesn't have a direct villain so to speak it's more doing stuff from the shadows and while that idea is fine on paper on execution it really doesn't work all that much here as Eddie Brock has nobody to really bounce off of except the symbiote inside of him.  And boy oh boy do Eddie an...

Superman and Lois 4x4 : A Perfectly Good Wedding review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Superman lives! at the end of last weeks episode we saw Superman open his eyes after receiving Sam Lane's Superman DNA infused heart. We see Lois at her father's grave only for Clark Kent to return home leading to a big embrace between him, Lois and the boys. With everyone overjoyed that Clark / Superman is back from the dead it does begin to show that he isn't quite the same Superman that he once was, after all he now houses the heart of a 60 year old man albeit infused with some Kryptonian DNA it just isn't the same and it shows when Clark brings Johnathan to do some flight training. Clark starts to feel himself slow down thus leading to him crashing into the snow and ice below. It's evident that he is nowhere near strong enough at least not yet.  For the first time this season we see Chrissy and Kyle in the fold and with the...

Smile 2 review

Image
It's very rare that the sequel of any movie is better than the original especially in the horror genre but with Smile 2 not only is it better than the original it elevates and expands on it's predecessor so much to the point where it makes the original look very small in comparison. Naomi Scott stars as Riley Skye a musician who after being in a life altering car crash is about to make a comeback with a worldwide tour. Her entire life is turned upside down when she witnesses a friend kill himself of front of her with the weight of a benchpress all while eerily smiling at her. Totally overwhlemed by the situation she asserts herself to remain focused on training and preparing for her tour but that mindset is quickly erased and in it's place is a full blown horrific nightmare that only she can see and witness.  First off Naomi Scott is fantastic here in what is arguably her best performance to date. She does everything, she sings (the soundtrack is really, reallt good by th...

Superman and Lois 4x3 : Always My Hero review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. The Death of Superman it's a historic storyline in not just DC Comics but all of comics. This the final season of Superman & Lois has chosen to adapt said storyline and after the beginning last week in what was a two part episode it cotninues here with episode 3 with Lois opening the episode by narration. She talks about losing the people who mean everything to you and how you go on in life. We also see both her and the boys seemingly attending a funeral on the Kent farm but it couldn't be Clark / Superman so who is it?? and what happened?? more on that a bit later. John Henry Irons and Natalie return in this episode and John feels horrible about not helping Superman even though he told him not to do so. He can't help but keep looking over the Doomsday footage while Natalie attempts to coax him out of that mindset. Things seem t...

Superman and Lois 4x2 - A World Without review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. We're going back to back with the first two episodes of Superman and Lois season 4 as it's premiere is a double bill. At the end of the first episode we saw Superman ultimately fall in battle to Doomsday who was working exclusively for Lex Luthor. Speaking of Lex Luthor he is very heavily involved this season and it makes everything just that little better. This version of Lex Luthor is something special as he is truly evil. All he sees is vengeance for what happened to him at the hands of Lois and Clark. This episode he is something else in a moment that is utterly heartbreaking...literally. This episode opens up with Jordan being told by Lois to bring Superman's lifeless body to the Fortress of Solitude. Jordan does as he is told and rbings his dad to the Fortress where he is placed in something called suspended animation. It's so...

Superman & Lois 4x1 : The End and the Beginning review

Image
Be warned there will be SP OILERS* inv olved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. Superman and Lois's final season has finally arrived and after what seemed like an age away it picks up right where season 3 ended. Superman vs Doomsday, it's a battle of the titans a battle too big for the Earth alone and it proves that when they end up dukeing it out on the moon. While that fight is on going back on Earth and Lex Luthor's plan of vengeance against Lois, Superman and her family is in full swing as not only has he had General Lane kidnapped by Mercy and Otis Graves he is hellbent on getting Lois out of the reporting game once and for all. Not only that be has also moved in to the hotel across from the Smallville Gazzette, he has an eye on Lois pretty much at all times. With all of that going on Lois begins to remenise about her past with Clark. We get some truly great scenes of the two interacting very early on in t...

Joker Folie à Deux review

Image
Back in 2019 Joker was unleashed to the world. It was the performance of a lifetime by Joaquin Pheonix that not only claimed him every single acting accolade but the movie also drew in over 1 billion dollars at the worldwide box office. Fast forward 5 years and a sequel has finally arrived so will it live up to it's now infamous predecessor?? Arthur Fleck now incarirated after killing 5 people in the first movie is awaiting trial for his violent, vicious crimes. He doesn't talk or interact with anyone in prison only to sometimes maybe tell a joke to get a cigarette in return. Arthur's entire life and purpose changes when he meets one Lee Quinzel while in a music theraphy class. A broken, mishapen tale of love, deceit and heartbreak follows in what was certainly not the traditional Joker and Harley Quinn chemistry or pairing.  Music. We all love it, it speaks to people on so many levels so when this movie was announced to be a musical at first I was very skeptical myself b...
