Smile 2 review

 




It's very rare that the sequel of any movie is better than the original especially in the horror genre but with Smile 2 not only is it better than the original it elevates and expands on it's predecessor so much to the point where it makes the original look very small in comparison. Naomi Scott stars as Riley Skye a musician who after being in a life altering car crash is about to make a comeback with a worldwide tour. Her entire life is turned upside down when she witnesses a friend kill himself of front of her with the weight of a benchpress all while eerily smiling at her. Totally overwhlemed by the situation she asserts herself to remain focused on training and preparing for her tour but that mindset is quickly erased and in it's place is a full blown horrific nightmare that only she can see and witness. 

First off Naomi Scott is fantastic here in what is arguably her best performance to date. She does everything, she sings (the soundtrack is really, reallt good by the way) she dances and she pulls off the erratic totally lost it mindset later in the second half of Smile 2. She is throughly convincing as everything comes crashing down around her it's very well done and so beyond creepy. Visually Smile 2 is top notch with inverted camera shots to represent a smile and things like pools of blood in the form of a Smile visually it's one of the best horror movies I've seen in quite some time. As for Skye Riley herself she isn't exactly the most clean cut person giving her substance abuse past but when she is seen performing she is very Lady Gaga esque with the look and the movements. She is a broken character in a sense and her paranoria levels only elevate the overall feeling and sympathy you will have for her.


Smile 2 is pure nightmare fuel. It has some cheap fake out moments but they're to be expected as you really don't know what is real or manifested. Naomi Scott is on top form and overall it pretty much improves on the original in almost every single avenue. Not only is it totally bonkers with some scenes that will stay with you long after you see it but it's absolutely visceral and bloody. Smile 2 is easily one of the best horror movies of 2024 and one I would highly recommend checking out this spooky season.

Gotham 5x1 : Year Zero review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it Gotham finally returns for it's fifth and sadly last season and with a run of only 12 episodes there is a lot to get through and eventually wrap up. It begins on Day 391 of No Man's Land as the final battle for Gotham comes to a head as Captain Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Riddler and even Penguin all suit up and get loaded for combat as all men led by many more GCPD officers open fire from a top a massive wall as Jim Gordon says ''For Gotham'' this of course is going to be the end of the season but let's go all the way back to day 87 of No Man's Land where we see Gordon talking to someone on a radio. He explains the situation currently going on in Gotham. The Flash 4x7 : Therefore I am review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it. This show does it again. I honestly have no idea how it can just go from last week's completely flat episode to this episode which was absolutely fantastic. It's just so frustrating because as I've said before this show as the potential to be better than all CW shows combined but given how inconsistent it is just bothers me.  Onto the episode and it begins after a first of many flashbacks to Devoe's past pretty much where it ended last week as Barry and Joe begin to question Devoe and his wife at their home. Devoe of course avoids all questions like a pro and Barry and Joe are forced to leave without getting any information. Later as Devoe is teaching a class at Central City University he once again sees Barry sitting in the back of the class watching on.
