Furiosa : A Mad Max Saga review
There's nothing like the roar of an engine. It's enough to get your heart pumping and racing at full speed. George Miller returns to the Mad Max franchise with yet another master class in filmaking and spectacle. Set before 2015's Fury Road Furiosa tells the story of how a young Furiosa came to be an angel of death in the wasteland. From humble beginnings as a young girl taking apples from a tree to feared nomad warrior her journey is one of emotion, betrayal and deceit. Anya Taylor Joy is pretty much flawless as Furiosa. Filling the shoes of Charlize Theron who made the character iconic was no mean feat but Taylor Joy does is superbly in a role featuring little to no spoken dialouge for the most part. Her presence is commanding and she really does amp things up in the action department in some incredible setpieces.
I loved Mad Max Fury Road so when this movie was announced I was super excited, seeing the trailer only got me more aboard the hype train and now having finally seen it I gotta say it is has delivered in such a BIG way. Also along for the chaotic ride is Chris Hemsworth who plays this movie's villain and enemy of Furiosa. He is cocky, arrogant but deep down is plainly a coward with nothing to really lose. His plan to take over the entire wasteland is an interesting one as all three major settlements do battle back and forth for resources and the like.
Furiosa : A Mad Max Saga was always destined for greateness in my opinion but this feels above and beyond that. George Miller has created another epic masterpiece packed with emotion, action and hatred. Anya Taylor Joy is thrilling, Hemsworth is wild and overall this is easily one of the best movies of the year so far and could very well be the best this summer season has to offer. This is one you just must go and see!
