Superman & Lois 4x1 : The End and the Beginning review
Be warned there will be SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it.
Lex Luthor is a lot more ruthless as we saw last season but we do get a bit more background on just why he is targeting Lois and her family so heavily. It's because of his own daughter Elizabeth who pretty much blocked all contact with him when he was sent to prison. It's been 17 years since Lex has seen or even been in contact with her and it has drastically impacted him. So with General Lane kidnapped and left to be buried alive it's up to Lois and the boys to find her father to which Jordan does. He is rescued just as his air and oxygen levels are about to run out. It's a big blow for Otis and Mercy who fail Lex twice in this episode.
The episode draws to a close as we go back to Superman doing battle with Doomsday on the moon. It's a battle of epic proportions and while it wasn't as long as I would've wanted it is really impactful and action fuled. Superman gets punched into a asteroid but recovers to try and stop Doomsday with his heat vision. A giant blast of energy is directed at Doomsday who barely flinches in the process, it uses this momentum and literally punches Superman through the same asteroid he had just crashed into, it breaks into pieces and as for Superman it's game over as Doomsday not only claims his cape and tears it leaving his body motionless in space but we later find out that Doomsday also took Superman's heart to give to Lex Luthor once it was back on Earth. The episode ends as Jordan hears Doomsday returning with Superman in his grasp, he lands right outside of the Smallville Diner as people panic all around. Doomsday yells out shows Superman in it's hand ultimately just throwing him to the ground before flying off. Lois and the boys arrive just in time to see all of this unfold right in front of them. Lois runs to check on Superman and as she turns his body around it's clear to see that he is gone. The episode fades out just as Lois looks back at the hotel where Lex is now staying. Brilliant. Simply brilliant. This was a perfect start to Superman and Lois's final season and proved once again just how excellent this show was and has been for so long now. Everything from the Superman / Doomsday battle to the interactions between Lois and Lex was fantastic. A flawless start to season 4!
