Arrow 7x5 : The Demon review

Be warned there will be *SPOILERS* involved in this review. With that being said let's get into it

Arrow continues it's strong start to it's 7th season with this episode. It begins as Oliver is gifted with new cuffs from his also new prison guard who turns out to be a real jerk throughout. On level two Oliver's visitation rights are revoked and throughout the episode Felicity, Dinah and Laurel a trio who I never though I'd see working together attempt to fix this issues and expose the head doctor Dr Parker from last week's episode who has been a part of erasing inmates memories on level two. Even going as far as to kill some of them which Oliver can't stand for as you'd expect. What I didn't expect however is him being greeted by Talia Al Ghul who breaks into his cell and offers him a way to get out of prison but he denies the Demon's head's daughter. The two talk throughout the episode and Oliver ends up apologizing about what happened between him and Ra's Al Ghul a couple of years back. Talia mention that the student has outgrown the teacher as we saw in season 5's flashbacks Talia thought him to separate the man from the monster but Oliver ultimately failed in that task which is why he is in this mess.

On the outside you've Laurel, Felicity and Dinah working together as I mentioned but also a lot going on at ARGUS as Curtis's incredible skills are put to the ultimate test in a bid to stop a nuclear agent from getting into the wrong hands. Curtis handles the situation a lot better than even he imagines in the end as Dig and the rest of ARGUS get the package and secure it. More on Oliver now and him and Talia come up with both a way to escape and expose what has been happening on level two. When brought into the mysterious room by Dr Parker Oliver tells him that his name is Oliver Queen and not Inmate 4587 before taking him out. Oliver downloads files from the computer while Talia deals with the cuffs and the guards. With guards surrounding them Oliver tells Talia to get the files and bring them to Felicity, he will take the blow to which he does. He is ultimately transferred back to level one in a much safer place which is odd to say considering it is still prison after all.
The episode comes to a close as Dr Parker and the goings on in the prison are exposed by Felicity and co who honestly worked incredibly well together. Talia shows up one more time as she straight up kills Dr Parker and finally Oliver is brought back to level one, back to his previous cell. I really did enjoy this episode. I know I didn't mention all the goings on but trust me this was a really strong episode which for the most has been a really strong start to the season for Arrow. A whole lot better than I imagined it even would be. It's deep, it's immersive and most of all it's interesting. A step up in terms of quality from season 6 thus far.
