Thanksgiving (2023) review
Holiday theme slasher movies apart from say Halloween never truly have worked for me over the years. Black Christmas?? nope, Krampus? absolutely not. Valentine?? don't even go there. So how about Thanksgiving?? a time of celebration and to be thankful for the life one lives can that make a successful transition into the slasher genre?? the answer is absolutely yes it can. Thanksgiving right off the bat gives us one of the best and most chaotic openings to a horror movie in some time. Not only is it chaotic but it is funny, brilliantly paced and sets up what is to follow pretty much perfectly. The story revovles around a group of school kids who after being involved in a black friday massacre inside a giant shopping store are targeted one by one on the first anniversary of the tragedy.
